Just spent the last week at this beautiful hotel. The views from the sea view balconies are spectacular. The hotel is in the most wonderful position built into the cliff and overlooking the bay of Naples - fabulous, We were celebrating our ruby wedding anniversary on the Sunday night and just by chance it was the night of the candlelit dinner. There was a violinist playing during dinner and this made our night so very special. We really enjoyed the variety of food on offer at dinner and had no complaints. The staff were helpful and very friendly and saw to all our needs. A holiday we will always remember.

Dear Pauline,

thank you very much for writing such a lovely review regarding your recent stay at our hotel.

We are pleased that you enjoyed the view from the rooms and the location of our establishment.

The Candlelight Dinner is something we are very proud of, dining in the special atmosphere of our restaurant terrace overlooking Sorrento town and the bay, while listening to the violinist.

Thank you again for all your compliments regarding the staff, they send their best regards and hope to welcome you again as soon as possible.

Until then, please accept our

Ok, it has all been said before in other reviews, so I will keep this brief and try to talk about some things I haven't seen mentioned.

The hotel is in a wonderful location, in my opinion the best in Sorrento. We were upgraded, without extra cost, to a large room (306) with a walk in wardrobe area and a partial sea view. I loved this view as I could see the whole of Sorrento, as well as a very good portion of the bay. The sun lands on this side of the hotel in the morning and all rooms have electrically operated roller shutters, which help keep them lovely and cool. The furnishings through the hotel are very beautiful. The hotel is decorated in a very understated and elegant way, with hand painted tiles on the walls and floors, but is accessorised with some wonderful old wooden furniture at every turn...and what an amazing amount of twists and turns there are! This hotel is like a rabbit warren and is extremely good fun to explore. Every bar, lounge and pool are on different levels and even the sunbeds are scattered on many different levels and patios, so you never feel crowded or overlooked. We didn't have any problem getting a sun bed, no matter what time of day we got the lift up to the pool.

The breakfast buffet is very lovely. Don't miss the Prosecco, which is near the fruit juices on the right hand side, just by the entrance. We did on the first day! I also only realised there was a huge container of baked beans just in front of the egg station on the last day too. Although it is obvious when you know it is there it is the other side of the egg station to the bacon, etc. So you could easily overlook it.

Walking into the centre is a very easy stroll from the hotel, so don't be put off if you can't climb stairs or hills, it really is a gentle incline and not a step hike.

The other thing I have seen debated here is the friendliness of the staff. One thing to remember, this is a huge hotel, so you will not get the personal touch of a boutique establishment. The staff were all perfectly friendly, acknowledged you when you past by, the bar staff chatted to you, when you chatted with them, but this was all very professional and nobody lingered over a conversation as they were busy and had plenty of other customers to deal with. Think courteous efficiency.

Needless to say, we will be back.

Room Tip: room 306 has a lovely view of the town and the bay - and is very big with a walk in wardrobe and ver...

Just returned after spending our honeymoon here. The hotel has a fantastic setting with views over Sorrento's port and the bay of Naples, with mt Vesuvius in the distance. The hotel is set into the cliff face and is a short walk into the main town. Our room was very nice, my only complaint would be that there was a lot of noise at times from the corridors. The pool area is very relaxing with views from each of the cascading pools over the bay. The service throughout the hotel is brilliant and you will not be disappointed. Ciro from the restaurant was a stand out man and very attentive and friendly. We dined in all of the hotels restaurants and thought the menus had a good choice and the food was very good. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and we would return in the future if we decide to go back to Sorrento.

Just back after spending 11 nights in this beautiful hotel. Our room with the amazing views of the bay of naples and sorrento was beautiful. The views from all the public areas/dining areas within the hotel are also breathtaking. The pool area is also amazing with plenty of loungers available at all times and a lovely bar/restaurant area serving lunch. We stayed B&B so we can't comment on the food served in the evenings but the breakfast was excellent. Staff were so pleasant and helpful and the facilities provided are maintained to a very high standard. Location is perfect just a very pleasant 5 to 10 minute walk into the centre but be very careful crossing the road outside the hotel. Looking forward to a return visit.

We visited this hotel in June on our honeymoon and were really happy with our comfortable, clean room with a spectacular sea view. I completely agree with comments regarding the food however which is such a shame. We were only bed and breakfast and although the breakfast buffet was pretty extensive the food was average and the tables weren't cleaned properly. We ate dinner once in the hotel and had a very bland and forgettable meal and there was a huge queue to sit outside. We were thankful we didn't stay in the hotel on a half board basis as Sorrento has some amazing restaurants on offer.
Overall it did provide a great base for us as the location is perfect and the views are unforgettable.

Spent 12 nights at the Capodimonte, rooms & views are wonderful as are the staff. The food was nicely presented but lacked taste & was certainly not 4 star. This is a great hotel but having talked to other guests who had stayed before, the food has gone downhill, which is a great shame. Its not cheap to stay at the Capodimonte & Sorrento is a very expensive resort so come on improve the food and make this hotel wonderful. I had the Croque Misseur for lunch overlooking the pool, it cost 9 euros and it was disgusting. Action please!

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper and go to bed early avoid rooms directly over the piano bar.
