“Fantastic hotel and staff”
Reviewed 11 July 2011

Arrived aroung 10.30 pm on 24/6 to complimentary food and dessert in the room!. Fantastic sea views and food. The only people who complain about this hotel must be the ones who are too mean to pay for the sea view - put your money where your mouth is and pay for the superior room.
Staff wrere superb, even giving the family a room to shower and change in on our last day, as our coach pick up was at 5.30pm.
Courtesy coach straight into the heart of Sorrento. All in all a wonderful 14 day break.

Room Tip: Pay for a sea view room - its worth every penny to wake up to that view !

We stayed at the hotel as park of a package holiday, this was our second visit to Sorrento, and we chose this hotel because, although it was away from the centre of the main town, it offered a complimentary shuttle bus service to the town centre.
The hotel itself was great, the staff were considerate, the food was excellent, the pool and surrounds was great for couples, The outstanding feature is the view of the entire bay of Naples from the terrace.
The one draw back was the shutle service, which although free was limited by a timetable, with a break in mid afternoon and early evening and no service after 11pm. If you wanted to go into town after dinner, the earliest bus was 8.45pm, so it only gave you a couple of hours in Sorrento at night. This did not put of every one, and the shuttle bus was well used, but it was a bit like going on a school trip.
What was not available from the hotel was being able to go for a gentle stroll after dinner to the sea front or the entertainment in the town.
If you have children, 10-18yrs, there is very little for them to do once the pool is closed..
For people who want a relaxing holiday in a good hotel, with good food and service, and to take advantage of the trips to surropunding locations like Amalfi and Pompeii this is well placed.
We would recommend this holiday for those who have left there grown up children at home and want a holiday as a couple.

Room Tip: A sea view is a must, minimum side view, rooms on the 1st floor at the back look at a wall!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Art Hotel Gran Paradiso in Sorrento, Italy ... the room was excellent, the views and facilities were superb and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

This hotel made our first visit to Italy very memorable ... we will definitely stay here again if we are able to make it back from our home in Canada. We will also highly recommend this hotel and their guest services to all our friends!

We loved this hotel the minute we walked in.
Booked & paid 9 months in advance, to be told eat outside at our bar whilst room is prepared. Go in 2 hours later to be told: Sorry there is no room for you here.
Moved to a hotel of the same star & quality. Get there check in & the rooms were very very average & the hotel needed a massive make over. Nothing like the Paradiso.
Ring the hotel manager to be told have to stay there have no choice or you loose your money. We kicked up such a sticnk that the manager picked us up in the morning, tgave us a room upgrade for the remaining 2 nights & free dinner for one night.
Great hotel, but the way things were handled were un-professional & they are moving you to another hotel it needs to be of better quality not worse!

We took a group to this hotel and although the rooms are simply furnished they were clean. It is quite a distance from the town and up a hill, this was no problem as the hotel courtesey bus runs very frequently throughout the day and night. The reception and bar staff were very helpful and friendly and the Restaurant was most certainly wonderful. The choice of food and portions were overwhelming and the waiters were very attentive. Pool towells are now assured to be in the rooms and next year minibars will be fitted in all rooms. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

Since 1997, every year we spend our holiday in this hotel. And every year it feels like coming home again.

It is a unique hotel. The hotel is situated on a hill, the panoramic view is breathtaking. There is a very pretty pool, overlooking the mediterranian sea. The rooms are large with balcony and very clean. The food is excellent. But the most unique part of the hotel are the members off the staff, they are great and make your stay unforgettable.

Can't wait to return to our "second home" next year.

Wonderful views from pool and restaurant, and if you pay the extra, from your room. Food consistently good or excellent. It's up out of the town, but there is a courtesy bus that runs regularly to Sorrento and saves you money. It's good to be away from the main road, Corsa Italia, which even by Italian standards is an absolute nightmare - I mean it.
Vesuvius is easily reached by train then bus, and is well worth it. Also Pompei and Erculano by train, very cheap. Latter is even better than Pompei as better preserved.
Hiring a speedboat in Sorrento and cruising the Bay of Naples takes some beating. 50 euros an hour but if you like that sort of thing, you won't regret it.

Room Tip: Pay for sea view and balcony/ terrace - stunning.
