A very friendly and clean Hotel with fantastic views of Sorrento and Vesuvius. Everything about this hilltop Hotel had a touch of class. The hotel's art collection is in abundance and is tasteful. A great place to stay to avoid the hustle and bustle of Sorrento in between your planned outings to Vesuvius, Pompeii and the islands. The hotel's shuttle service will take you into town with a regular service. Good food, restaurant, bar and pool. A memorable place to stay. Be aware however that, yes it is possible to walk into Sorrento, but only recommended for the young.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room

We stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks at the start of August. The location of this hotel is perfect and you get some outstanding views of the Bay of Naples. Stunning.
When we were directed to our room, we were surprised to find a very basic/old looking room with no sea view (we booked sea view, and I highly recommend you do too). We raised our concerns with reception and were told it was a sea view room (yes if you leant over the small balcony and looked right. That's not exactly what we had in mind) I explained that it was our honeymoon and we paid that little extra for the views. The lady with short curly hair changed us to a different room the next day. She was very helpful and I just want to say thank you for getting this swapped so quickly. The difference in rooms is massive. Our room was still basic but a lot more modern and our balcony overlooked onto the Bay of Naples, it was perfect.
The restaurant was great with a selection of meals per course in the evening, I'm a fussy eater and I was really happy with the standard of food offered. However, the breakfast is very basic, with minimal hot food, it's more like a continental breakfast. The staff in the restaurant were very attentive and helpful. A special mention to Gisueppe, he was a real gent and always made the ladies smile. You also had the option to sit outside for your meal and watch the sunset.
The shuttle bus is a godsend. The times could do with being more regular in the evening, as they were very limited to two drop-offs and two pick-ups. Mariano was a fab driver and knew that hill and the town like the back of his hand.
All in all, this hotel was perfect. We would definitely come back (although, we'd make sure we checked our room before arriving, to save the hassle of moving rooms). Thanks for a great stay!!

This is a very good hotel. The staff are wonderful and the location on the hills above Sorrento offers great views and is away from the noise of the town. The rooms are not very plush, but are comfortable and spotless. It is well worth spending the extra for a sea view.
When planning your visit it is worth noting that the 15th of August is a festival and the hotel has a special meal on the 14th followed by fireworks.

My boyfriend and I (aged 23) stayed for a week at Gran Paradiso. The staff are faultless and the views from the pool are incredible.

However, the standard room we were given was average. The room was small and overlooked wasteland and had very little natural light. We were given the option to change rooms however only to another standard room, which was no better. The wifi was also very slow. Considering the price we paid I was very surprised to be given such a basic room.

Breakfast food was basic, very unpleasant meat, but the waiters were excellent. We never ate dinner as were were bed&breakfast and preferred to explore restaurants in the town.

The pool area is great but the less crowded area of the pool, with the best views, are reserved with towels early in the morning. On one occasion, I noticed that four sun-beds had been left unattended for one hour and thirty minutes so I asked whether these beds could be cleared for us and the first member of staff politely agreed. However, a second member of staff was aware of who the sun-beds were for and at this moment the guests arrived. The second member of staff advised that if I want a choice I should come down at 7.30am to reserve them. Perhaps this is only a problem in the busy summer months. The afternoon was less busy.

Bus driver is excellent, always felt very safe. However the bus times are very limiting, particularly in the evening. The only two arrivals in town in the evening were at 18.30 or 20.45 with the return bus being at 23.00. We often found that we would have too much or too little time so walked back on two occasions. The hill is not difficult but the road leading to the hill is very busy with narrow pavements. It was not a pleasant walk. Would be beneficial to have a bus going in to town around 19.00.

As a result of all of the above, we spent very little time at the hotel.

In short, the staff at the hotel and the views are excellent. However, the rest is very basic. If you are a young group/couple, who are not staying as part of a package deal, I would not recommend this hotel. Very expensive for what you actually get and not much atmosphere. If we were to return to Sorrento we would stay on the cliff top hotels at Marina Picollo.

Room Tip: Don't stay in a standard room. Very basic for the price.

We stayed at the hotel during our Honeymoon and we had a great time. The Room was brilliant(we had paid for a sea view) and were allocated a room on the first floor which had a massive terrace and brilliant views across the bay of Naples. All of the common areas where always clean and tidy and we never had an issue with getting a sun lounger at the pool.

All of the staff were really friendly and would do anything they could do to help you. The staff in the restaurant are outstanding especially Luca and Giuseppe. The food was excellent and there was something different on every night you had an option of 4 starters and 4 mains.

The only downside is the hill, which is rather steep but you wouldn't have the fabulous views if it wasn't for the location, The Shuttle bus was a godsend, we tended to walk into town which took approx 30 Minutes then got the Bus back. A slightly later last bus would have been nice but coming back at 11 certainly didn't ruin our experience.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone but would make them aware of the hill and as long as you are prepared for it then it is not an issue.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the First floor poolside to get a sun terrace.

The title says it all, but here's why I gave 5 stars for this hotel. The staff members went above and beyond their job after we had checked out of the hotel to help us reach our destination.
We checked out and were on our way by tour bus to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvio and there was road construction and we were delayed immensely and would have not reached back for taxi pick up. For sure we would have missed our train. We called the hotel and the staff member coordinated with our taxi service and our tour guide to ensure the taxi would meet us just outside the expressway on the route to the train station. Exemplary customer service!! Thank you very much to the unknown staff member/s who helped us save a lot of potential inconvenience and money.

Room Tip: Water facing room.

The things that make Gran Paradiso is the food and the view. My husband and I have just returned from a two week stay and did have a great time but felt there was something slightly lacking.
We had room 213 which we paid to have a sea view, which it was, if you looked left. I did enquire about this but was told that it was a sea view room, anyway we didn't mind this too much.
The room was minimal but spotless, very clean, everything you needed as it was cleaned every day which was great.
Our main issue with the room was the noise! We were above the main entrance so if you wanted a siesta in the afternoon it wasn't particularly peaceful. Also the hotel doors are so big and heavy that they slam shut so loudly! You may think I'm being picky but after two weeks of being woken up 6-7am by slamming doors it got a bit tedious! We did ask about moving towards the end of the first week but were told they were fully booked.
The pool was nice, sun loungers good as they had a little canopy to protect you from the sun.
The food was excellent, al a carte every night, brilliant selection. The waiters were amazing! Guiseppie was a delight as was Michcele and Ciro. They really looked after you and made dining a great experience.
Also while we stayed it was an Italian bank holiday so on our last night there was a buffet and fireworks which was excellent.
The shuttle bus service is great Mariano knows that road like the back of his hand, we walked down the steep road twice which was fine, but only attempted it once back up, which was tough!
The drinks prices were not too bad, 3.50 for a glass of house wine, 4.70 for a pint, not cheap but not extortionate either.
People came and went a lot at this hotel, I understand that a lot of guests were doing a tour of Italy so only stayed for two or three days, we stayed for a full two weeks so didn't recognise anyone who stayed as long as us. Maybe this is why I felt that the price we paid for the holiday didn't live up to the luxury I expected.
We went into Sorrento a few times and Sant Agnello (which is very pretty) and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We also visited La Marinella marina which was beautiful too.
Overall we had a lovely holiday and really loved Italy but if we wanted two weeks peaceful relaxing in a luxury environment maybe I would choose somewhere else to stay next time.
