“Not a quiet experience”
Reviewed 23 June 2012

This hotel has many nice features such as a beautiful view of the sea. The accomodations are acceptable, even though the place has clearly seen better days. However, it is located, cheek by jowl, next to a residential community. The sound of barking dogs never seems to stop. I would not recommend coming here if you prize peace and quiet.

Just returned from this hotel one week ago on an all inclusive holiday with First Choice. This was one of the classiest all inclusive holidays we have been on and it was perfect. All the staff were excellent, the food was superb and the location fantastic. View from the terrace is breathtaking.
We had a garden view which was overlooking a lemon and olive grove and it was lovely and peaceful with the only noise being the birds singing!! There is a shuttle bus which takes you down into Sorrento and if you fit in your visits with the timetable this it works perfectly. Some people did walk down the hill but personally would not advise it due to the Italian drivers!! Would certainly recommend it.

Stayed here 2 nights in a very spacious room 227. Every room seems to be different. The hotel is a bit dated and we are still getting used to not having tea making facillities, tissues, iron as standard inclusions. Check in was a joke as the staff barely acknowleged us as we were with another group of people. Their aim seems to be process and get rid of everyone fast.

Breakfast and dinner was included in our stay and I definitely feel if you are not with a group or European you get treated better. You are expected to know what you want to eat and drink immediately. We were all dressed well and polite but I thought the male waiters especially were extremely rude. It doesnt cost anything to smile!

Breakfast is pretty basic. I would suggest you bring your own teabags/coffee bags as tea and coffee is from a vending machine.

Room Tip: all rooms are noisy but a sea view room distracts you from the other negatives

We were just impressed with the view. The food was excellent. The piano bar at night was classy. We loved it. It is quite high in the mountain but there is a shuttle bus that drives down in the city center regularly.

Room Tip: The view is right on the sea and the cliffs.

We stayed at the this hotel for a week. The views are amazing, the hotel is clean and the pool is as big as it looks in the picture, we spent a lot of time in the pool and although cold at first soon warmed up. We got married at Villa Fondi, which is a short drive from this hotel (15mins). Villa Fondi is a lovely venue for a wedding with amazing sea views and gardens. We had our reception at the hotel and they treated us very well. Patrizia arranged all of the wedding extras via email and I met with her and Stacey our wedding co-ordinator on the first day. They went out of there way to make sure our wedding went without a hitch. We had drinks on arrival, with canapes, 4 course lunch which included a BBQ, and they made us an amazing wedding cake in the colours of our theme. The table was decorated with fresh flowers and my bouquet was stunning. The free shuttle bus to sorrento town is reliable and takes around 15mins, the town is lovely to walk around and there are some amazing restaurants. Myself and our 20 guests were all inclusive at the hotel and some did feel frustrated that we could only get 2 drinks at a time and you had to give room number and sign every time. We ate in the hotel 4 evenings and found the food to be good quality, it was silver service and we had 4-5 choices for each course. There was a buffet on 2 evenings and this consisted of joints of meat, whole fish, pasta dishes and lovely cakes. There is no entertainment at the hotel and some felt that it would benefit from some music, perhaps table tennis in the bar area. DO NOT book the THOMSON excursions. They are not good value for money and we found that there were more hidden things not included than included. We found that the Thomson rep Ciara tried to put people off using public transport in the welcome meeting by giving stories of pick pockets and when 20 of us were not happy with the excursions she did nothing but say that no-one else has complained, we found her to be rude, not very helpful and once she had our money she wasn't interested. We found it would of been cheaper to arrange the excursions ourselves. To sum up we had a wonderful time in Sorrento and would throughly recommend this hotel and the area to anyone wanting a holiday in a truly romantic and picturesque location.

Room Tip: Seaview room was worth the money.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times , Jul/Aug last year being the latest.

I would like to make a comment regarding some of the current reviews about the all inclusive system introduced for Thomson group holidays ie Citalia , First choice etc .

I suspect this has been imposed on the hotel by this group , likely against the better judgement of the hotel.

If you go all in may i suggest that it is a case of you get what you pay for , the prices for this hotel through the holiday companies is comparitavely low , look at some of the other hotels and price it up.

I have found that it is better if you book and pay direct , you get what you pay for , sure it costs a bit more , although this year with the decline in the Euro you may find it slighty cheaper direct , but you get a better room , an ability to choose different food and so on ( never had a dirty look for requesting different meals ) and frankly the hotel is more likely to want you over a package customer.

Have always found the staff sociable and communicative , the pool very large and warm , it does take a while to warm up at this time of the year certainly , but what would you expect its half way through june ? Don't go into the restaurant dressed like a yob and you wont get treated like one .

Do you really expect on an all inclusive they are going to serve you a huge selection of high quality wines/beers/spirits etc ?

You are in Sorrento get out and enjoy the place there are endless things to do if you do some simple research .

Think about it , book direct the hotel gets all the money , book through a company , the company makes a profit by negotiating a lower price with the hotel .

The hotel still wants to make a profit , so it reduces the offering to the customer by cutting costs where it reasonably can .

The other benefit of booking direct is that if you have to cancel it is actually much easier and if up to 48hrs before (on average) you don't pay anything , guess how much the tour company will take 48 hrs before , the lot , will your insurance pay ? well who knows these days.

So don't blame the hotel , look to your tour company it was their idea , it was an attempt to reduce your overall costs , look at the local prices in shops the Euro has caused huge inflation , you would be on here moaning about how expensive the drink prices etc were , 8 euros for a Pimms for example last year.

I would say it is a reasonable hotel , which I can not select above, but if it can not make a decent profit then its offering will continue to suffer , I hope Thomson group scrap the idea , frankly I wouldn't go this year because of what the all inclusive may bring.
