“What a view!”
Reviewed 29 May 2012

We just recently got back from our honeymoon and stayed at Hotel BelAir. The staff were fantastic and could not be more helpful with organising day trips or suggesting places to eat at night.

The rooms were extremely clean and the view was simply stunning. We would stay here again, when we go back to Italy.

This is a clean and very comfortable hotel with attentive and pleasant staff. Two issues: we ate at the restaurant the first night, and the food was terrible, greasy and overcooked. To be fair when the head waiter saw I hadnt eaten mine he pressed me to take anything I liked from the a la carte menu and was quite upset. I didnt take him up on the offer because I had just ploughed through a starter that was almost as bad, soggy pasta smothered with passata, and couldn't face the possibility of more horrible food. We didnt eat there again in the evening so I cant say whether or not it was a one off. Breakfast was absolutely fine.

The second one is about the walk into town. Other reviews make light of it, and I can see that the lovely views and the (comparatively)good value hotel make the walk worth it, but if you go by road while you have the lovely views on one side of you the other side is a very busy road and the pavement is narrow - have to walk in single file. It's 10 minutes to the centre and 20 to the harbour. Also, coming back is uphill! Adds quite a strain after a long day in Capri, so either go prepared for this or like others go down the steps on the way in to town and get a taxi back.

Room Tip: The point of this hotel is the view across the bay

The Belair exceeded our expectations. The most helpful staff.Beautiful location. We felt pampered.
The food was excellent.Parking was on site which is a bonus in Italy. We took a boat excursion to Capri, that was arranged by our favorite, Gianluca! Fantastic time with Capt Ago..
We were entertained by a handsome talented tenor,Carmine Orsini,he was a true gift. What a wonderful way to cap off a day. One can only hope he will come to the USA to perform.
My husband and I ,as well, as our traveling buddies are looking forward to returning to the Belair
sooner than later. This was truly the highlight of a month long trip through Italy.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful, including seaview and balcony.

This hotel exceeds all our expectations of what a great hotel should be. All the rooms are very good and all have the best views of Sorrento ,Vesuvius and the bay of Naples. The food was excellent every day.The pool was very relaxing and even though the hotel was full, we never had to rush to get a sun lounger. In fact not once in the week we where there did we see anyone reserving them. The walk into Sorrento along the road only took 10 mins but the best way to get to the harbour and town is to go down the steps from the hotel via a cliff path.Every morning you wake up to the sound of the sea and the amazing view across the bay and the Volcano Vesuvius. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble. The breakfast was a buffet service and the evening meal was waiter service, As you would expect from a top quality Italian restaurant. The decor at this hotel was typicaly in Italian style and had been recently decorated and was very clean .We went to Vesuvius and Herculanium during which we went on 4 x 4 vehicles up the Volcano and on to the vineyards, where we had an afternoon of eating and wine tasting. We only did the two trips out as we loved walking around Sorrento so much.We found it amusing to sit in the main square and watch the every day life of the locals, especially the traffic. The Mopeds riders are crackers!.In the hotel there is a guest book where you are invited to write about your stay.As i read this it became obvious that this hotel is a very special place not only to me but to a lot of others as well. in fact many of the comments are from guests who had been to this hotel on numerous occasions. What better compliment can you get. If you are going to this hotel in the future , Dont worry about anything , i can assure you that you will not be dissapointed. We will certainly be returning to Hotel Belair.

Room Tip: All rooms are good and have a view of the bay of Naples and Vesuvius.

The Belair sits up Via Capo about a ten to fifteen minute walk to the the Piazza Tasso, actually just a perfect distance to walk to and from dinner. ( there is a public bus also). We walked from the Belair and around Sorrento for 5 days and enjoyed it, even with a couple of trick knees.
Our standard room with a balcony overlooked the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius and was quite nice. The service was very good and very friendly and we had free parking.( there is adequate public parking in town for 2 euros per hour--forget street prking). The one dinner we had was very good and the bar tender made exceptionly good drinks.
The highlight of our stay was a tenor and a piano player who performed for three hours one night from 7:30 to almost 11:00.The tenor, Orsini Carmine and his accompanist, Umberto were very well trained professionals and excellent entertainers who performed classical, popular and jazz numbers with similar success. When Mr. Carmine performed "O Solo Mio" and the aria from "Paliacci" I actually got goose bumps. His voiced was magnificent

Room Tip: take the bay view with a balcony

I cannot fault this hotel. We had a top floor room with balcony, amazing views. Very clean room & super comfy bed. Helpful staff. Very extensive breakfast. 10-15 minute walk down into Sorrento no problem & good to be away from noise of town centre. If you want sun by the pool do it in the morning! Definitely go back again.

We stayed at Belair hotel for our honeymoon at the beginning of May and had a fantastic stay. Everything lived up to our expectations or exceeded them. In particular we loved the spectacular view across the bay to Naples and Vesuvius, our spacious room with balcony and the fantastic food and service at the hotel. The staff could not have been more helpful and we booked a day trip to Vesuvius and Pompeii via the hotel which was excellent. Overall we had a fantastic time at Belair and enjoyed the short walk into the town of Sorrento. I would definitely recommend to others.

Room Tip: corner room 116 was great - lovely view, spacious room and quiet as it is further away from the hote...
