There are just six weeks left, before our trip to Sorrento - and our third stay at the Hotel Belair. So why has it become such a favourite destination for us?
Firstly, because Sorrento itself is such a magical town and it is so convenient for visits to Vesuvius, Pompeii, Herculaneum, The Isles of Capri and Ischia, The Amalfi Coast and many other destinations.
Secondly, the views from every room in the Belair - poised as it is right on the clifftop - are, without doubt, the finest you could possibly get. I vividly recall the comments made by a fellow guest at the hotel last year, when she told us, "When I went out on our balcony last night for the first time, I cried , because I've never been anywhere so beautiful in all my life". We certainly agree; from dawn to dusk, the views over the town, along the coastline and up to the towering mountainous background seem to change constantly, so that you can spend hours just 'looking'. And when night falls, the lights along the Bay and in the hills glint like strings of different jewels. It is little wonder that the film 'Love is All You Need', starring Pierce Brosnan, was set in and around this lovely place.
Thirdly, but most importantly, the Hotel Belair is probably the most welcoming and well appointed venue we've encountered on our many years of travel. We first stayed at the Belair in 2006 and were amazed to discover that almost ALL the staff were still there, when we re-visited last summer! The helpful, cheerful staff at Reception; Lorenzo, the porter who took us to our room; Anna, our happy and efficient room-maid; Steffano, the gym and pool supervisor; Rossano, the ebullient and knowledgeable Barman; Michele, probably the world's most magnificent Maitre d'Hotel and his wonderful catering team. What a team they are! Our room was fabulous, the cuisine second to none, the service better than we've had anywhere in the world and the situation of the hotel in such an idyllic setting could only be bettered in Heaven! It's no wonder that so many guests return to the Belair annually.

Just back from a week in this hotel, celebrating our Silver Wedding. Brilliant from start to finish. Hotel was superb and the views were awesome. Staff all very courteous, helpful and friendly. Will definitely return! Small points: No tea/coffee facilities in room. Romantic dinner organised by hotel; menu was scallops and sea bass, no choice, maybe offer a meat alternative? All in all magnifico!

We have just returned from a fantastic break in Sorrento, we were only b & b as we have previously stayed in Sorrento and enjoy eating out at the many restaurants in town. Breakfast was very good and one evening they had a tenor singing in the hotel who along with the piano player was outstanding. Views are five star you would struggle to find a better view anywhere else in Sorrento. Have only given four stars because it is a little dated and we have stayed in superior accomodation but everything else is five star.

The staff were with out doubt some of the best and look after us and all our needs. The quality of food was of a high standard and cooked to our liking , The standard of the room was first class spotlessly clean with panoramic views. What more can I say this is a first class hotel with first class service and staff.

Room Tip: you can walk down to the town but you need a taxi back

Hotel Belair is absolutely a wonderful place to stay in Sorrento. Unmatched views of city and surrounding mountains, the Bay of Naples, and Mt. Vesuvius. Great rooms, common areas, resturant and service. Francesco, Monica, and Gianluca will gladly help you with anything you need like setting up tours. These three are very good people. The location avoids the crowds and noise of down town. Thank you Hotel Belair and especially Francesco, Monica, and Gianluca.

Room Tip: Invest in a room with a balcony for sipping Prosecco and watching the sun sets.
