“Terribel experience”

This is the most unhygienic hotel we have ever been to. The waiters held around where you eat on the forks, they carried your coffee-cups where you drink, in the beach cafe they put the plastic glasses in the sink and used them again, and they even served a bottle of water with a used chewing-gum inside. When we discovered this, after having drunk some of the water, they promised to examine the water if I signed a paper in Italian, which I did. After several months we still haven't heard a word from them despite phone calls and e-mail, also to the director, from me. The water is probably the reason why we got sick. Dirty bathroom-floor, ants everywhere. We asked for a quiet room, but woke up at 7 every morning, to have hours of noise from tables and chairs being pushed on the stone floor in the breakfast-room upstairs. With a few exceptions in the reception the staff was extremely unfriendly, unpolite and unprofessional, never returned a smile and treated you from the very beginning as if they disliked having guests. The beach closed at 6:30 pm, after that it was forbidden to be by the sea. We have been to very many places all over the world, but never experienced anything like this hotel.

We are sorry to hear that your stay with us did not meet your expectations and we are sincerely very surprised because your review comes after hundreds of extremely good ones.
Our property follows the highest standards in terms of hygiene and service. This seems to be confirmed by the guests who marked the cleanliness of the hotel and the service 5 out of 5 on most reviews.
The plastic cups at the beach bar are not disposable and are meant to be washed and re-used as it is forbidden to use glasses at the beach for safety reasons.
Regarding the analysis, we are constantly urging the firm that produces the water to have them.
Our hotel is renowned for the friendliness and professionalism of the staff (again please have a look at the very many previous reviews).
Anyway we are very grateful for your feedback because every review, no matter whether positive or negative, helps us to improve all the time.
We are so sorry that an infortunate inconvenience spoiled your holiday, but we hope that you may reconsider to return to visit us on another occasion and that we will be able to make your stay a very nice one.

Great way to end a trek around Italy! The staff was so friendly and each shift knew who we were. I find that remarkable. The ocean view, morning breakfast and spacious rooms were very nice. Although it's a short walk into the shopping area, there are cars for restaurants that will pick you up and return you. We never did because the weather was perfect. The waiters were also very friendly and social but not too much to be a bother. I'd love to return to this place again.

This will have been our third visit to this sensational hotel, and as before we were not disappointed . From the moment we arrived we were greeted like old friends , the welcome we received at the reception from the concierge Ciro, to the porter who escorted us to our room,as before a beautiful side sea view over looking the Bay of Naples ,it was just like coming home. I could wax lyrical about the Riviera, the amazing breakfast buffet, the 4 course dinner at night, excellent, my mouth is watering just remembering, and of course the exquisite decor of the whole hotel, but for my husband and myself the key to the success of this 4 star hotel and its real treasure is the staff. From the restaurant staff , to the bar staff in particular Claudio, the concierges at reception, even the ladies who cleaned our room so beautifully every day I'd love to name you all , but just want to say a big thank you to you all for a great holiday. I would like to finish by saying one must not forget this hotel also has the best location in the whole of Sorrento. See you soon Riviera , can't wait you're a 4star hotel that rates as a 5 star.

We have just returned from a 10 day trip to Sorrento and stay at The Grand Hotel Riviera. The hotel was exactly as detailed in the brochure, immaculate decoration, spotlessly clean with very friendly and accommodating staff. Comprehensive buffet breakfast and enjoyable, tasty dinners. The bathing platform was excellent, and a pre dinner drink in the bar overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius was magical. A 10 minute walk into town was straightforward via a street lit path. Sorrento was buzzing and perfect to sit with a drink and watch the world go by. A perfectly relaxing holiday. Recommended for couples.

In September this year we spent two unforgettable weeks at Grand hotel RIVIERA in Sorrento. The hotel is 10 min walk from the center of Sorrento, in a very quiet place with a wonderful view over the Neapolitan bay, Vesuvius, Sorrento. Each evening we enjoyed the beautiful sunset, the unforgettable colors of the sea and sky from the upper terrace of the hotel.
Big advantage of the hotel is its own beach that is situated near the foot of the mountain, with a small café, with free towels and sunbeds.
The hotel is very cozy, has a beautiful hall, terraces with a sea view.
Our room with a side view over the sea and Vesuvius was not big, but very cozy. The bed mattresses might seem a bit hard for the people who are accustomed to sleep on the softer beds, but it is a matter of taste. The hotel kitchen was really good – big breakfast, a wide variety of Italian food for diner (starter, main course en dessert – a choice of 6 courses). The meals have not been offered twice during two weeks. Two – three times a week we had live music at the hotel. The musicians played wonderful Neapolitan melodies.
We were impressed by the personnel of the hotel. The reception was always ready to help, to give advice in any situation. The hospitable managers and waiters created a wonderful atmosphere at the restaurant. The room service was also excellent – every day our room was cleaned.
Gianni and Cino (reception); Giovanni, Luigi, Govanna, Gennaro, Tonino, Ferdinando and all personal of restaurant, Raffaella (room service) GRAZIE and BRAVISSIMO!
This hotel is the ideal place for those who look for a quiet and comfortable vacation.
We really hope to return to this wonderful place in Italy and this wonderful hotel!

arrived home 2 weeks ago from the Riviera beautiful hotel superb staff looked after from the moment we arrived escorted by a porter to our room very clean.breakfast was lovely sat out on the balcony overlooking the bay of naples with a cruise liner beside you what more could you ask for.hi Gianni thanks for looking after us and antonnio in the restaurant. would recommend this hotel to everyone look forward to going back again

We have been fortunate to visit the Riviera quite a few times and this was our 4th visit in 2013. We had a week at the end of September. What makes this hotel special is the way the staff look after you. They greet you with such warmth that you just don't want to leave. The reception desk is exceptionally run, the beach is a real treat so close to the sea and the tranquility of the bay of Naples. The restaurant team are spot on, headed by Gioavanni, Luigi recommending great wine to accompany the meal, Sonia, Michaela and Antonio looking after us. A Prosecco on the terrace with Claudio, Genaro and Davide is a wow factor as the sun sets! As others have said the location does make this hotel special but for me the difference is the fact it is family run and the staff seem to be delighted that you choose their hotel. We have stayed at other hotels in sorrento over the 22 years we have been going but the Riviera has not been beaten and we are booked in for 3 times next year!
