Just got back from a week at the Europa Palace. First impressions of the hotel were good, all the guest areas are very clean, stylish and impressive. Our room (108) on the first floor with access to a large terrace. Ideal for sitting and has fantastic views over the bay.
As per previous reviews the room was a little tired in places, but clean and comfortable. Air con worked well and was nice and quiet. The food served in the restaurant was to a high standard. A good selection at the breakfast bar and the evening meals were always good quality and well presented. Could not think of a better location to sit and eat in the evenings, relaxed atmosphere and great views over the bay. The staff were all very helpful and polite.
On the down side we felt that the information provided by the hotel for guests was very sparse, you had to go looking for the facilities.
We booked this hotel through Thomas Cook and took advantage of a couple of their excursions. If you have not been to Sorrento before it is a good idea to do their walk about tour, gives you a overview of the town and some of the best restaurants and bars to visit. We also did a boat trip around Capri, this was the best excursion, only a dozen people with opportunities to look around the island and swim off the boat through the Green Grotto. The rep from Thomas Cook was ok, did seem more interested in selling their trips than anything else.
Overall Sorrento is a fantastic base to explore the bay of Naples and there is so much to see and do in the area. The hotel is located in the prime spot and if you like to spend time chilling while looking at one of the best views in Italy go for the up graded sea view rooms.

We stayed at the hotel in early August. We arrived early and our room was ready - a standard room facing the bus station which was ok - the road was noisy but the air con drowned it out most of the time. The jetty area is much nicer than the sea and warmer than the pool so don't bother with the swimming cap! Beautiful views and we always started and ended our evenings on the terrace. Breakfast was ok - the chips one morning were a bit random though! Staff were always attentive and helpful. We had clean towels twice a day and our bed was turned down every evening which was really nice. The hotel itself is very grand and old but we didn't mind few cracks in the walls! It was a beautiful place to stay and would highly recommend it.

This was our second visit to the hotel, after staying here 3 years ago and I have to say it's better than I remembered!

The hotel and room was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast had something for everyone, and the view from the terrace where breakfast is served is truly beautiful.

We upgraded our room to have a sea view - which is definitely worth doing.

If we ever return to Sorrento, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

Hotel Location is amazing. Access to private sun bathing deck right on the water. Elevator from the hotel to water level. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast select top class. All in all well impressed.

Room Tip: As the hotel is right on the cliff face looking over the bay of Naples i feel the extra money for a...

I chose this hotel purely for location, views and reviews I'd read on trip advisor. It surpassed them all. The staff excel and are more than friendly, Antonio became a friend due to his great passion for his hotel and sorrento. The front desk helped me with certain tasks which was above and beyond and for that I thank them. We had a terrace room with a view over the bay and Vesuvius which was truly spectacular. The rooms cleanliness was impeccable, I truly can not recommend this hotel enough. It helped to make it a truly wonderful holiday!!!!

We stayed at this hotel in room 208 the week commencing 21st July with our 14 year old son. Firstly the positives, the view from the hotel and our balcony was just amazing, overlooking the whole bay of Naples with Vesuvius in full view. We were pleased to find that we could actually sit out on the balcony, albeit only 2 of us at a time, as the brochure seemed to indicate that this wasn't possible. The hotel itself was stunning, just as the brochure and pictures showed, old world style. We were pleased with our room, there was ample room for three of us and the bathroom was huge.
The downside for us, was that during our stay there were two weddings that took place on consecutive nights. The weddings took over all the main rooms in the hotel. The first of these nights we were still able to dine al fresco with the beautiful views, not in the usual dining area (the wedding guests were there) but in the area where drinks are normally served in the evening. The second night we were not able to do this. We were basically put in a back room, with no view and no atmosphere. When we realised this would be the case, we complained and said it really felt that the weddings were overtaking the hotel and not allowing us to have the experience we expected while dining. When I asked for us to eat outside this was refused, and said that as had only stopped raining at 5 pm, it had not been possible to set up outside in the area we had dined the previous night. It was really disappointing having to eat in the non descript back room while it was a beautiful evening outside.
I spoke to reception again the next day to make an official complaint, and was told that it was in the brochure that meals maybe served in the small back room restaurant and no guarantee of being able to eat in the larger (more appealing indoor restaurant) or outside. However, on getting home, nothing of the sort mentioned, so will also be making a complaint to our tour operator Cresta.
So be warned, weddings when take place in the hotel, take priority and you may not get the dining experience you expect.
The food on the whole was good, some dishes very good, some slightly disappointing. Would have expected dishes such as fresh mozzarella with tomatoes but did not have. Get the previous point as well about the tinned peas...
To sum up, gorgeous hotel but if went again would go Bed and Breakfast only.

We have jsut returned from a 2 week vacation at the Europa Palace in sorrento, lovely hotel, food was excellent and staff very helpful and friendly. We also had a problem with our room on arrival but the reception staff advised us to go in for dinner and the problem was rectified . 5 min walk from main Tazzo square and railway and bus stations . Beautiful views from hotel terrace . Would highly recommend this hotel.
There is a lift which goes down to swimming pool and bathing platforms both of which are beautiful, towels are handed out upon arrival and nothing is too much trouble for the staff on the jetty.
