“Perfect honeymoon :)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2014 via mobile

My husband and I booked a week in Sorrento for our honeymoon and we settled with choosing hotel Atlantic Palace for our stay and I'm very glad we did. The staff were fantastic- nothing was too much trouble and on arrival to our room we had a bottle of champagne waiting for us- completely courtesy of the hotel. The view from our room was fantastic looking out over mount Vesuvius. One of the best things about this hotel was the food!! It was the best food ever! Prepare to put on a bit of weight. Unlike most all inclusive hotels, the restaurant for the evening meal was run as a waiter service whereby you were able to help yourself to bread, salad, cheeses, meats etc before the starter!! As soon as you sat down a waiter would appear to take your order for the starter and main. Every single meal I ordered was perfect. The staff in the restaurant were so polite and friendly and would always insist on pulling the chair out for me to be seated- many times when I just sat down myself..it was insisted that I stand back up to allow the waiter to seat me properly! The deserts were delicious too. Couldn't fault the breakfasts either. The restaurant manager insisted that because it was our honeymoon, he would have a waiter bring us up everything we wanted one morning for breakfast if we just rang down when we were ready. The hotel are happy to prepare a lunch for you to take if you are going out all day if you let the restaurant manager know the night before. We spent a lot of our time out and about on trips and exploring Sorrento so only went in the pool at the hotel once, it was a bit cold however it was only April so kind of to be expected. I literally have nothing bad to say about this hotel and wouldn't think twice about booking again. I think the hotel has been recently refurbished since we stayed so I imagine it's even nicer now. Hopefully one day we can go back. :)

We have been twice to this hotel, and both times we have had a very nice time,
the food is very good, a good choice of international and Italian meals.
The restaurant staff were fantastic, The restaurant manager Pepe, was so good, very friendly and easy going, having a laugh each meal time, his staff were also on the ball, and we had a good laugh with them all.
Salvatore, played his organ most nights and again the atmosphere was good, and the evenings soon passed by.
There is a free shuttle bus into sorrento, and the driver again was ever so friendly.
If I had to say a negative, the only thing Id point out is how thin the bedroom walls are, the first time we went (may 2012) we were kept up most nights by the neighbours.... snoring!

We booked this holiday twice through Thomas Cook, which was much cheaper than First Choice, but this year sadly, we believe Thomas cook have not got the contract with this hotel.
Hence, we have booked the other hotel Mar Alimuri, just hope this meets the same standards as the Atlantic Palace.

We do recommend this hotel to anyone who is pondering about going, And would definetely return to this hotel again... at similar prices we paid previousley,

Rock on pepe and co, Bella Donna and the commandant, and husbands.

Room Tip: On the front of the hotel, better views. but rooms at the back are not bad. Its just the thin walls...

We stayed here last year for two weeks in July we stayed all inclusive. I would say it was a bit too hot this time of year and if we returned we would go maybe in sept/oct.

The hotel is quite large. We stayed on the third floor didn't have much of a view but had a terrace at the end of the corridor only one room after ours so not far to go... which had amazing views of Vesuvius and the bay.

The rooms were large, have air conditioning, satellite TV, phone, safe and fridge the fridge was great as you could get bottled water from downstairs and keep it cold for when you went up to your room or sat out on the terrace.

The food was good but not always great... Breakfast and lunch were buffet style. We enjoyed lunch the most... lots of variety hot and cold... plenty of salads loved the bbq and the pizza best ive ever tasted on one occasion I went up for a slice of pizza and they didn't have ham and pineapple this day then ten mins later the chef appeared at our table with two slices of freshly made ham and pineapple pizza for us... lovely

Lunch was always served outside on the court under large shade.... evening meal you could eat inside or out... this was a menu with 3 courses and if you didn't like what was on the menu you could always ask for what you wanted and the staff would always do their best to provide this for you.

While the hotel has a pool, it was quite crowded and some days struggled to get a sunbed But if you fancied a quick dip to cool down then its perfect for this. there is a poolside bar which was great for a cold or hot drink and even provided ice cream oh and towels.
When it was crowded or when we wanted some peace and quiet we would on go and sunbathe on the terrace by our room we were able to get a sunbed from the roof terrace the next floor up and relax reading and admire the stunning views.

The hotel has a free shuttle bus that runs on the half hour to the town centre, we found it great for going down into town you need to reserve your seat the day before and in the evening there is a charge of one euro per person .. the driver was very helpful and informative.

They also provided a laptop in reception for your personal use which was really good if you needed this.

overall we had a great stay the staff helpful and friendly and we would return to this hotel.

many thanks for a lovely holiday.

We stayed here last year for one week in June and were very impressed by the level of service and the quality of the hotel. As we had booked for all inclusive i cannot comment to much on the individual pricing of food or drinks or if it offers value for money, but what i shall comment on is ll experience that we were fortunate to have had.

The hotel is deceivingly large and has rooms and private villas located in around its ground. We stayed in a new wing just off from the main hotel with a view that looked out over the Bay, which was pretty spectacular. In fact all of the front facing rooms will offer this, however the rear facing rooms get a lovely view of the cliff face behind the hotel.

The rooms were bright and airy and had all the modern conveniences that you would come to expect from a hotel of this type, including a decent if not small array of toiletries, water, air conditioning, satellite TV, phone, safe and fridge. The beds were comfy and practical and very spacious. Fresh linen was delivered daily if you wanted it and the beds were changed promptly each morning by friendly service staff who always said hello. This was a trait of all the staff who by and large were polite, efficient and eager to chat about your day or what your plans were. Front of house staff on reception were always around and were more than happy to arrange for transport links, bookings for dinner or general i formation on what was on offer in the region.

The food was good but not in my mind great. Breakfast and lunch were a strictly buffet style affair with cooked options available if you requested. Personal preferences and specific dished could be asked for and usually if they could make it then you could have it. Dinner was a full sit down menu with silver service at times and there was a range of meal on offer, that usually included a meat, vegi or fish dish. A buffet made up of the leftovers from lunch was also provided for additional usage should you so wish. Wine and drinks came with this and the selection on offer was fine for what you wanted.

Lunch was almost always served outside on the court and provided shade and comfort in the middle of the day. Breakfast and dinner were in the main dining room which was elegantly decorated and in the traditional Italian style. One nice touch was that the hotel would provide you with a packed lunch if you were going out and about and were going to miss lunch or dinner. This proved useful as we were exploring the region by car and not to have to worry about stopping for lunch or a snack made life easier. It was a simple package but lots of it and included fruit, bottled water, sandwich, chocolate or cake and napkins. This could be ordered the night before and was ready for pick up at the time you requested, usually just after breakfast.

While the hotel has a pool, it is not a great one and is more of a play pool for kids and families rather than a full on, everyone in kind of pool. Nevertheless we were able to find shade around it and relax on some days reading books with out to much bother. The usual pool side noise is expected and we were pleased to say that sitting around next to the outside bar was a very relaxing place to read ans to just chill out. If you do have kids and they are pool crazy, then its ok but not much fun, there are no slides or inflatables and its very basic. But if you fancy a quick dip to cool down then its perfect for this.

As we had a car and were out and about a lot, we did not make much use of the free shuttle bus that runs on the half hour to the town centre, Its a 15 min walk if your up for it or a 5 mins ride, but when we did use it we found it perfect for going down into town in the evening as the last pick up is around 11:30 which made it ideal for using after dinner in the hotel or for getting down to reservations n the town itself. As i mentioned, we had a car, and were able to park at the hotel for free in their main car park at the front of the hotel. If you are doing this then check with reception as they may wish you to move it if they have a large coach coming in or they may not have room, if not then there is an auxiliary car park behind the hotel and up a very steep hill. Try and get in the main one as the hill is tight and narrow and if you have a hire car any wider than a small hatchback then your going to struggle up it.

Overall this i a great hotel and does exactly what you need it to.

Highlights and plus points:

Great service
Good value on all inclusive
Good food and selection of drinks
Decent amenities
Good sized rooms
Large public spaces
Free WiFi
Family friendly
Old style Italian service and style
Free parking
Free shuttle bus to town

Negative points:

Pool is very small
Auxiliary car park is very tight and difficult to get to
A little out of town

If you want somewhere that concentrates on service and quality, then this is a very good hotel to experience that where you will feel relaxed and able to enjoy your holiday to the maximum.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and front facing, otherwise you will see nothing but cliff face!

Situated on the top of a hill going out of Sorrento on the road to The Amalfi coast, a regular bus service is provided to get to and from Sorrento, until eleven o clock in the evening. A bus service is also run by the hotel, which you have to book. a free service.Going all inclusive there was no limit to any drinks . the food was first class,as was the wine. it has its own outdoor pool with sun recliners situated in a pleasant spot next to the ice cream parlour. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, Entertainment was provided most nights .Definately a holiday for families

Room Tip: all rooms had balconys, best of the sun to be obtained by a front of hotel room.

Stayed in late sep/early oct when weather could have been better but it didn't stop us from "doing" all the local must do sights using local buses/trains. Our big regret was having the packed lunches instead of the cooked ones. Thankfully we were back for the sumptuous dinner. I'm normally indifferent to food and maintain a steady ten stone but after two weeks had put on over a half a stone(since gone). The staff were first class and nothing was too much for them whilst we were there. Had a great holiday with a top floor room which was a bit noisy and didn't get the best of sunshine. Having read that the mattresses were hard I emailed reception three times to ask them to provide a topper on our twin beds : had no reply and on arrival found our room made up as a double without a topper ! Not impressed with that but eventually sorted it out direct with the maid.
Would I go back ? You bet, but not just yet, have a lot more of Italy to explore.

Room Tip: Third floor back rooms are quieter and sunny but no views while the few rooms on the 4th floor(payin...
