We have just enjoyed an 11 night break at the atlantic palace hotel with first choice holidays. We arrived at the hotel at 9pm and were swiftly checked in by very welcoming staff. The front desk staff told us the restaurant had been kept open for us,so we could enjoy an evening meal which was most welcome. The hotel is situated just 20 minutes walk out of sorrento on the main coast road which can be a little noisy at times. The hotel has 4 floors with two lifts and a small swimming pool on the 1st floor and grassed area on the 2nd floor for sun bathing with 3 jacuzzies. They are currently constructing an outdoor dining area and spa area which are expected to be open later this year. I must say that the dining experience at this hotel is very comprehensive, with all tastes catered for with a very dedicated staff, were nothing is to much trouble. All the staff of the hotel are very friendly and have every guests comfort at the forefront of everything they do.The only negative thing we found was the hotel didn't have a separate area for wedding parties to have there celebrations which did impact on other guests in the bar of the hotel. And the evening entertainment is just a singer in the lobby bar which was at times very loud. Overall we had a terrific time at the Atlantic palace hotel and thank all the staff for making our holiday a pleasant one.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of hotel face main road, and can be noisy due to traffic. Sea view rooms best on 3...

We stayed for a week and luckily upgraded to the annexe which meant we had a roof terrace with lovely views of the Bay and sun beds all to ourselves. The hotel staff were really good and the hotel was clean. The food however was a huge disappointment (with the exception of lunch) which was freshly cooked pizza or BBQ and a huge selection of ice creams. Avoid the coffee at breakfast (awful) and although there was a large table of breads and pastries everything dusted in icing sugar. The salads in the evening were good but the cooked meals were often cooked poorly, not much flavour and did feel mass produced. The dining room had no atmosphere just a huge canteen really and the outside eating area very drab. I thought I had seen advertised when booking a roof top bar with views but this didn't exist. Entertainment really poor. We did like the garden though and the decked jacuzzi's. Hotel on very busy road too though it was possible to walk to a lovely coastal swimming area by an old Roman villa which was really lovely. So all in all mixed review not sure we'd go back to The Atlantic Palace any time soon.

Overall Hotel Atlantic palace was wonderful and the staff were fantastic. We arrived late on 2nd June due to a horrendous journey from Naples but they still sorted us out a meal.

There are a few things that could be addressed. I do agree with peoples review that rooms situated at the front of the hotel are not great for noise. It is very noisy and is not a great sea view room like we payed extra for. Don't get me wrong the rooms are lovely, but two single beds put together and also very noisy. (Noise from traffic outside and noise of water running in other rooms, can hear people go to the loo and flushing toilet, closing drawers etc).

My sister had a problem with noise from her room which was situated above the hotel lobby and evening singer who was the entertainment.

Evening entertaintment was non existent really apart from a singer. I would say pretty poor on entertainment front. Not great for kids.

Also I think that it should be noted that this is not really great for a family holiday with children. Don't get me wrong - my son adored the staff as they were so attentive but there is nothing for the children to do. There is advertised that there is a sister hotel that you can get a shuttle bus service to in order to go to the beach, but this is not really the case. We had to take two shuttle buses to get to a secluded sister hotel which doesn't have a proper beach that children could paddle in. It is rocky and not a beach that you can sit on.

We had to pay a huge amount of money to go and sit on the beach at the marina instead.

Food is excellent at this hotel and we had amazing meals every night.

Room Tip: Don't choose a sea view room as will disappoint and very noisy due to road. Not a great sea view...

arrived on the 16th June 14. Booked this hotel for our honeymoon. We arrived at 10 in the evening and greeted by very welcoming reception staff who told us to leave our bags in our room (they were taken to the room for us) and have some supper and a drink, which was fine by us.

I have to say, the food thus far has been excellent, lots of variety, fresh and very tasty. The room, third floor at the front of the hotel (we did ask for this, and got it) is very moden, bright and clean, it is also very very noisy as it's right on the main road, we new this but did not realise how much. It's fine with the doors closed, but not at all relaxing sitting on the balcony. As I said, we asked for this so can not critisis the hotel, but bare this in mind. The view is outstanding, just noisy. The rooms at the back look out over the pool/gardens, wish we had asked for one of those :).

The hotel bus into sorrento is great, takes about 5 mins. We got a taxi back, very expensive, €20, a local bus, which stops outside the hotel is €1, an expensive mistake, we learn.

The hotel staff have been very helpful and friendly, so far.

The rooms have A/C and very spaces balconies.

Room Tip: Go for the back of the hotel, unless you don't mind traffic noise, although the view from the fr...

My sister and I have just returned from a week's holiday at this super Hotel and I would like to comment on our time there. It is approximately two hours drive from Naples airport but a fairly scenic one if you are travelling in daylight. We arrived at 5.30pm and the coach left the airport at 6pm. Unfortunately for us it was a Bank Holiday Monday there so the journey took three hours. We were quite fed up by the time we got there at 9pm and extremely hungry too. We were greeted at reception and told our room numbers then asked to just deposit our suitcases in our room and come back down to the restaurant where a lovely buffet had been put on just for those of us who had just arrived. The waiter service was exceptional, very efficient but always friendly and the food was wonderful. Every breakfast and evening meal there was a long table running the length of the room full of salad, meats, bread (cereal, croissants, fruit in morning). Another table along the top of the room with hot breakfast food, sausage, bacon, eggs and fresh fruit in the morning, desserts and fresh fruit in the evenings. It was self service for breakfast and lunch and waiter service for dinner - with a good choice of starters and mains. Lunch time food was served outside on the patio area and consisted of cold meat/fish, many sorts of salad dishes and for hot food, freshly made pizza's (lovely) or barbequed meat and fish. One of our favourite breakfast drinks was freshly squeezed orange juice which you did for yourself (any other Hotel we have stayed at we had to pay for that), We both thought the food was superb all week and it certainly deserved it's upgrade to 4*. Drinks at the bar were varied, all sorts of cocktails, spirits, wine and beer and they were not the cheap local brands but known one's. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were always polite and friendly. Our Thompson rep was Carl and he was very friendly and helpful. Instead of the usual rep meeting where they try to sell you expensive trips and you end up being there for 1-2 hours, he gave us a short talk about the trips then arranged for us to go in the Hotel shuttle bus to Sorrento where we were shown round the town, given some history about it and sampled limoncello, ice cream, saw how local inlaid wood was made and visited the famous Foreigners Club. Only about an hour and half but well worth it then we were left to wander around and get the shuttle back later. The Hotel has a free shuttle bus into town and you book your out/return times the day before at reception. Despite what some have written about the danger of walking down, we decided to give it a go. Lots of people do walk down and although there is no pavement for about the first 7-10mins, it is quite safe as long as you keep in and then there is pavement all the way into town. We walked at a reasonable pace and it took us about 20 minutes to town, good exercise after all that lovely food. We chose not to walk back but got the shuttle at either 4.15 or 5.30pm just because the heat can be a bit draining. There are some lovely ice cream parlours down the two side streets off the main square and we found a local favourite one where, for two euros fifty cents, got two large flavours of ice cream in a cone. We went to Positano by local bus from the bus station for only six euros fifty cents. Going out it was the Amalfi Coast road, very pretty but, if you are crammed in the bus standing, not such fun for 45mins. Once there it is well worth the trip as it is a lovely town set in the cliff face but there are, apparently, 1000 steps down to it (I did not count). We found out later that we could have got a little shuttle bus most of the way down/up - the up being hard going. Also on returning to the top to catch the bus back to Sorrento, we found a large red bus that did not go all round the shoreline but cut through the land and only took 30mins back. It was a huge amount cheaper than on an organised trip but we did go on one through Thompson's which was the Pompeii/Herculanium day trip. We could have done it ourselves by bus, train and walking etc but for 56 euros we had an air-conditioned coach, tour guide, headphones and door to door service which was better for us than having to do two separate day trips on our own when only there a week. There is a small pool at this Hotel with good sunbeds around it but there is also a grassy area up some steps by the pool where there are many more sunbeds and two jacuzzi's which looked very nice. The Hotel does supply towels so no need to bring one and there is a small snack/drinks bar by the pool and another opening this year by the grassy area. We are both agreed that we want to come back to Sorrento and stay at this Hotel again, partly because we did not get to see Vesuvius and Capri and partly because we thought this was one of the best 'all inclusive' Hotels we have stayed in during the past twelve years of holidaying abroad together. If you have any queries, please feel free to contact me and I will try to answer you question honestly. Final note - the Gala Night on Wednesday evenings is amazing - exceptional food - felt like I was in the Ritz !!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: We were on floor two, room 201, overlooking the patio area so it was fairly noisy at night up until...

My sister and I have returned from a delightful holiday in Italy. We stayed at the Atlantic Palace Hotel in Sorrento. We arrived after a horrendous journey of 3 hours from Naples Airport. This was due to it being a Bank Holiday so nobodies fault just bad timing!

The Hotel Manager met us and said 'Just take you cases to the room a hot meal is waiting in the restaurant'. Wow the food was gorgeous, the waiters could not have been more attentive and helpful - it was 5 star treatment and that's how it stayed all week.

The shuttle bus is great remember to book it the day before but walking down to Sorrento only takes 20 minutes just be careful there is no pavement for the first few hundred yards although the drivers coming up the hill towards us gave plenty of room.

At Sorrento Bus Station you can catch a red bus (faster) or a blue bus (scenic) along the Amalfi coast under 7 Euros return to Positano. We walked down and back but there is a shuttle bus both ways.

Herculaneum is more compact and far more interesting if you only have time for either there or Pompeii both will be far too hot in July and August I fear.

All the people we met were kind, friendly and helpful, learn a few words of Italian and that is appreciated.

Room Tip: I think the 1st floor would have been noisy due to the entertainment being below it. The cleaners do...

We have recently returned from a 2 week stay at this hotel, having read reviews before arriving at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised to find - Wi-fi throughout, pool towels and all three jacuzzi's open in the gardens. initially the room in the annex block felt quite small but we soon adjusted it had two single beds pushed and made up to make one, maybe a little on the firm side for some people ,but to my liking, plenty of drawers and wardrobe space, free safe deposit box, mini fridge that defrosted one day and left a puddle! as well as a reasonably clean bathroom with a shower.I say reasonably clean because some of the sealant around the bath had been redone but a 6 inch strip had not been, this was done later on in our stay, the shower curtain had seen better days, as had the shower head, nozzles blocked and so high a 5'4'' person could barely reach it to adjust.I did not notice any road noise even though our room faced the road. Air conditioning was set at a minimum temp of 20'.The only area in the evening was a large comfy seating area but this could get very noisy with the "entertainment"(playing recorded music and singing along to it with extra accompanying music!) getting louder to cover the guest noise and so it went louder and louder- no where to sit inside and have a quiet drink!/read.also nowhere to sit in the day time with comfy seats and shade that was quiet, mainly sunbeds, few brollies, none in the garden and the grass also got quite long so got bitten!!.Believe it or not we did actually enjoy the hotel but i don't think we would return there. food was good and varied, just would like to see the food before ordering, drinks good choice and plentiful-don't ask for a coffee at the bar before 10 am.-you will be told NO !and not even a smile. Also be aware that housekeepers will remove what they consider rubbish from your table/desk in the room, not what i want them to be doing!and i thought housekeepers were told not to do this sort of thing, only remove whats in the bin.
