“Excellent value”
Reviewed 7 December 2007

We spent three nights here and found the hotel to be excellent value for money at €60 per night with private bathroom. The staff were warm and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable, with a good bed, a sofa, and plenty of room to spread out. The location is quite good, only a couple of minutes from the bus and train station, and a fairly short walk into the historic centre. The hotel is on the edge of the suburbs, and so if you walk away from the centre there are local shops - the pizzeria/friggeria (sells deep-fried nibbles) just up the street is fantastic.

The only complaint we had was street noise - traffic is very loud even at night and there is some noise from neighbours, even with the shutters closed. We were glad we chose a room on the side, not with a balcony overlooking the street.

We used Sorrento as a central base for visiting Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Amalfi Coast on day trips. We didn't much like Sorrento itself - the scenery is lovely but it is overrun with tourists, and as a consequence the food etc. is not great compared to other parts of Italy (unless you like chips with everything).

We arrived in Sorrento in the late afternoon and fortunately found this hotel. Linda greeted us like an old friend and was helpful and charming throughout our 4 night stay. The room was very clean (and was cleaned daily) and the bathroom was clean too. Breakfast was included in the (very low) price and when we didn't have breakfast for 2 mornings, Linda reduced the price for those days. Great location for us as we didn't want to be in the middle of town (too noisy) and it is only a short walk into town and also very close to the train station to go to Pompeii (on that note, I highly suggest avoiding the train around 1pm as loads of noisy children squashed onto the train beside us making varioius animal noises - yee ha!!!) Anyhow, we loved our stay in Sorrento and loved this hotel for its price, location and friendly staff.

Good value for Sorrento. It was close to the train station which was great for going to Pompei. It was about a 5-10 minute walk to the town center and about a 20 min walk to the port. The owners were very nice and the room was clean. The blinds did a good job of blocking out most of the traffic noise so I had no problem sleeping. I didn't have a balcony, but I believe they do have them.

I can't understand why anyone would give the Pensione Linda a bad review. We paid less than $60 Euros per night, the room was clean, the owners were very cordial and the location was excellent. If not for me leaving my passport and then having to travel from Frosinone to retrieve......... would have been even a better experience. I would definitely return, without hesitation.

Grazie signora e sua figlia.

OVERVIEW:
Hello!
I've been recently travelling with two other friends down the Amalfi coast and stayed in Sorrento at Hotel Linda over the Easter weekend - mid April. Staying at the hotel worked out heaps cheaper between all three of us compared to a hostel. We got a room with two single beds and double bed room for a reasonable price of 85 euro a night which worked out cheaper than staying in a hostel!

The Italian owners were such lovely people, and although they couldnt speak fluent English, when mixed with our broken Italian they were most accomodating in every way possible. The Italian lady part-hotel owner was such a lovely warm lady and always had a genuine bubbly smile greeting us each time we met her! (she made us feel so welcome and at home in the place)

SUMMARY:
If you're looking for a hotel that is cost effective, very clean, close to Sorrento train station (2 mins walk) with lovely hospitable owners then definately go to Hotel Linda.

enjoy your travels in Italia!

I stayed at the Pensione Linda in September 2005. It was definitely not a positive experience. First of all, the room was still filthy when I checked in. After it was eventually cleaned, I was welcome by a cold shower (and only begrudgingly fixed when I asked it be fixed the next day). I also felt like the hosts did not want anything to do with me - they did not like answering any questions that I had. Also, I did not feel safe walking to/from the hotel. Whilst this hotel is rather close to the train and bus station, I would rather walk a bit closer into town as it definitely felt safer and more lively there. I would definitely NOT go back to Pensione Linda.

We booked a room in Pensione Linda after reading the nice entry in Lonely Planet Italy. In fact, when we arrived we saw very nice rooms from the corridor. But there were not enough beds on this floor so they gave us a room on the upper floor a dingy double room with a shared bathroom even worse, where my friend got a minor elctric shock when switching the light.

The sheets were clean.
