We liked this hotel and the staff were great. We needed parking and that was available and secure. Nice to have a lift so you don't have to climb so many stairs. Desk recommended some close by restaurants and we had a delightful meal. Rooms are plain but comfy and who goes to this area to sit in your room? Planning on staying again in June 2013 on drive back to Rome.

Room Tip: We liked our room on the 3rd floor.

The hotel staff are really excellent here - very friendly and helpful, always with a smile no matter the time of day and very accommodating. The place is charming and our room was enormous. The rooms may be a bit dated in decor but they were comfy and they did the job well. The views are amazing from this hotel, and it is only a short walk in to town (it was well worth the trade-off for the views). The only down side were the creaky doors so you could hear people coming and going from their rooms quite easily. Having said that, one of my other friends was not bothered by this noise at all so it may have just been me. There is also an excellent restaurant a short walk further called Verdemare, don't miss it if you stay around Via Capo!

Room Tip: There are rooms with big balconies, well worth it for sitting out front and enjoying the views at an...

We had a great room with an amazing view. Its only a 10 minute easy walk to town and its nice being a little ways away from town. The room was clean comfortable and its well worth getting a balcony room. The staff was friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions travel times. The only thing they missed was a wakeup call we wanted but we had an alarm clock so it worked out.

Room Tip: Balcony room

I had a nice room overlooking the whole Sorrento harbour. The view was stunning and although the room was simple it was perfect for my needs. It had a bath and shower and the breakfast was good in the mornings. The staff were very helpful and kind. Great hotel!

Location was outside of the main city up on the near hill. It was a 15 - 20 minute walk to town and was no problem.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room with a nice view.

The staff were really helpful, breakfast is nothing to write home about but it does fill you up in the morning. The hotel is basic but it is clean and the location is close to the centre, only a five/ten minute walk up a slight incline that you do not even notice. Book this hotel for the view, it is amazing and made our holiday, lovely to stand on the balcony overlooking My Vesuvius, Bay of Naples and Sorrento.

This hotel literally hangs off the cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples and Sorrento. Views from your balcony are spectacular and there is absolutely no road noise at all! Rooms are clean and neat. You can walk to town/restaurants in 10-15 minutes. Breakfast is average.

We stayed here for five nights in late April, 2013 and enjoyed it very much. I've read the other reviews and I think that your opinion of this hotel will depend upon your expectations and what's important to you. Yes, the rooms are a bit dated and somewhat spartan in decor and amenities (the towels were, indeed, very thin--but they were clean and they did the job), but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable (our two most important criteria), although the pillows were, indeed, flimsy. We never turned the TV on, as we usually don't watch TV when on vacation, but it was very small and mounted high up on the wall. The hotel is out on via Capo--the west end of town--so it is a bit of a hike into the town center, but you can get a bus just outside the hotel. The breakfast was adequate--fresh croissants, juice, coffee, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, sometimes coffee cake.

The view of Vesuvius across Napoli Bay is absolutely stunning--we never tired of it, day or night. The balcony was very nice, and we left the balcony door open one night for the cool breeze. The hotel was lightly occupied when we were there, so I can't speak to the noise issue. Joseph (the manager, I think), and Giacomo were both very nice and very helpful--both speak very good English, but didn't mind indulging my attempts at Italiano.

If you're looking for luxury, this is definitely not your place. But if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay in a nice location, with good staff--Settimo Ceilo will not disappoint.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a balcony.
