Loved Hotel Villa Fiorita. It was such a beautiful little hotel in Sorrento, Italy! The views outside of the double sea view room were wonderful! They also have a terrace up on the top floor where you can sit out and watch over the Sea. The staff was great and always willing to help, even booked the Vespa for us...We just had to show up and pay! I also was very sunburned from sitting on the beach for too long, and the owner went and gave me some of her aloe for me to use! They made us feel so welcome. Large breakfast offered. The only downside was a little far from the city, about 15- 20 min bus ride. We rented a Vespa though, and the drive became the best part :) Best part of this hotel was the hospitality and views.

Hotel Villa Fiorita is good value for family travel. This hotel sits up on the hill in Sorrento and is about a 10-12min. bus ride. The views are spectacular. and a majority of the rooms have an ocean view (I only noticed about 2 rooms that would have a view that are partially obstructed). Don't come here if your looking for the 'Ritz' hotel. Of the 4 hotels our family visited in Italy this summer, this one was the best value for the money. The rooms are clean and neat but not overly modern. The peach frecso walls, the red drapes and the plastic flowers leave Martha screaming but the tiled floors, bunk beds and king bed where always clean, neat & tidy. The bathroom shower has loads of pressure with plenty of towels and no mold (consider the humidity). As tourists, we were only in the room for an hour in the afternoon and 10pm-8am. After that, there is too much to do in the area to sit in the hotel. The pool is clean and is shared with long term apartments next door. You wouldn't realize it until you start talking to people. The views again are spectacular.
In reading NUTRAVLR, I would have to agree with them that the Giovanni was great. He even made special arrangements for us to get to the airport the last morning as we had to be there at 7am and the buses didn't start until 7am. Giovanni even considered what it would cost us by bus/train and ensured that we paid less. He went above and beyond. This was a huge worry off of our minds as we thought we had to hire a taxi (about $130E). I understand how NUTRVLR may think the other staff were not so good. I would agree that they were less than excited to have you there but everytime I saw them, they always smiled. All over Italy, staff don't exactly 'jump through hoops' for you but they are pleasant. As long as you are respectful and courteous, you should have no trouble. The restaurants recommended by the hotel were all good. That story rang through with everyone we ever talked to there and locally. So, if your on a budget and fancy surroundings don't lure you, try this hotel.
Also, if you have kids and road trips are not their thing, take graval as the bus trips up the hill or around the area can put your stomach in knots.
Also, I found out the last day we had high speed internet for free. Didn't know but didn't think to ask until the time I had to confirm our flights. Just a note because all over Europe, the hotels charge you by the hour.

Our 2nd stop on our 4 week trip to Italy was based in Sorrento at Hotel Villa Fiorita. Sorrento is a beautiful town and great base to see the Amalfi coast, Pompei, etc, but there are better hotels to stay at while in Sorrento. On a positive note, we did appreciate Giovani, the aftternoon/evening hotel staff, who's assistance with arranging transportation to local restaurants was very helpful. He was the most friendly and personable of the hotel staff. Otherwise I would compare the staff to the 60's american television family, "The Adams family". They were minimally helpful and hardly cracked a smile our entire 3 days at this hotel.

The hotel is older and clearly has not faired well in the current economy. The breakfast's were fair, but DO NOT order off the menu for an afternoon or late night snack. We ordered "bruschetta" that made Tony's frozen pizza look gourmet. The room we were in was quite small and it had a musty smell. Many things in our room, soap dish, toilet paper holder, were literally falling off the wall and we were fearful to touch anything else in the room to avoid injury.

Most annoying however, was the lack of assistance of the other staff. We had discussed our interest in visiting Pompei with staff and unfortunately the day of our planned visit there was a train strike which prevented us from visiting Pompei. When we returned to the hotel disapointed and explained to the staff what had happened they casually let us know that the strike had been planned for "1 month", yet did not inform us earlier in our stay of this, which could have prevented us from missing this opportunity. Of note, staff at other hotels during our trip were conscientious of travel disruptions and were very helpful in keeping guests informed.

There are many other hotels in Sorrento that are rated better and I would NOT recommend a stay here until some capital is invested into improving the overall condition of this hotel and sthe staff take a "hospitality" course for better guest relations.

I enjoyed by stay at this hotel. The people were lovely and the views were great. The rooms were clean and a good size. My only complaint was that the pillows were hard as rock, there was no restaurant at the hotel although they had an arrangement with restaurants in the area so that you could be picked up at the hotel. My greatest complaint was that it was a quite a distance from sorrento and although there were buses it was a deterrent to accessing the city. There was always the timing of the bus that you had to take into account. I really liked everything about it except that aspect. We did not have a car and really relied on the bus. I probably wouldn't stay there again under the same circumstances

The hotel is right on the hillside and has the most beautiful views over Sorrento - we requested a room with a sea view and weren't disappointed!
Sorrento is such a wonderful place and there are many excursions and sites to see; we visited Pompei which was fascinating and made for a very good day out. We also climbed Mt Vesuvius and visited the island of Capri, both fabulous!
The hotel itself was very simple in true Italian style and slightly dated, but we couldn't fault the cleanliness of the rooms and the hospitality of the owners - they were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel has an agreement with 3 local restaurants whereby they will provide a free courtesy car to and from them. I would recommend taking up this offer as all three restaurants are wonderful and the Italian waiters very pleasant and polite.

All in all, a truly fabulous holiday and we will more than likely be returning to Sorrento next year!

We stayed 3 nights, got a large room with beautiful view over the bay of Napoli-Sorrento; if you get on the roof verranda, it is stunning.
The breakfast was good with tasty bread which is not always the default in Italian hotels.
Giovanni wil tell you al the information you need, above the amazing guide they have written for their guests.
We made twice use of the arrangement with restaurant Le Palme (shuttle) and enjoyed very much the food, service and view over the bay. In the third evening we tried another place for the change (Hotel La Vue d'Or ) where the food was poor and expensive.
Tips:
- You can easilly get to Positano and Sorrento by bus. For a visit to Costiera Amalfitana (the cost between Positano and Amalfi-Ravello) I would stay in Positano or Amalfi for another 3 days.
- The excurssion from the hotel to Capri is beautiful. Those who have a sensitive stomach would better ask before about the situation of the sea, since the boat is not big and you might feel like on the back of a wild bull.
- If you get to Ravello , visit Villa Cimberone only for the view (a must)
- Take the boat (hydrofoil) with open dek to Positano(-Napoli): cheap and beautiful.
