“Perfect honeymoon location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 January 2012

We love this hotel! The service is top class. We stayed here on the recommendation of family who stayed here before and we were not disappointed. The quality of food and drink is exceptional, with a great choice each evening. Views of Vesuvius from the rooftop pool or from some rooms are phenomenal, but beware that the water in the pool will be very cold if you travel in April! Our room was cleaned regularly, beautiful furniture and tiling, with a big bathroom and view of the bay from the balcony. As honeymooners we were also treated to a bottle of Prosecco on our arrival. It is just a short walk to the centre of town, but make sure you walk through the lemon groves opposite!

this hotel has to be hands down the best hotel we have ever stayed in!! It is located perfectly in sorrento, the views of the bay and vesuvio are some of the most fabulous you could see, day and night!! We cannot speak highly enough of the hotels staff, they are an asset to this hotel. Nothing is to much for them. Possibly the best and most friendliest people you could possibly meet. We would like to thank the fabulous bar staff, gino and flora. The most wonderful dining room staff, enzo, carmine, salvatore, bruno and so many more for making our honeymoon to italy so fantastic!! We will be coming back perhaps for our 5th annivsary. Jay and Danielle room 530 (14th to 28th october 2011)

Gorgeous Hotel. It is only a 5 minute walk into the main part of Sorrento, with all the restaurants and shops. The bus station is only a few minute walk from the hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and spoke english very well. The room was pretty and bathroom was very large. The view from the pool was extraordinary.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in a standard double garden view room. The view from the roof-top pool is absolutely beautiful. The room was large, clean, big bathroom, large TV with plenty of channels in English and Italian. There was a large (for European standars) elevator/ lift.

The main reasons I will always refer people to this hotel:
Unfortunately, I was VERY ill the entire time we were in Sorrento. I was bed-ridden and confined to the room mostly. Since there are lounge chairs on the roof, I was actually able to take the elevator and lay by the pool on the roof-top a few times as a change of scenery. The front desk called a doctor for me. The doctor came to the hotel to my room that day. She was so nice and gave me some prescriptions my husband filled at a nearby pharmacy. We had to cancel an excursion we had booked, and the hotel called the company and explained my situation. We were not charged for the cancellation. My husband found it was very hard to find any kind of take-out food he could bring to the hotel for me, so we had to do room service a couple times. The hotel was having a big buffet event one evening and told us they were not doing room service that night. They offered to have some food from the buffet brought up to the room for us, and they would only charge based on one meal because they knew I was ill and could not get out. They were extremely helpful and accommodating. If I had to get sick at a hotel we stayed at in Italy, this was the one. It was the most comfortable and accommodating of all the places we stayed.

We took our American friends with us on a vacation to Sorrento and stayed in this fabulous hotel. The food was first class and the restaurant staff were so friendly and welcoming, in fact after our first evening, they always remembered our names and room numbers. We were on the 2nd floor. and our friends were on the 5th floor, but our rooms were realy spacious, and were spotlessly clean. The location of the hotel could not be beaten, as we were just a short walk away from the centre. We would definately stay there again.

Room Tip: Our rooms overlooked the garden which I think was probably the best.

We stayed for a week in May to attend at wedding at the nearby Ambasciatore, the larger, sister hotel. De La Ville was friendly and clean and the staff very attentive, especially in the dining room and reception. The bed was large and cosy and the highlight was the spacious Italian tiled bathroom. The view, looking out over the town towards Vesuvius, was good, as this was a side room. The hotel food was fine, but not exceptional. On the first night I made the mistake of ordering one of the sommelier's recommendations for wine, that was shown on the evening menu card. Later I realised that I had ordered wine at 38 euros, rather more than any wine I would buy in the UK. However, it did mean I received very special service from the wine waiter for the rest of the week. The main restaurant was bright and clean and the outside space was used on warm mornings for breakfast. This is a small, secluded garden area at the back of the hotel with lots of trees and shrubs making it very intimate and exotic (pictured).

Room Tip: Rooms at the front face across town a couple of blocks and have excellent, uninterrupted views to t...

spent a week in this hotel at end of October and can honestly say it was a pleasure to be there..extremely helpful staff who dealt with everything with a smile..the weather was, on the whole, very warm for the time of year and the rooftop pool area was a great bonus which allowed us to enjoy the warm weather and also appreciate the fantastic views across the bay to Vesuvius..our room (210) had a view across the bay, but unfortunately no sunshine on the balcony although i would think that in the steamy heat of July /August this might be a plus rather than a negative to be honest.. the room itself was very spacious, beautifully furnished, and spotlessly clean,as was the whole hotel..nice lounge areas and a good bar where they offered live music several times during our stay..the restaurant offered a good varied menu each evening (we were on a half board basis) and the quality and quantity of the food was extremely good.. Breakfast was excellent too with eggs cooked to order by a young chef especially appreciated, no rubber eggs from a microwave!..Sparkling wine available at breakfast if you wanted too ..enjoyed a bucks fizz several mornings..
Overall, a terrific, value for money, hotel..
in addtion to the above the hotel is well sited and extremely handy for everything..Enjoyed lunchtime pizza to die for in Da Francos on the main street a few doors along from the hotel Michaelangelo and an evening drink or two in Bar Ercolano in Piazza Tasso..same views and people watching as in Bar Fauno across the road but at a considerably lower price! We loved Sorrento and this hotel and will definitely go again at this time of year..
