“Family holiday”
Reviewed 31 March 2012

We stayed at the Grand in July 2011. Unfortunately it turned into the holiday from hell with me being taken into hospital for 3 days. Long story! However the staff at the hotel were fantastic. Our two daughters who were 13 & 14 at the time had to be left in the hotel alone whilst my husband went to hospital with me. A member of hotel staff took him to the hospital on the back of his scooter. The care of the staff was incredible. The girls were fed, spoiled rotten actually, with special mention of Marianna and Enzo, but all the staff were second to none. Child care was organised so the girls were supervised at all times. What was an extremely stressful time was made easier by the care and attention by all at the hotel and for that I would like to thank them from us all. We will be back! The Bradley family from England

We have stayed both at this hotel and the Grand Hotel Royale previously. We were concerned that things might not be as good as we remembered. We need not have worried,it was just as we remembered and we recognised most of the staff who went out of their way to help and look after you.Enzo and Carmel were amazing in ensuring you wanted for nothing, gave great attention to detail and welcomed us as if we were old friends. Our room had wonderful sea view and the lovely maid who looked after us kept it spotless. It was our 20th Wedding Anniversary when we were there and we received a bottle of bubbly complete with ice bucket and glasses in our room,a lovely touch. Situation, service, decor, facilities and food were all excellent and we would scour.e it 11 out of 10. Hopefully we will return soon June and John Todd Sunderland England

Room Tip: We had a top floor room with a large balcony and sea view it was well worth the extra cost

First went to the Grand in September 2009 were we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary with 8 of our friends. Had a fantastic time - so much so that I returned last September with my sister for a week. The hotel was just as good if not better. The breakfasts are lovely with plenty of choice and the food in the restaurant was excellent.

All the staff are fantastic but I especially have to say a big thank you to Anna Lisa and Marianna on reception. Anna Lisa for helping us with the problems with our transfer to the hotel and Marianna for finding a ring for us.

As our transfer did not turn up at the airport (which had cost £180 including the return which we did get back), customer services at the airport suggested we catch the local transfer bus which took a little bit longer but was only 10 euros per person (single journey) and went from right outside the airport to the bus station in Sorrento which is only a 5 - 10 minute walk away to the hotel. If we should return then we would definitely use this service again if we were travelling independently.

Once again thank you to the Grand for another lovely stay.

A 10 day trip with our family to Sorrento was made all the more special staying in this wonderful hotel. The photos on the website show an elegant and calm environment and i was a bit worried it would be too quiet for our children - however it was no problem at all. The hotel certainly isn't overrun with kids but all of the staff made a fuss of them and made them feel very welcome. Altough the outside of the hotel doesn't look particularly special the hotel is charming, spotlessly clean and had everything we could need. The location is fab, tucked out of the way but only a 5 minute walk from the centre of everything. No, the food and drink aren't cheap but show me a 4 star hotel on the Italian riviera that is. We paid a bit more for a room on the upper floors, the view of the sea and the volcano was worth it for me. My only gripe - why isn't wi-fi free for all guests. Loved the pools, the downstairs one has lots of great shady spots and in August you definitely need it.

Room Tip: Go for a room on the upper floors if you can stretch to it

My husband and I travelled here with our two boys, 11/13 in April to celebrate my sons birthday, the hotel exceeded our expectations and the service we received was second to none.
The food was exceptional and we never went hungry, exactly the opposite, drinks however were incredibly expensive we found in the town which is minutes away as little corner shop that for a fraction of the price sold drinks and delivered to the hotel, bit cheeky but with kids in toe you need to be careful.

This is a romantic hideaway and not best suited for kids, but they have a ping pong table and we amuzed ourselves chatting and playing chess of an evening the setting is absolutely beautiful.

The rooms were spacious we have two large double beds ( kids had to share ) ok for us as both boys but we lacked the bit of privacy we would have liked.

On the eve of my sons birthday they delivered the most amazing cake and sang to him which was wonderful the staff in the dining area and bar area make this hotel.

I truly loved Sorrento and would go back tomorrow, crime free, safe and clean an truly amazing place, great to do a trip into Pompey which we all loved and to see the mountain that caused so much devastation.

Thank you Italy for a wonderful trip, I look forward to return, Grand Hotel De La Ville, a little bit of music in the evening wouldn't go a miss otherwise your perfect.

We love this hotel! The service is top class. We stayed here on the recommendation of family who stayed here before and we were not disappointed. The quality of food and drink is exceptional, with a great choice each evening. Views of Vesuvius from the rooftop pool or from some rooms are phenomenal, but beware that the water in the pool will be very cold if you travel in April! Our room was cleaned regularly, beautiful furniture and tiling, with a big bathroom and view of the bay from the balcony. As honeymooners we were also treated to a bottle of Prosecco on our arrival. It is just a short walk to the centre of town, but make sure you walk through the lemon groves opposite!

this hotel has to be hands down the best hotel we have ever stayed in!! It is located perfectly in sorrento, the views of the bay and vesuvio are some of the most fabulous you could see, day and night!! We cannot speak highly enough of the hotels staff, they are an asset to this hotel. Nothing is to much for them. Possibly the best and most friendliest people you could possibly meet. We would like to thank the fabulous bar staff, gino and flora. The most wonderful dining room staff, enzo, carmine, salvatore, bruno and so many more for making our honeymoon to italy so fantastic!! We will be coming back perhaps for our 5th annivsary. Jay and Danielle room 530 (14th to 28th october 2011)
