We stayed at the hotel during Easter Week. The hotel has a beautiful view of the bay of Naples, and Mt. Vesuvius. We had 2 superior rooms on the second floor and a triple with a view of the gardens for my three nephews. The all glass view with a little patio and chairs was great. We went for a five minute walk and got some wine to have on our balcony. The hotel is not right on the cliff but a great location to walk to Piazza Tasso and all over Sorrento. Big tv with lots of English channels which is unusual in Europe, nice size bathroom beautifully tiled, 2 chairs and a table. I would stay here again in a minute. The breakfest was very good....the woman that cooks the eggs is a delight. All the waiters were very friendly! We had a tour with Umberto Izzo of Italydriver.com who took us to Pompei, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello.....and on our last day we stopped in Caserta on the way to Rome because we found out my husbands Grandpa was born there. Umberto was so sweet and helpful in every way. We enjoyed him and when we were in Rome for 5 days we missed him. He also took us to La Tagliata, Positano.....on a cliff overlooking the sea...so much food and drink. It was cool so the pool couldn't be used. The garden is stunning!! We didn't even check out the 2nd pool.

Room Tip: Very good view from the second floor, if you want a better view go for a higher floor but all you ha...

Dear Clients,

Thanks a lot for having spent your holidays at the De La Ville and we’re so happy you had such a great time here.

It’s a pleasure you thoroughly enjoyed your room and all the facilities we offer and it’s very nice you also noticed the very beautiful tiles on the floor and in general the traditional and distinguished style that characterizes not only the rooms but the whole hotel.
Dealing with the room again, we’re very happy you liked so much the stunning view all over the bay of Naples it offered.

Many Thanks

The management

The location was great, the rooms were spacious and the staff was friendly. The view from the pool deck is beautiful. We (husband and two sons) enjoyed breakfast and had dinner two nights in the restaurant. Very expansive menu and it was delicious.

The "egg lady" is the biggest asset in the hotel. She was the most friendly, smiling person in the hotel. Give that women a promotion!!

My only negative on the hotel was the one night we wanted to sit out on the patio. My sons ordered a few beers from the hotel bar and we bought some pizza in. There was only one other couple on the patio in the 25+ tables out on the patio. We did not know that the tables were part of the restaurant and were told we had to leave the patio with our carry-in food. I asked if we could move around the corner by the table tennis, where no one would even see us, and we were told no. Very disappointing, as we were patronizing the bar and had eaten at the restaurant the two other nights we were at the hotel. If they were busy out on the patio I could understand the request, but it left me shaking my head in disbelief.

Stayed for a week during the Easter school holidays. Room 515 had a great view, was well appointed with UK plug socket, free Wi-Fi, shampoo, etc and approx. 5 English speaking channels on the TV although we didn't use it much. The electric blinds were a nice touch but the view outside of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples was stunning.
All the staff were very friendly and a credit to the Management and brand. The food was of a good standing, and the lunchtime prices were reasonable.
The bed was really comfortable and all the hotel was spotless. The garden restaurant was pretty but the weather was cool so we only sat in there once. Also a bit cool for us to use the pools but they also looked clean. Location wise it was ideal, set on a quiet road only 10 minutes walk from the town centre.
Final point, just watch out for the Italian drivers-they don't operate to the same rules as us English. You could be waiting a long time at a pedestrian crossing for the traffic to stop!
Highly recommend this Hotel. Great for a week and lots to see and do in the area.

Room Tip: Sea view room on 5th floor had a great view.

I recently stayed at the Grand Hotel De La Ville in Sorrento. The rooms are simply lovely with tile everywhere! Balconies afford amazing views of the Amalfi Coast & Mt. Vesuvius. Staff is the key to what makes this property outstanding. No request is too much, they all go out of their way to make you feel like comfortable & special. Every guest is a VIP here. Enzo, Salvatore, Domenico, DIno, Juzzy (the Egg Lady), Flora & so many others. I can't say enough about this hotel. If you are fortunate enough to visit Sorrento I HIGHLY recommend the Hotel de la Ville. Close enough to walk to Piazza Tasso but far enough away to avoid lots of noise.

This is probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in--and I've had the good fortune to stay at some lovely luxury hotels! It's not that the hotel's furnishings and decor are so sumptuous (although these are very nice, the rooms being done up in a breezy Mediterranean style, with colorful tiled floors and beautiful inlaid-wood furniture), but because of the wonderful staff. Everyone was warm, friendly, helpful, often funny (!): Enzo, the head waiter, Giuseppe, Salvatore and Dino the waiters, the lovely Josepina (aka "signora delle uova", who will make your eggs in the American over-cooked style, if you ask!), Fabiana and Annalisa at reception, Flora in the bar, even the porter and the chamber maids--they are wonderful! No request was too much trouble for them. The hotel is immaculate, and our rooms (there were five of us, staying in three rooms) had balconies affording stunning views over the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The balconies were the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the bottle of delicious prosecco found waiting for us in each of our rooms as a welcome gift on arrival!
The food was another delightful aspect of the Grand Hotel De La Ville. On two nights of our five-night stay we had dinner served in the outside trellised courtyard, which was scented with orange blossoms, accompanied by the sound of a water fountain and soft music in the background. We enjoyed our food immensely, which began with a different and delicious amuse bouche each evening and a gratis round of prosecco. We all enjoyed our food immensely, especially the veal saltimbocca and the wonderful meatballs--and the panna cotta with pistachio sauce! Yum! The breakfast buffet is another stunner, with cheeses and meats, lovely pastries and breads, homemade marmalades, bacon, sausages, potatoes, and eggs cooked to order. It was so nice to linger over breakfast each morning! The essence of a relaxing vacation!
It's a five-to-ten minute walk through a wonderful lemon grove (try the free samples of delicious limoncello on your way) to the center of Sorrento and the shops. There was a little bit of road noise in the evening, but nothing that interfered with sleep--the comfortable mattresses and pillows were very helpful in that regard!
All in all, our six days in Sorrento at the Grand Hotel De La Ville was a magical stay, and we are all looking forward to when we can come again! Next time perhaps it will be warm enough to swim in the gorgeous rooftop pool with the sweeping view of the Bay and the surrounding town. Thank you so much, everybody at the Grand Hotel!

Room Tip: I believe all of the rooms have views of the Bay of Naples, but ask to be sure. The view is superb!

Dear Clients,

Many thanks for having spent your time posting this nice and detailed review

Firstly , we’re glad to get to know that you found our Staff to be so cheerful, kind and obliging from the first to the last moment.

Besides, dealing with the room, it is a pleasure that you noticed and appreciated the lovely balcony and the fine, new and elegant furniture that adorns also the whole Hotel.
Classic inlayed wood characteristic of Sorrento and the typical and wonderful tiles on the floor are definitely the things that give to the Hotel its enchanting and charming style.

Many thanks also for having mentioned the dinner that the Clients can enjoy in the fabulous garden: it is blankly one of our main strength points.

Best Regards,

The hotel is immaculately clean and well appointed. The room even had one English plug socket in the room which was a very usual feature. The room was a good size and had a lovely balcony. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in! We stayed in room 322 overlooking the lemon grove below and some rather ugly apartments across the way. The hotel is only 10 minutes walk from the train and bus station and the centre of town. During the day you can walk through a lemon grove to get to the town centre. We had breakfast in the hotel everyday and Enzo and his team were extremely professional and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The reception staff were okay - polite and moderately helpful in most areas although we would have liked a bit more information available in the hotel on the best way to spend our time we got the best information from the information centre at the Foreigners Club in the town. A must to visit for a good lunch and wonderful view. All in all we had a very special time in Sorrento and this hotel made it more so.

Room Tip: If you want to pay for a sea view make sure you get a room above level three otherwise your view wil...
