“Beautiful Hotel, Superb Service”
Reviewed 26 February 2014

We hadf a wonderful three night stay at Palazzo Marziale. The great service started with our being picked up from the parking garage almost immediately upon our arrival by a most courteous driver who helped with our luggage. The hotel was even more beautiful than the photographs at their website. We stayed in a junior suite, "Passion," which faced out on the piazza and was, in short, gorgeous. The bed was terrific but the highlight was the bathroom which had a large jet tub. There was ample storage and a safe in the room, which was immaculate. We received exceptional service from the staff, particularly Antonella who was happy to help with any requests, Breakfasts were delicious, with hams, scrambled eggs and grilled vegetables, along with croissants, fruit, cakes, juices, coffee and cereals, all served in a lovely dining area. Paola, the owner, makes the cakes herself, one of which was a ricotta chocolate cake which I almost finished myself. Whenever we needed the car we were quickly transported to the garage. On the day we left there was a festival with a parade that closed down the center of town so we could not be driven to the garage, however Antonella helped us take our luggage the few blocks to where our car was waiting for us. We had a wonderful stay and greatly appreciate how Paola, Antonella and the rest of the staff went out of their way to make it so.

For the very fussy bride out there...

I have been recommended Palazzo Marziale as a venue option for my wedding reception by a friend who works in one of the Hotels in Sorrento. I have to say, it could have only be destiny!

The problem was that the first venue location I had booked 12 months in advance, closed without giving me any notice… It was a good thing my fiancée and I went to Sorrento 5 months before the wedding and found out, but the outcome of our pre-wedding trip couldn't have been more perfect!

After some very stressful days, as you can imagine trying to find a new venue, our friend took us to Palazzo Marziale to introduce us to Paola, the owner. Paola showed us around and we immediately fell in love with the place. Me and my fiancée just knew the minute we walked in the terrace, that our search was over. The terrace is stunning and ever so romantic … We felt so relaxed there; and the dinner room, Wow - just breath taking!

Paola made us feel very welcomed and we felt extremely reassured by her professionalism. Nothing seemed to be a problem for her and I felt confident that I didn’t have to panic about the wedding day anymore – just because I felt that she had everything under control.

The wedding day went extremely well and smooth – her team is outstanding, especially Ivan who was in charge of our day. All my guests absolutely loved the place, the food and the service! Oh, by the way the food is outstanding and will really impress your guests, not matter how fussy they are. Ah, and a very good choice of wines too!

As for the bride who is thinking of having the wedding reception at Palazzo Marziale – just do it and you will not regret it! I’m extremely fussy, hard to please and have an eye for every detail, but Paola and her team NAILED IT! I had the best time of my life on my wedding day and I’m pretty sure so did all the 90 guests we had!

So my advice for you is: just book it, relax and enjoy your day, and let Paola do the rest – the day goes so quick that it would be a shame not to enjoy it!

Paola, thank you ever so much for your hospitality and for all you have done for me and Michael. It was an unforgettable day and that couldn't have been achieved without your management and the support of your team!

I’m sorry it took me so long to write the review, but I was waiting on the professional photos. I have uploaded a few but I have a little gift for you which I will send you to very soon!

Baci xx

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved every moment of it. Though a small property, it is very rich in architecture and extremely comfortable. Paola (the owner) ensured our stay was perfect in all respects. The location is fantastic i.e. a 5 - 7 min walk from the main market place and right next to the Sorrento lift which takes you down to the port.

It is easy to miss the place since it is unlike a conventional hotel/B&B since it does not have a big signs staring in your face. That we believe also retains the charm of the place. The breakfast was amazing and had a good variety.

We did have some teething troubles with the A/C when we checked in but Paola ensured it was fixed in time.

We stayed at Palazzo Marziale from 1 to 8 October 2013 (in part to celebrate my 40th and to holiday on the Amaflie Coast). This is a truly impeccable hotel and the service that is offered by Paola, John, and all the support staff, is second to none. Housekeeping were amazing and nothing was too much to ask. We stayed in a junior suite. which overlooked the bay and cathedral. The furnishings are superb; you can see the inidividual selection in each piece of decor. The bedding is sensation and offered many peaceful nights of sleep. The bathroom is better than the photos, it is very large (especially the spa) and well appointed. Breakfast and coffee each morning are fantastic, and the freshly baked cakes change each morning. You can access the surrounding of Sorrento with ease from this location. Access to wi-fi was great. Overall the hotel feels like home and you are made to feel very welcomed.

We enjoyed our stay at the Palazzo Marziale. The hotel has only 5 guest rooms. Ours was spacious and comfortable, with our window overlooking the old church and the very short walk to the scenic view across the bay to Vesuvius. The bathroom was large and well equipped and our room had a sitting area and a small table and chairs near the fireplace. The rooms throughout the hotel are beautiful with very tasteful antique furniture. On Wednesdays, the hotel is "closed". This did not affect the service we received. Paola is only a phone call or doorbell ring away. We had envious looks from passing tourists, as we used our key to open the ancient front door on Wednesday. The continental breakfast is quite good and the young waiter could not be more helpful and pleasant. We dined twice in the adjacent restaurant, Terrazza Marziale, also owned by Paola. Again the surroundings are beautiful, the staff very friendly and the food was delicious and a break from all the typical Italian food we had been eating. The hotel is very conveniently located for all the restaurants and shops of old Sorrento, a short descent to the marina to catch the ferry and a 10 minute walk to the train station. I do not hesitate to highly recommend the Palazzo Marziale.

We had a very enjoyable four night stay at the Palazzo Marziale over the summer. We could not believe the position of the hotel, where you walk down the front stairs, across the road and you are on top of the cliffs with an amazing view out over the water. Mount Vesuvius is across the bay and the sunsets were just spectacular.

The hotel itself is lovely. Our room was well-appointed with a large bathroom and comfortable bed. The free wifi was also good. The breakfast was very nice each morning, and we also had some delicious cocktails in the bar before heading out for dinner on a couple of nights. The hotel is also well positioned to walk through the side streets into the main square, with some nice restaurants within a minute's walk.

Overall, we couldn't have been happier!

We have just returned from a five night stay at Palazzo Marziale (10th to 15th October 2013).

There are a number of aspects which make Palazzo Marziale a truly special experience - the great central location, the lovely decor and furnishings, the spacious and comfortable rooms, but above all it was the owner Paola Savarese and her friendly and helpful staff that impress the most. This is not a sterile, corporate hotel that simply processes you, it is more a warm invitation into a special family home.

Our arrival date coincided with a French air traffic controllers strike (10th Oct 2013) which had delay or total cancellation potential. We had booked the airport transfer through Paola so we let her know and she fully understood that if we were delayed, or worse had to cancel, it wouldn't be our fault. She also put us in contact with the airport transfer company and we had regular text and telephone updates to make things seamless and stress free. We couldn't have asked for more help and support in tricky circumstances.

Finally, we should mention the food. There is a delicious and freshly prepared traditional Italian breakfast buffet with fresh coffee individually prepared every morning... a great start to your day! The terrace restaurant is a lovely setting and again the meal quality and service won't disappoint, competing very well with the local quality restaurants.

All in all a great stay and definitely worthy of a "highly recommended".

Thank you Paola, Philip and Janet S.
