Just returned from great holiday in sorrento . Hotel is 5 mins walk from main square, ideal for bars restaurants and shops . Rooms are clean and comfortable , daily maid service . Breakfast is good . Would recommend a room overlooking the pool with a balcony as rooms at front are noisy from the road . The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful , nothing ever too much trouble . Especially Lara , Theresa and Veronica . Thank you xxx

Stayed: April 2014, travelled as a couple

My wonderful Fiance booked a week long stay in wonderful Sorrento and at the Hotel Capri! For anyone looking to book a hotel in Sorrento town then look know further, it's literally a 1 minute walk into the town square. The rooms are big enough and very clean. We have a balcony over looking the pool which i would definitely recommend as you get the lovely evening sunshine whilst you sit and sip a glass of wine ;)
The water temperature in the shower for me was alittle on the tepid side and after letting the lovely ladies know at reception it was soon sorted and nice and hot!!

I would like to give a massive thank you to the very lovely Veronica, Laura and Trisha. They were all soooooo helpful, on what to do in the area, what restaurants are best to go to and they really did make our stay extra special, it wouldnt have been the same without seeing them every morning!!

When we had our welcome meeting with our Thompson Rep we were very excited about the trips to go on but wow were they expensive, so instead we used the very nearby train and bus stations to get us to all the best site seeing attractions. For example we took the train to Pompei which cost around 7euro's each, however this was our version of a travel card, so it can take you all the way to Naples and back, Mount Vesuvio and Herculano, just get on and off as much as you like so its very cheap. It was then 11 euros to get into Pompei and either 12 each for a group guide or 5 euro's each for a phone audio. We went with the phone audio and it was fab.

Restaurant wise; for a really amazing Pizza go to Franco's which is pretty much opposite Hotel Capri, the restaurants in the square are all very yummy. We loved 'Inn Bufalito' the mozzarella is simply beautiful and the seafood spaghetti and the Buffalo Steak.

Apart from that.... enjoy...oh and for cheap but yummy wine go to the nearby Supermarket called 'Deco' you can get fab house wine for 1.60 euro a bottle it was very, very nice :) enjoy

Room Tip: definitely get a balcony to enjoy those evening sunsets :)

We stayed in the Hotel Capri for a week in April 2014. The hotel staff were very welcoming on our arrival and gave us lots of advice about what to see in the area and were keen to tell us about special Easter processions that were held in Sorrento during that week which I thought was a nice touch. The hotel is decorated in a tasteful modern style and the room we had was generous and very clean. We opted for a room at the back with a balcony. This was a little more expensive but worth it as it was quiet and also it was enjoyable to sit out with a glass of wine. The room had a fridge so we could chill the wine. It also had a good hair dryer in the bathroom. The breakfast was a buffet style but the choice was extensive. I was relieved find lots of fruit as I am used to the bread, ham, cheese and cake style of hotel breakfasts in Italy. They did have this too but also cereals, toast and so on. You were able to have as much coffee or tea as you liked. The staff were very friendly and helpful in the dining room. The hotel is next to a public garden full of lemon and orange trees. It was very pleasant to sit in there eating an ice-cream bought from the shop virtually opposite the hotel. There is also a great pizzeria very close by called Pizzeria Franco which was excellent and full of Italians-a good sign. There is a supermarket about 5 minutes walk away which we found very useful. The train and bus station is also a 5 minute walk away which made it very easy to explore other places such as Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi, Ravello etc. All of these places are accessible on public transport. It was a short walk to Piazza Tasso which is the main square in Sorrento. Sorrento itself is a great place with some lovely sea food restaurants in the Marina Grande. It is also a good place to shop. I would definitely recommend stopping in Sorrento at this hotel and hope to re-visit some day.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a room at the back with a balcony.

We have just returned from staying at the lovely Hotel Capri in Sorento, Italy. We stayed between 11 and 18 April 2014 which we booked through Thompson. The hotel is clean and modern with stylish deco. We paid extra to book a room at the rear with a view overlooking the swimming pool and their garden, which is a tip we read on trip advisor, thanks. The hotel is centrally located and the main centre piazza Tasso is an easy 10 minutes walk away and the main bus and train st. Station also within ways walking distance which we used for many excursions to Pompeii, herculeneum and the amalfi coast. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Next door the hotel is a fantastic citrus grove to sit in and they sell ice cream made with these same lemons across the road. Also a fantastic find right across the road as soon as we arrived was a pizzeria Franco which was full of Italians which is always a good thing have the local wine crema del christo made from the vineyards on the slopes of mount Vesuvius. Breakfast was a typical continental selection with fresh fruit and coffee refills. Note there is no kettle in the room which is to be expected abroad but you really want to try and taste the local coffee from nearby cafés. The staff informed us of the Traditional Easter processions which was very helpful as we might have missed these and they whew a spectacle not to miss. Try and book a room at the rear with a balcony. We went in April and the citrus blossom smelt heavenly. Also if you stay over Easter make sure not to miss the Easter processions such as venerdi santo. On a nice evening walk down to marina grande an enjoy an excellent seafood meal looking out towards the med and mount Vesuvius watching the sun set. We had a great stay and cannot wait to back.

Room Tip: Try and book a room at the rear with a balcony.

We have just returned from 7 days in Sorrento which we have visited before and really like but I feel I must write to say our stay was made that much better by the both Veronica and Laura the receptionists at the Capri. Their friendly manner and helpfulness was evident from the first day. When we dined out in the evenings Veronica always had plenty of places for us to try that had been recommended by other travellers and would always ask if the place had lived up to expectations consequently we had some fabulous meals. After a week you felt like you were leaving friends. Their attentive manner and friendly smiles coupled with a store of maps and knowledge certainly added to a great holiday.

Room Tip: Room at the back with balcony as hotel is on a very busy road
