Carlton International Hotel
Ranked #60 of 100 Hotels in Sorrento

Another hotel that we were very happy with. We booked a three day-two night tour with Odyssey tours in Rome. This tour covered transportation from our hotel in Rome to Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri. We spent two nights at the Carlton. It was very good. Breakfast and Dinner were included in the price. Hotel has Wifi only in the lobby but works fine. Within walking distance to the main attractions in Sorrento (shopping, restaurants, etc.) This tour was conducted by Carrani tours and we had very good service with them. INo complaints.

Room Tip: We were happy with our rooms. One triple and one double. No complaints.

This hotel was very disappointing and did not live up to its four star status
The bed was extremely uncomfortable with a lumpy, thin mattress. The shower was just a curtain around a shower base that was so small that any movement would result in unwittingly adjusting the water temperature or spilling of water over the floor. In the bathroom, there was a narrow glass shelf but nowhere to hang items of clothing to dry. There was no laundry service. Disappointingly there were no tissues provided.
The in room safe was small and locked by a key which meant that as well as a room key, we had to care for a safe key. It was surprising that there were no digital locks.
The breakfast was average with no cooked items. The bar could provide four different items at lunch time - sandwiches. There was no evening restaurant. However there were many restaurants within very easy walking distance. It seemed that the hotel once had a working kitchen and restaurant and possibly a pool bar but it is no longer as it once was.
Positives - easy walking distance to many restaurants and shops, pool setting is nice with many lounges available with shady areas, reasonable views from the sea view rooms.
Would NOT recommend this hotel as there are numerous others in the area which must be better than this.

Room Tip: At least second floor. Sea views are partially obstructed and road is noisy. Adjacent hotel us noi...

We picked the hotel because there was going to be a group of 6 of us and we thought that it might be a struggle getting 6 sun loungers together in some of the other hotels as they all seemed to have small rooftop plunge pools and sundecks. Having read the other reviews we were aware that the hotel was going to be tired looking. It is like something out of the 1970s decor-wise and the pool area/garden could do with some housekeeping. But on the plus side it was in a good location, was clean, there were lots of sunbeds and deck chairs, no screaming kids running round the pool, room was big and clean, air conditioning was quiet which made for a good night's sleep. Our bathroom was nice and new compared to friends in another room. We had a fantastic sea view, well worth the extra money (and you get the sun on the balcony in the evening). The breakfast was standard continental, meats, cheeses, pastries - the croissants were in a warmer which was a nice touch. Nothing fancy but perfectly acceptable for the money.

The hotel had a good location in the center. Nice pool at the backside. We had a double room with a beautiful seaview. The wi fii should have been available free in the rooms. The staff was helpful. The rooms safe should have had the key in it. The breakfast was good.

Room Tip: The seaview rooms are good.

The hotel is in a really good location. It's and older hotel and needs an update, especially to the bathrooms. I don't know how it has a 4 star rating. The breakfast was average. Needed some fresh fruit & greens.

This hotel is very close to Piazza Tasso (city square).
ROOMS
The rooms are little outdated - very "carbibean" themed. The shower was SO small - every time I turned my back hit the shower knob - the curtain was sticking to me and because it's so small water was everywhere on the bathroom floor. Also the keys are not swipe cards - and we had a lot of difficulty with our key.

POOL
What kind of hotel closes their pool at 6:00pm? It'd be beautiful and sunny and they would be closing down. I can see if 'off-peak' times closing but that was just ridiculous. We even asked if we could just sit there and not swim and they said no.

There are lots and lots of restaurants close by. The room had a fridge so my husband and I went to a grocery store close by and bought some wine and water which we had on our balcony before we'd go for supper.

Lastly - I had ordered drinks from the bar it was $19euros and they refused to let me pay with my credit card. Because the room had already been paid for they insisted I pay with cash. I said what if I don't have cash and she basically said I'd have to go find some.

Overall a decent stay - clean, and convenient.

The location of this hotel is excellent and the staff pleasant and helpful. The sea view was great to wake up to each morning. However the hotel is a little 'tired' looking in the pool and lounge areas. My main criticism is the food. The breakfast was OK but disappointing that the majority of fruit was tinned! Do not order a sandwich at the bar. We made this mistake on our arrival. The bread was white processed sliced bread, the chicken was sliced from a packet and the salad was only a wilted bit of lettuce. The sandwich had obviously been made the day before and kept in cling film.

Room Tip: The sea views are lovely but the rooms are noisier that side as there is a road and another hotel ga...
