This lovely hotel is ideally situated for exploring the town and places further afield,as the station and the harbour can be reached very easily. Breakfast in the garden was delightful with a large selection of the usual hot and cold fare plus the pastry chef's daily offering of a mouth-watering array of delicious cakes and pastries. The garden with its small swimming pool was a lovely spot to relax, cool off and enjoy a drink after a long day at places such as Pompeii or Capri, and for those disposed to stay by the pool at lunchtime, delicious salads and sandwiches are available, while for evening drinking, the hotel bar provided a huge range of cocktails, plus anything else that one might desire. Our room, while not very big, was comfortable, though the view left a little to be desired, but we could find absolutely no fault with the hotel staff, who were all friendly, helpful and efficient; in fact nothing was too much trouble for them.Antiche Mura is run with quiet effciency, and the reception staff were extremely helpful,in giving us and other guests advice on places to eat, and booking tables at our subsequent choices. We would be happy both to recommend this hotel, and return ourselves.

First, the positives: This hotel is in a very convenient location just off the main square in Sorrento and within easy walking distance of the railway station. The staff are genuinely friendly and very helpful. The decor and cleanliness of the hotel is second to none, and the breakfast is lovely.

The negatives? Well, there are a couple - we stayed in room 207. Whilst the room itself was fine, the view is a very unattractive one of a run down apartment block. The other negative was that we were informed that the free wifi didn't work with Windows 7 smartphones - so if you are planning to use one via wifi at the hotel, then this may not work (ours certainly didn't).

Overall, we'd definitely go back, but would prefer a room with a better view.

My wife and I stayed here for one night as a prestop to our drive back to Rome and then a flight home. Having visited this hotel we would have liked to stay longer. The hotel is not on the water front but it's about a 2 minute walk to the main square and all of the best shopping, restaurants, the port etc. The hotel is so tastefully decorated it reminded me of an art gallery, it's beautiful. The breakfast room leads out to a garden with a pool and it's really nice and pleasant. We arrived in the morning, dropped our keys at the front desk and within 10 minutes we were in line for a ferry to Capri. When we returned in the afternoon we were taken to our room which was on the roof of the hotel! Aldo from the front desk explained that I had requested a terrace and this was what they had, it was also the only room with a sea view and also a view of Mount Vesuvius. The room was on it's own with a large terraced porch with sun chairs. If we had been there longer it would have been great, privacy plus. The breakfast here was the best we had on our trip to Italy. Again the room itself was a show piece with a beautiful huge central piece of twisted metal in the form of a tree which acted as a light with large bunches of glass grapes which were lights. The breakfast was spread out like a show piece, with hot and cold foods and beautiful arrangements of fresh fruit, very impressive, very tasty. Access to local transportation to other areas is right at your door step. This would be a fantastic hotel to use as a base to explore the area using local transportation (boat and bus). I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again.

We stayed for two weeks while on honeymoon and our experience was in line with all the 5 star reviews of Antiche Mura on this website. Brilliant, helpful staff, great location, superb breakfast, the pool and surroundings are beautiful and we were given an excellent room.

Great Hotel! Stayed 3 nights. We're a family with 2 children (12 & 8) and had corner suite which was very spacious, clean & quiet. Pool area was beautiful surrounded by a lemon grove and very restful after day of touring. 1 block from center of town, making all a short walk including the train station. Central take off point for Pompeii, Amalfi coast, & Capri Island. Breakfast delicious and something for everyone. Staff always helpful and friendly. Would stay here again without a doubt!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Antiche Mura. The location can't be beat - a few blocks from the train station, a block up from the main plaza and the heart of the old town, so convenient to everything and yet it's quiet and serene once you're in the hotel. It's great to be able to join the passagiata in the evening, strolling along the main street (closed to vehicles after 7:30 pm) and the surrounding blocks of shops and restaurants of the old town. There isn't a view of the water (nor are you paying for one!) but I would rather be here than up the hill where you have to deal with riding a shuttle through traffic to get anywhere. And the service was great, very friendly and helpful staff.

We booked a comfort room with a balcony. It was on the side of the hotel overlooking the ravine, just steps away from the breakfast room and convenient to the pool. It was indeed comfortable, with a queen bed and a single bed (could be used as a triple). A welcome bottle of sparkling wine was a nice touch. The bathroom had a fancy shower apparatus with four settings - tub, overhead shower, hand-held sprayer, or a set of horizontal water jets. Minor negatives: the hairdryer was awful (thankfully we brought our own) and we found it challenging to get the air conditioning set at night to where we were neither freezing nor stuffy.

The breakfast was one of the best we've had anywhere in Europe - pretty much anything you could want, from fruit and juice to yogurt, cereal, eggs (scrambled and soft-boiled), meats, cheeses, and a spectacular array of homemade cookies and cakes. All served in a bright, light-filled breakfast room or you could sit outside on the adjoining terrace - lovely. We also really enjoyed the pool area, very nice to unwind and cool off after a hot day of sightseeing, again with great friendly service from the snack bar.

Stayed only 3 nights.. Wish I stayed more. Can't really say much except everything was absolutely fantastic. Staff were all great, room was really clean, can't beat the location, and they have a pool in a citrus oasis. Absolutely perfect hotel and family run so you feel really at home- especially with the sparkling wine they give you complimentary on arrival.. Nice touch!! Can't wait to come back and stay longer!
