Book this hotel for many reasons. The location in the centre of Sorrento is ideal for all the shops, bars and restaurants. The room we had was a 'comfort' room which had a small balcony with table and chairs, ideal for sitting out on in the evening. Although there is no sea view we did have the deep gorge to look at and views of the mountains around. The opening doors onto the balcony have excellent sound proofing which meant that virtually all traffic noise is eradicated. The electrically operated shutters on the windows completely block out the light so you get a good night's sleep. The room has air conditioning and was extremely clean.

The hotel is very well appointed and the staff are extremely helpful and courteous. Breakfast is served until 10.30 and includes everything you could possibly want. The pool area is within a lemon and orange grove and is extremely pretty. There is a bar here and you can order food at lunch time if you wish. Evening meals are not available at the hotel here but there is no shortage of restaurants in the town! The competent reception staff will happily arrange excursions, confirm museum opening times and travel arrangements. Bed sheets and towels are changed every day and your bed is 'turned down' in the evening! There is a laundry service, mini bar and room service if you require them. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms but this is normal for Italy and you can order them with room service anyway.

The hotel is also a few minutes walk from the train and bus station (they are one in the same really). Do catch the train to Pompeii and Ercolano (for Herculaneun). It is very efficient and only costs €4.40 return! The train stops directly outside Pompeii so what's not to love?

The hotel excursion to Capri was also very good with a taxi to the nearby marina and subsequent boat to the island of Capri. €45 each so again, very good value and you do get a tour of the entire island plus a few hours on the island itself.

All in all a very relaxing place to stay. We did a lot of sight seeing, trips and tours so this fantastic hotel was a very welcome retreat at the end of each day. I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. For reference we stayed in room 408 (16-23 June 2014).

Room Tip: We loved our comfort room at the back of the hotel. You get a small balcony to sit on!

We just returned from a 10 day trip to Italy which included a 3 day stay at this lovely hotel. The rooms were nice and the breakfast was very good, but what stood out was how helpful and nice the staff were. They assisted us with arranging a car from Rome to Sorrento, gave advice on getting to Pompeii, told us which was the best pizza place, etc. All the advice was good, and given in as friendly and helpful manner as can be imagined. The hotel is well-situated for walking around Sorrento and getting to the train station or port and is comfortable and quiet. Would definitely choose it again if we are fortunate enough to go back.

We stayed at the above hotel for 2 weeks The thompsons rooms are standard and are really quite small will book direct in future!!
However we ended up in room 600!which was small but had a great balcony and a really nice position in the garden
The staff are so helpful,so good in every way thank you Mario Franceso Vinciente for your professionalism on the reception. Mario and Antonio in the pool bar were equally helpful and consientous
We will definetely return in the next couple of years
We visited many restaurants beaches, Capri,Herculeraneum, Vesuvius by private boat and train
On my husbands special birthday we took a tour with Rosato private Tours which was absolutely fantastic visiting Positano Capri and Ravello
As we stayed 2 weeks we were able to get a really good feel for the hotel In 2012 it was the 7th best hotel in Italy It has so many Trip Advisor reviews that are complimentary and has won many awards throughout Italy
It has a perfect position in a Sorrento close to all the restaurants Marina Piccolo and the station so transfer by boat and train are absolutely easy
The breakfast is great with lots of choice the setting wonderful and if you would like to spend a few hours near the pool in the lemon grove you will be pleasantly surprised re the quietness of the place

We have just returned from a weeks bed & breakfast at this hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were bright and clean (we 'upgraded' to a room with balcony). The breakfast selection was good, though no 'cooked to order' items. The location was ideal for us - right in the centre of town. No sea view, but the garden was lovely, with lemon trees surrounding the pool (I am enjoying a G&T with a slice of lemon from the garden as I write), and the atmosphere was tranquil. The accommodation and decoration was traditional in style, so may not suit those who like a 'boutique hotel' but we found it charming and would certainly recommend.
