“Wonderful Hotel Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

This Hotel was the best of my Italy Vacation......Very Clean beautiful rooms, spacious, and a private terrace. The grounds and pool area were incredible. Lemon and orange trees surround the pool area and you can order a drink for the pool bar and Maurio will make it with there own
lemons.......The Hotel staff was the best of my vacation.....They inquired of our next day plans and provided suggestions.....Always caring and reaching out to insure your every need is met.
Breakfast was excellent and lunch at poolside was outstanding........I will return to Sorrento and the Antichie Mura.

I stayed in this hotel with my two adult children - the rooms are very clean and the beds very comfortable. There was a fridge in the room too, and a bottle of sparkling wine as a gift when we arrived. The pool area is excellent, quiet, clean and the loungers comfortable. There was always plenty when we wanted them, with towels provided by the hotel. The pool bar was great, food available all day and fresh chilled lemonade made from the lemons that grow around the pool. The location was great too, metres from the centre of Sorrento but still very quiet. Ideal as a base for touring - close to the train station and buses. Breakfast was excellent, lots of home made pastries, fruit, eggs, cooked meats, cereal etc. Also free wifi which pleased my family! I really couldn't fault it or the staff, and I admit to being fussy! It's a real gem at a great price. I'd most certainly stay here again.

What a little jewel! Big, beautiful rooms, excellent breakfast buffet, pretty little pool in the middle of a 100 year old lemon grove, and the remnants of the ancient city walls on the grounds. All of which would be meaningless without the excellent staff here. Everyone we had contact with was a pleasure to deal with and very good at their jobs. The wait staff at breakfast and at the pool were excellent, friendly and attentive. The front desk staff were helpful and efficient, and everyone was knowledgable and proud of their beautiful town. They coordinated tours and day trips and transfers to and from the hotel from Naples. The small boat they hired for us to tour Capri was especially excellent and cheaper than we had found searching on our own.

While the hotel does not have an ocean view, it is situated a block back from the Piazza Tasso, so it is calm, quiet and relaxing, yet close to the taxi stand in the Piazza, and two minutes walk from the old town shops, restaurants and the the cathedral.

Perfect. And we can't wait to return.

We travelled as a family with older children. We had 2 rooms by the garden and pool which was surrounded by lemon and orange trees. The rooms were spacious, lovely and had their own small terraces. It is beautiful and so quiet even though you are in the main area of Sorrento. Plenty of shaded areas under the trees. Staff were excellent so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was on the terrace. Great buffet. Lots of local homemade pastries and cakes which looked so good you could not resist even though it was breakfast time. Walking distance to train stn, ferry port and buses. So easy to travel to other areas of this beautiful area. We left rainy Edinburgh very early but by lunch time we were sitting under the lemon trees drinking the welcome complimentary fizz. Definately an Oasis in the middle of Sorrento.

Room Tip: The rooms by the pool and garden are lovely.

Every thing said about this hotel (and more) is true! I really sturggled to find somewhere that wasn't going to cost me the earth (although wiht our exchange rate it still cost a small fortune!), that allowed our family of 4 to share a room, that had a pool to enjoy the Italian sun and that would be a good base for the Amalfi Coast! Antiche Mura had it all and more!

After 20+ years of working in, and visiting hotels, I think this hotel offered the best service ever! Massive call! but there were no bells and whistles and no gimmicks just good old fashioned genuinely friendly staff.

The location in Sorrento is right in the midst of it all but the hotel offers a tranquil get away with the most perfect hotel in the lemon groves, along with a little snack/bar offering cold beer and well priced snacks and light meals, run by the amazing Mario (my daughters are stilll talking about him!). So nice to meet someone in the service industry who genuinley wants to be there.

Bed was comfortable, rooms were dark and air conditioning perfect. Clean and well serviced. Sparkling wine and fruit platter on arrival very nice. Buffet breakfast very European with great coffee (hot food didn't look fantastic but we were happy to stick to cake and bread and fresh fruit!

Front Office team more than happy to advise on anything and everything - booking us a restaurant and babysitter for date night :-) providing maps and directions to everywhere we wanted to go.

Would highly reccomend. Finally although there weren't many children staying there, my girls were welcome and the staff very friendly to them.

Room Tip: We booked a room for 4 (a quadrapule) with courtyard but on arrival requested a balcony room on the...

We booked the Villa Antiche Mura for our wedding reception in June. The villa is 5 mins drive from the hotel, on the seafront. It has the most amazing views of Vesuvius and over to Naples. The grounds of the villa are beautiful, we couldn't have found a more perfect location. Great for the wedding photos! Our guests all loved it and thought the photos they'd seen before arriving don't do it justice.

Organising the wedding via email with Michele the manager was very straightforward and he was very patient, replying quickly to my many emails!
We got married at the cloisters but you can get married at the villa which would likely work out cheaper as no transport is needed. However we loved the cloisters and liked having the different elements of the day. We booked the whole wedding through Ionian Weddings who were also very good.

Transport - Michele recommended Eurolimo who were very good. We used them for airport transfer, wedding car and mini vans to transport the guests to the villa.

Decorations - Michele lets you choose personalise how the venue is decorated. I took my owns lights, pom poms etc but you can also hire decorations from Michele. The flowers I asked for were very nice, if you want more you can pay extra. Michele arranged the non standard seating I wanted.

Welcome aperitifs - we chose the basic option, which included canapés, cocktails, beer, soft drinks and water. We added extra beers, although they didn't all get used up. The cocktails also didn't all get used so the basic option is probably plenty.

Dinner - the wedding was at 4.30pm, and we sat down to dinner about 7pm. The food exceeded my expectations, we didn't get to taste the food before picking our options, so used some tips from other peoples reviews. We paid a bit extra to offer guests a choice of 3 dishes. Everyone enjoyed their food, we had Starters of Parma Ham & Melon, Caprese Salad & Mixed cheese and salami. Pasta course of Baked risotto, Amalfi crepes & Gnocchi. Main course of Prawn & Swordfish, Seabass & Chicken.
Desert was the wedding cake, I sent a photo for the decoration and it looked lovely. We chose a layer of chocolate and a layer of lemon sponge. Both were nice. We thought two flavours would mean everyone had something they liked but people didn't get a choice of which type they wanted.
We bought 10 extra bottles of wine to what was included which seemed sufficient. After dinner, we gave guests vouchers to use at the bar. Michele counted the number used which we paid for afterwards.

Music - we used our laptop which was connected up to the sound system. You can hire a dj or band but we wanted to play our own music. There is a tax payable for music regardless and to use the sound system. The dance floor is great with lights.

Ice cream cart - you can book ice cream to arrive which was a lovely treat at the end of the night.
There are probably other personalised options. It's worth asking what is available as I found the ice cream from someone else's photos.

Hotel - we booked to stay at the Hotel mainly for ease of the wedding. The breakfast is really good, you can sit inside or outside. The pool is lovely, really quiet despite the hotel location in the centre of town. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool staff in particular. Our room was ok, although not very big and it was difficult to hang my dress with no freestanding wardrobe.
We would stay here again, it is very nice and a fantastic location.

We found this hotel through a travel guide and decided to give it a try and I was soo happy I did.. My husband and I were traveling with our 8 year old son and had asked for a rollaway to accommodate him when I made the reservations. When we got there the hotel had upgraded us to a suite that was just amazing. Beautifully tiled, large and updated. Everyone was very friendly and we felt like locals after being there just a couple days.
