Using information gleaned from Tripadvisor, we chose Antiche Mura for a short 4 night stay in June 2009. The location is perfect; 150 meters from the bustling central plaza, yet the delightful Lemon tree ringed pool and courtyard, built atop the ancient city wall, is peaceful and quiet. It is difficult to describe this location adequately, it is truly the best of both worlds. Service was as expected; cheerful and helpful employees, clean and comfortable rooms, and an excellent daily breakfast! Unless you don't want to be in the old town (who wouldn't!), or you absolutely must have a view of Vesuvius, I can't imagine a better spot for a stay in Sorrento

Having visited Sorrento for approx 20 years and stayed in many of the hotels The Antiche Mura is in my opinion the best.I have to mention ALL of the staff they are a great team and it greates a really good atmosphere. The pool and garden are a great feature. Mario makes the best Granita lemons off trees round pool. Try some. The memories of this garden keep me going over the long winter months in the U K Also must not forget fantastic salads at lunch time. We are such fans of this hotel have now booke for June 2010 that will be 4th year.

This is an extremely stylish hotel in the heart of Sorrento just off the Piazza Tasso. Despite the proximity to the centre of Sorrento we enjoyed very peaceful nights in a delightful well furnished room. The pool area is surrounded by the hotel garden and lemon trees and provides a very relaxing atmosphere. The pool bar, staffed by the ever cheery Mario, served a good variety of snacks and drinks. Breakfast on the outdoor terrace was a very satisfying way to start the day! As well as the juices, fruits, cereals, breads and hot food there was a marvellous selection of pastries which were impossible to resist - hence the need to diet on returning home! We will have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.

Visited Sorrento for the very first time. Stayed at the outstanding Antiche Mura in Sorrento. Gorgeous hotel excellently and professsionally run by Michele Savarese w./a brilliant and fantastic staff. The staff makes the hotel - as they have a wonderful attitude and attempt to do their best to please their guests. The rooms are so very attractive and comfortable.

Particular thanks for all their help Ms. Maria Laura, Luigi, Vincent, Susannah, and Francesco.

Breakfast - wonderful assortment of breakfast items especially the Caprese chocolate torte cake.

Would stay in Antiche Mura again.

This hotel is a real wow!

We took our first big family trip to Italy last fall and adored this hotel. Luigi and the entire staff were phenomenal... even manifesting a dive master so my brother and sister could dive one day while my mom and I visited Capri. We had two stylish and spotless double rooms with great views and loved being in the center of town, a bit off the square, making it quite peaceful. The breakfast was the best we had in Italy. Sorrento is a gorgeous, charming town. Will look forward to returning some day.

Although this is a very nice hotel you should be aware when booking the Standard rooms with "opening window" that this window is approx 8ft from the floor and is only a vent which is controlled by a switch on the wall. You are literally looking at four walls with no view to the outside. We immediately requested an upgrade which would have been an extra 100 Euro a night if they had a room available, which they did not. So we checked out and moved next door to the Plaza Hotel. To be fair they did upgrade us for one night to a junior suite at no extra charge and only charged us for one extra night for our cancellation. I feel it tainted our view of what everyone else seems to rate as a good hotel, they should possibly advise travelers of this window situation before hand.

Truly one of the loveliest, friendliest, most elegant and serene hotels we've ever stayed in. We stayed 10 nights for our 25th anniversary in a beautiful room adjacent to the lovely pool and garden. Close to everything in Sorrento, yet amazingly quiet and peaceful. We never missed having a car. We walked, took buses, trains and boats to all points of interest, ie. Capri, Positano, Amalfi, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples. Champagne on ice and fresh flowers awaited us in our room upon check-in. Breakfast buffet is great, especially the terrific pastry table, and it stays open until 10:30 which was great for slug-a-beds like us! Sorrento is beautiful, a perfect base for a holiday with loads of restaurant and shopping options. A perfect hotel in a perfect town!!!
