I am writing this review ten months after staying at this hotel because I find it notable that I continue to think about what a wonderful experience it was. The hotel is located in the heart of Sorrento. Everything you could ask for in a hotel is offered at Antiche Mura. The breakfast was out of this world. The staff was perfect and the grounds are simply lovely. My memories of lingering underneath the lemon trees by the pool will continue to linger in my mind for a long time to come and I hope to revisit as soon as possible.

Our room was nice and quiet.

The only downside to this hotel was that the wifi in the common area was weak and slow.

Hotel staff was helpful and pleasant.

We spent 5 nights at this hotel. We started our trip with 5 nights in Rome, followed by 2 nights in Positano , and the last 5 in Sorrento. The location of the hotel was perfect for us, as we wanted to be close to the action in Piazza Tasso. With that said, the hotel is truly an oasis in this very lively location. Returning from touring each night, we headed straight for the pool, in a lemon grove , surrounded by lush greenery. Our 'comfort' room was the largest we've stayed in throughout Europe, and the prices were quite reasonable. But the heart of this hotel is the staff. Luigi and Laura at the front desk and Michelle, the Breakfast hostess were geniunely the nicest and most helpful hotel employees we've ever come accross. Can't wait for a return visit.

If you are traveling to Sorrento - pick this hotel. What a charming place and it's located in the heart of everything. Very short walk from the train station (don't get ripped off by the cabs). Wonderful tiled floors, large bathrooms and nice toiletries. We had a two room suite set up just off the pool so we had free wifi access the entire time (very nice considering all other hotels on our trip charged heavily for access). Loved the lemon trees near the pool, great chairs and towel service and poolside bar. Relaxing, quiet and convenient. It was a highlight of our trip to Italy. Breakfast was ample and fresh with a wonderful pastry selection. Staff was very helpful, efficient and all spoke very good English.

We recently spent 9 days at the Antiche Mura in Sorrento and loved it. The main reason...THE STAFF. We looked forward to Mario's smiling face each day at the pool, Tony at the Lobby/pool bar, Michelle at the breakfast diningroom, and last but certainly not least....Luigi at the front desk. The recommendations for restaurants and sight-seeing and just general conversation, we valued. We really felt like family and were sorry to leave. The hotel itself is very nice, and the beautiful pool surrounded by lemon and orange trees, is a welcomed sight after a day out and about Sorrento. The hotel does not have a view of the sea but is in a great location, close to everything. The only feedback I have for the hotel is that they should replace the mattresses on the beds. We found them uncomfortable. It truly is the people you have working at the hotel that make it. Treasure them!!

This is a great place to stay in Sorrento. Great location, nice space, and wonderful staff!
The pool is surrounded by lemon trees and has an oasis like feel to it. The rooms are spacious, very clean and quiet. The breakfeast (which is included) is so delicious! A wide variety of items to choose from! The staff at this hotel are so nice, and very helpful!
I would absolutely stay here again!

Something to consider: If you hire a driver from the hotel to take you up and down the Amalfi coast, it is best to hammer out the details before you leave. Set a time of when you want to be back at the hotel, and agree to pay only that price. The drivers are paid by the hour.

Sorrento was not as exciting as I'd hoped. It's all tourist, all the time and if I had to do it over again, I'd stay closer to the things we visited (Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum, Amalfi, etc.) But those places are all spread out around you and it is very central, and a very sweet, friendly little town. But getting around the Amalfi coast is quite difficult.
What really made Sorrento worth it, however, was this hotel. The staff are just wonderful, the breakfasts are terrific, the garden and pool are tempting. We lucked out on a room on the back terrace; I think it had to be the best room in the hotel. The hotel is blissfully quiet because it's on the edge of a ravine, but also right smack in the center of town with access to everything. No free wifi in the rooms however. Beds could be more comfortable. Nice bathrooms. Great public spaces.
