The Antiche Mura was definitely the nicest hotel we stayed at while in Italy. Very helpful staff, nice decor and the most gorgeous breakfast buffet. My husband really appreciated the eggs and bacon and I loved the fresh fruit. Ask which restaurants they recommend- we got a free ride to a wonderful restaurant with good food and relatively cheap prices. Stay here if you plan on visiting Sorrento.
Side note- if you like the lacquered wood products in the store near the hotel, shop around before buying! There are many other smaller shops that sell similar products at lower prices.

We stayed here in July 2010 with my husband and young family (aged 2 and 3) I loved the place from the moment we arrived, yes the staff were helpful, the rooms spacious and clean and the pool and gardens were amazing. A fantastic location and very quite. It was a pleasure being there. I will only stay in the Antiche Mura Hotel from now on.

My wife and I spent a portion of our honeymoon in Sorrento with two nights at the Antiche Mura. First and foremost, the location is hard to beat... Within steps of the town square and 10 minute (max) walk to the train station. You can't beat the location.

Also, the staff was great... Provided assistance when needed promptly and offered informative advice.

That being said, we found the rooms to be average... Even by European standards relative to the rating. I liken this closer to a 3 Star property rather than a 4. I would recommend the hotel though without reservation based on location and service.

This is a very good standard of hotel, though I'm not sure it deserves four stars. I think probably a high quality three star would be more appropriate. Our room (307) was quite small (even the bed seemed to be shorter than average!), but well decorated and clean. Floors were beautifully tiled, but of course, tiled floors do little to conceal noise from above, so if you have a guest walking around in stilettos above you, be prepared. Our room had a specially commissioned, inlaid wood wall unit, which though capitalised on space, was quite a frustrating design. This was because it had a sliding door covering one half of it, with the TV and drawers underneath in one side and storage in the other. It became quite a challenge manoevering between the two, especially as the doors kept sticking on the runners. I'd expect a four star hotel to have better equipped rooms: there were no tea or coffee-making facilities, no restaurant (other than for breakfasts), therefore no room service and only the basics in bathroom toiletries. These things are of little importance to us, but I would expect these to be part of the standard package in a four star hotel.
Great location in the centre of Sorrento, and very helpful and friendly staff. Enjoyed our stay there and would be happy to encourage others to try it.

After searching the Internet and making various enquiries we chose the Villa Antiche Mura for our Wedding venue and the Hotel for our stay in Sorrento. The hotel manager, Michele Savarese handled our arrangements and was completely professional and helpful. The wedding was a perfect day, we had a fantastic time. The venue, the arrangements, the food etc was all excellent and the staff were all friendly, helpful and friendly. Everybody had a great time. We would both recommend a Wedding in Sorrento and can recommend the Villa Antiche Mura as an excellent choice for your Wedding

I've been a right whinge bag on this webiste so its with absolute delight I can at last report on a little gem! The holiday could not have started better since we were fortunate to meet the owner on the plane, who was kind enough to offer us a lift to his hotel, smack bang in the middle of up town Sorrento. The reception area is large and palatial with friendly staff who were informative throughout our holiday. Our room although a little small (we had an Expedia deal and they can be the smaller rooms), was tastefully decorated and had a large bathroom, tv, fridge and the most amazingly bright tiled floors (its a Sorrento style apparently) and was kept clean and tidy despite our greatest efforts!

Breakfast however was amazing, served in a bright and clean room the choice was breathtaking, everything from full english to cakes, crossiants and a large selection of fruits and cheeses, simply excellent. The staff were attentative and friendly always with a smile, and a fresh strong coffee in hand, they really made it special! In summer it is served in the orangery garden which must be even better. The gardens just outside the breakfast room where beautifully kept with orange trees, an abundance of flowers, even a canon, the gorge with a disused paper mill at the bottom is best looked at post breakast especially if you have vertigo!

All in all this is one of the best hotels I've stopped at, mainly in part to the lovely and friendly staff. I'd definately go back but probably have a bigger room, in summer to pool must be a godsend.

The Antiche Mura presents a actually very good benchmark of service. Nothing is too much problem, the rooms are well nominated and overhauled two times a day, encompassing new towels! Sorrento is loud, costly and touristy, but is a large groundwork from which to discover the Amalifi seaboard area and this Hotel presents a greeting oasis of serene in the middle of the bustle.
