The location of a hotel is very important to us and this one couldn't be better, it is town centre, close to everything you are likely to need.
We had the one of the fourth floor rooms with a terrace overlooking the front of the building onto the square. It's a decent sized room with a flat screen tv; armchair; safe; dressing table etc and an ensuite bath/shower/bidet etc. The terrace is quite large with two sunbeds; two chairs and a table and as a bonus a sea view. It doesn't have tea/coffee making facilities which wasn't a problem for us as we brought our own with us.
There are two lounges, both comfortable and a breakfast room. Breakfast is buffet and has all you need to face the day. No other meals are served at the hotel, but with dozens of restaurants nearby it doesn't need to.
We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, speaking much better English than I speak Italian.
I should have mentioned that the hotel is very clean and well presented,

We were very disappointed with this hotel. We had booked and paid for our hotel 2 months before arriving to find that they had let our room to someone else. They didn't seem at all apologetic either. They just seemed to brush us aside and told us they'd arranged for us to stay in another hotel. They said they'd informed our travel agent and they couldn't get through to us on the phone - but we had no missed calls.
They took us to another hotel where we were given a room facing an open balcony over the busiest street in Sorrento, with dozens of motor bikes parked outside. There was a noisy cafe with loud music until past midnight each night. The plumbing was noisy all night too. Our door opened onto the balcony where other guests could sit and drink.
There was only one small window too high to see out and it echoed the noise.
Apparently they'd arranged our booking there the previous day!
It is not unusual for them overbooking and putting tourists there. Luckily the owners of the second hotels were able to move us the following evening to a quieter room at the back of the hotel - if not we would have moved as we could not sleep through that noise. We paid more for the hotel than previous hotels in Venice City and Florence, yet they were far more superior and honoured our pre-paid for booking.
When we went back to discuss our disappointment there were no staff anywhere at the Villa Di Sorrento - so it seems other reviews about this were correct. If they had been more apologetic it would have helped.
I advise that if you want to be sure of getting the hotel you booked when you arrive at your destination then think twice about booking with this one.

Room Tip: Definitely one at the back because it is on the main square with late outdoor seated cafes/bars - no...

As will be obvious from previous reviews, this smart little hotel is in the middle of Sorrento, a short walk from everything.

We stayed for a week on a Jules Verne tour and on arrival were immediately impressed with both the welcome from the staff and the quality of the accommodation. My wife and I were on the second floor at the rear of the building, so what we lacked in a view was compensated by a quiet night.

The rooms are fairly small, but certainly adequate for a couple, with the shower room shoehorned into the space of a walk-in wardrobe. There was still space for a wash basin and, should you require it, a bidet. Everything was scrupulously clean, with the towels changed daily and the bed linen three times during our stay. There are two lounges on the ground floor, but no bar.

The breakfast was more than adequate, including eggs, cheese, cereals, fruit, croissants, cakes, juices and a variety of hot drinks from a machine. A word of warning about the eggs - they are displayed raw, (more than one guest thought they were cold hard boiled, and got a considerable surprise when they peeled them), and you boil them yourself in a machine. I say 'boil', but even on the highest setting the water does not boil, so, bearing in mind that the eggs are at 'fridge temperature, allowances must be made when timing your eggs. A rough rule of thumb is eight minutes (sic) for a firm white and a soft yolk. There is no kitchen as such, so no restaurant for lunch or an evening meal. However, you are surrounded by more than enough places for a drink or a meal, so this is no hardship.[A note for vegetarians: there is a small vegan and vegetarian cafe about 400 metres away attached to a health food shop, which is open until 8pm.]

The staff are all very friendly and helpful and contributed to the enjoyment of our stay. Should we find ourselves in Sorrento again, we would not hesitate to stay at this charming little hotel again.

You cannot beat the location right on Piazza Tasso and only a 5 minute walk to the Circumvesuviana railroad as well as SITA bus connection. Sorrento itself is a pleasant town with numerous shops and sights as well as a port with fast ferry connections to Capri, Napoli and the Amalfi coast. The hotel has been in the same family since 1854 and has the feel of a small family oriented but well appointed hotel. Rooms were relatively spacious and very clean, as was the entire property. Bathrooms smaller to medium depending on the room, were very clean and functional. Rooms are available with a balcony onto the Piazza and have very quiet doors keeping out most of the noise should you retire early. Breakfast was simple but adequate and wifi was available at a charge. Would recommend and stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms out front have balconies, the rear rooms are pristinely silent with garden views of the ne...

This is a simple but very pleasant hotel with a three star rating. Although the room was small it was comfortable and sparklingly clean with a very well appointed bathroom. We had a pretty roof terrace (book room 42) and a view of the Bay of Naples. In spite of chilly, rainy weather, the room was cosy (ask the hotel to turn the heating on in your room) and there was a large bath and lots of hot water so we were able to warm up when we came in damp and cold. Breakfast was typical Italian but very generous and with a delicious cake or torta made freshly each day. For a simple, no frills place with very helpful staff this is the ideal place. It is also perfectly located within walking distance of many bars, cafes, shops etc.

Room Tip: It is worth paying a little extra for the rooms with terraces.

I was traveling with my wife and 2 children. We booked 2 rooms. Check in went smoothly. After going to our rooms, we went downstairs to try to get information on where to find food (we had been traveling all day) as it was an off time (5PM). The front desk was not staffed. This happened throughout our 4 night stay, almost every time we walked by the front desk, there was nobody there. It seems the entire staff has multiple jobs at the hotel or adjourning travel agency. Rooms were ok, although I could never figure out how to work the thermostat. Location was excellent, right in the center of Sorrento, although if I went back I would want a better view of the coastline, which is beautiful. Breakfast was not memorable and staffing of the breakfast room was inconsistent.

Dear Sir,

As both Owner and Manager of this Hotel I feel the need to make a few comments on what you have written!

With regards to eating out on the day of your arrival (the time was 5pm as you indicated) I did give you clear inducations as to what was available and also where you could eat. As far as your comment on the Front Desk not being staffed, this leaves me rather perplexed! The Hotel is Family Run and we take great pride in our service to our clients, the Family is always around, my Father, My Wife and myself and adjoining Travel Agency to which you refer serves also as the back office to the Hotel and from my desk I have a 100% view of Reception. I also feel that it is normal that in a Family Run property it is normal that we all have multiple jobs, it is better that way because it means that we can all deal with any issues that may arise and are all interchangable!
I am sorry to hear about the thermostat in your room but you could have asked and it would have been dealt with accordingly. Regarding the Buffet breakfast it is what it says "Buffet" and therefore ''Serve yourself ".

Regards......

I wandered into the Villa di Sorrento on Easter Sunday evening and was greeted like a long lost friend. I had no reservation, but was lucky to get the last room. My charming and spotless room on the 4th floor was perfect and had a great view of the hills. The hospitality of the owners and workers was unparalleled. I would have been happy to stay forever, but I was only there for 3 nights.
