My niece, her daughter, and I were fortunate to get into this property on short notice. The location is excellent ~ a short walk from the train station but away from the crowds & noise. Breakfast was lovely and staff very accommodating. All in all, a delightful experience!

La Meridiana is a very pleasant hotel, and we found it ideal for our needs. The room was very clean, and was cleaned daily, and we were lucky enough to have a room with a sea view, from which you could see part of Vesuvius and had a lovely aspect on the bay. The beds were comfortable although the pillows were a bit lumpy! Although there is no pool (not really required as there is so much sightseeing to be done in the area!) there is a nice roof terrace if you do want to relax in the sun for an afternoon. The staff were friendly and polite and the food was what you would expect from a three star hotel, mostly very enjoyable and you certainly never left dinner hungry after the generous portions! Be aware that if you visit outside the British school holidays there may be one or two high-spirited school parties staying at the hotel, but this didn't really bother us. Finally, the location of the hotel was perfect in my opinion; just 5 minutes walk from the central square of Sorrento and from the train/bus station and a supermarket, 15 minutes from the ferry port - close enough to everything to be very convenient but far enough off the busy main road to be fairly quiet (it doesn't matter where you go in Sorrento, there will always be *some* noise of scooters in the background!). It is also next to a lovely orange and lemon grove where you can taste and buy limoncello, and some of the rooms looked over this grove rather than the sea. All in all, we really couldn't find anything to complain about at this hotel and enjoyed our stay immensely.

First off, I must say the staff were very nice and helpful and it is in a lovely location. But that is where my good review ends. I personally did not like most of the food served, the same opinion was shared amongst my friends. The rooms were quite small and the bunk beds which were fitted had no ladders or safety features and I feel sorry for my friend who had to haul herself from the ground to the top and lie still for fear of falling off. Locks also didn't work in the bathrooms and I had to wedge the door shut. The pillows were hard and I was attempted to check if the had rocks in them. Lights also went out if you put anything on charge which was extremely annoying at times. One of the nights we dined we were horrified to discover flies in our salad. I personally nearly threw up after finding around 15 in my salad. The tablecloth was not cleaned and I did not like sitting at a stained orange tablecloth. I'm afraid I will never stay in this hotel again and will look for a different hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get a double room, anymore and you will have bunkbeds. Most balconies are nice.

Good morning.
We are really sorry to receive such a negative feedback.
Regarding the remark on the bunk beds, I would like to give you further information on your accomodation deal. You were in fact part of a student group, therefore your accomodation was arranged by a tour operator: it is an agreed policy to organize student multiple rooms by placing bunk beds in them, not the hotel's in general.
Regarding the episode of the fly in the salad, it was an unfortunate episode (due to avoiding using toxic agents on vegetables) only reported once: in order to apologize for the inconvenience, the whole group was offered a substitute side dish, which the tour leader refused. In addition, we change tablecloths once a day for all clients, and the tables assigned to each group (and only to that group) are the same ones for the whole stay.
We hope we have fully explained your negative remarks.
Best Regards

We stayed at La Merdiana in early August. The hotel is located one street back from the main street in Sorrento and therefore is in a quieter location. This suited us perfectly. Still only a short walk to [3 minutes] to the main street for shops and restaurants. Room was standard size - clean and comfortable. The extra small price you pay for the balcony off the hotel room is well worth it - beautiful views of the sunset over the mediterranean and lovely to sit in the early morning and feel the cool breeze off the water. This would have been even better with a cuppa however this facility is not available. Shower was interesting [quite small] but still worked okay. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice and staff were obliging. Reception was adequately helpful. Would stay here again.

Rooms very clean and cleaned daily to high standard. Bar and restaurant look far better in the photos online. Restaurant small and I did not like the fact you had to sit at mixed tables and had to stay in those seats for the entire week. Staff friendly and the food was excellent. The bar is in the corner near the reception, there are seats but you could just walk into the centre ( 5 minutes) and enjoy a table in the sun with a view. Had a fantastic time and I would recomend the hotel if you want a base near the town with clean comfortable rooms with friendly staff.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies above 4th floor provide great views of sea.

Location was convenient to downtown Sorrento with the shops and restaurants. The room was very clean and the staff most helpful. Would certainly stay here again when We return to Sorrento

Stayed at La Meridiana for ten nights in August, very hot 38 degrees and humid, when enquired about cost of air con was told it was ten euros per 24 hours and no reduction if I wanted it for a week or more, also it is turned off between 9am and 1pm. This is very expensive and I do not mind paying for it usually as it is necessary if you are not used to it, as a comparison I was in Rhodes June this year and paid 100 euros for 14 days.

Apart from that, the room was a good size and very clean, towels changed without asking every day and bedding 3 times in my ten day stay, after talking to other guests I was glad I had paid a little extra for a balcony, which was a great size and great view. If you like your own tea and coffee take a travel kettle as none supplied as well as no fridge.
Didn't use the sun terrace as was too hot, however the sister hotel was the Flora on the main street and was advised that to use the pool and sun bed was ten euros a day.

Very good breakfast of usual european fare and evening meal choice fair but heavy. Ate in 5 out of ten nights only as like to try different places and there is so much choice in Sorrento.

About a 10 min walk from Tasso sq and right past the bus station, go through the lemon grove and this puts you halfway to San Aneglo

Small wine bar on main drag is great for people watching and lovely wine too, tried the wine evening via First Choice and was not disappointed, local girl knew her stuff but was not stuck up about it as some wine buffs can be, lovely pleasant evening.
Good walk down to Harbour, nice choice of bars for lunch but dead at night.
bus back up 1 euro, 5 min taxi drive15 euro!

If you like your steaks try the Buffalo bar, fantastic! and reasonably priced, and not a chip in sight! plenty of lovely small cafes in the little alleys to eat in and all price ranges.
The Terraza bar 15 min walk from hotel Great! fab views and good food! overlooking the whole bay!
Amalfi drive is well worth the effort and the 1 hour boat trip for a tenner worth every penny, The church was breathtaking, be aware ladies, you need to cover your head and shoulders if you are wearing vest, sundress etc.

Capri lovely as always, Pompei needs more than one day to explore and is well worth 11 euro, but Herculanium is like the poor cousin in comparison and should not be priced the same, take the train as only 4 euro return and the trip via rep vastly over priced.

I would stay at the Meridiana again as it is a great base for Sorrento, but only on a B and B basis.
