We stayed here for a week in May and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is spotlessly clean and all the staff are really helpful. Breakfast was typical continental and croissants etc were very fresh. Piping hot coffee was served every morning within minutes of sitting down. Service in the restaurant was excellent and Antonio and his team were great. Very freindly but efficient and professional at the same time. The local wine was only 10 euros in the restaurant and was really nice. The terrace has a wonderful view and when we were there, we were always able to get a sun lounger but a few more would be needed at busier times. We will definitely stay here again. It was great value for money and a highly recommended budget hotel. Location was superb - 10 minutes leisurely walk to the square. An elderly couple we met from Norfolk have come to the hotel every year for 16 years!

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony as not all rooms have them. Not too much of an issue though due to the large terra...

Just back from 3 days in wonderful sorrento.paid £249 for half board.was disapointed no balcony but room clean and tidy.staff were helpful and food was fine, four choices for dinner and you pick in the morning.the first night thevrestaurant manager was off and staff seemed in a pickle with your choices on a bit of paper.wine was reasonable 6 euros a half bottle ,a nice local vino.hotel well situated ,5 min to station and a lovely walk thru the orchard to town.no complaints from us about the hotel value for money.we used the terrace and I would say more loungers are needed.you will be lucky to find a pint under 4 euros in town ,Capri wonderful go by jet only 25 min 16euro each way and Pompeii is only 2.10 euro by train and 11 euro to get in.if you visit and or on a budget and need a hotel in town then you will not be disappointed

Just returned from La Meridiana in Sorrento which we booked through Thomsons after reading somewhat mixed reviews on TripAdvisor. We were extremely pleased with the hotel. It was small, family-run with very helpful staff, very clean, and in a quiet location handy for the town, train and ferries, and next to a lovely lemon/orange grove which you walk through to get to the main town. We arrived at 10pm, and they had a welcoming salad ready for us which we washed down with a bottle of their house red priced at €12. The food was 'ok'. Breakfast was the usual continental type with croissants, cheese, yoghurt, cereal, hard boiled egg etc. The orange juice was awful (especially with the hotel being situated next to an orange grove!). The evening meal was soup, two main courses (usually pasta or salad) , plus sweet. There was a choice of main courses and sweets which you made at breakfast time. I always left the restaurant full.
We booked a room with a balcony through Thomsons and emailed in advance to request a sea view. We had a beautiful view of the Bay and the lights of Naples (the best view of Naples is from this distance - don't go there! It's a dump - although The National Archaeological Museum has all the good stuff they've taken from Pompeii/Herculaneum. We took the ferry from Sorrento at €11 return (I think) and a €16 taxi from the port) . The best balcony views are from the third floor upwards. The view from the sundeck is fabulous.
I noticed that the hotel charges €10 a day for air conditioning during the summer months. I don't know if that that cost would be included in the Thomson price or an added extra once you got there. There was also a local tourist tax of €1 each per day up to a maximum of 7 days - I reckon our local authority ought to try that.
I would highly recommend this Hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front and side - third floor upwards - have a good view of The Bay and the lemon grove...

Recently stayed at La Meridiana for 7 days. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the reception staff were really helpful. The food was plentiful (4 courses), not always to my taste but that's just a personal thing. It's well situated in a quiet area, just a short walk from the centre of Sorrento. A nice route to take is through the orange/lemon grove across the road from the hotel. A good place to visit is the Foreigners' Club just off the main square. Here you can sit and sip a drink or coffee, or have a very reasonably priced meal. The setting is gorgeous with views out to sea and they're open day and night. Another must do is a walk through the 'drains'. These all little narrow streets lined with stalls selling everything from scarves and jewellery to hand made sandals and lemons. All in all a beautiful place to visit and a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: We chose the 5th floor. Better views and of course no noise from above. Although our room was situ...

Location: Excellent - walking distance to train/bus station, centre and harbour.
Reception: staff very helpful...even retuned the TV so that we could watch the FA Cup Final!
Room: basic, old but exceptionally clean. Had a balcony overlooking orchard and sea.
Food: basic continental breakfast-cordial fruit juice with an orange+lemon orchard across the street?! Evening meal-choice of 4 courses to be made at breakfast on that morning. We questioned the abundance of tinned vegetables+fruit, frozen fish and instant mashed potatoes! However, we never left feeling hungry. No menu choice on the 'Gala Evening'-a man singing and playing a keyboard.Be prepared to share your table.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the stairwell and lift....exceptionally noisy early in the morning with coa...

We always choose small hotels so, unlike a few other reviewers here, we know what to expect and we were not disappointed.
This hotel's greatest asset is its location in a quiet road with the main part of town, the excursion bus station and shops just a short stroll away, either through the neighbouring lemon and orange grove or via two alternative road routes.
Check out 'Traceys' store immediately opposite the lemon grove for souvenirs and last minute needs at well below the prices charged in the town centre ... 'The Drains' demand to be explored ...
On this seven day bargain break we arrived around 10pm and were immediately offered a meal as the dining room had been kept open for us. Reception staff were superb as were the hard working waiters and waitress who made each meal time an enjoyable experience.
Our 1700 hrs departure at the end was also facilitated by having free use of a basement room to store our luggage while we took a final stroll around Sorrento.
The room was exactly what we expected and met our needs. Although computer literate we see no need for wi-fi or anything else '-fi' on vacation! There are plenty of bars in town if you want them, but we didn't.
The Thomson rep aka resort adviser Lindsay provided a great welcome and her guided tour around Sorrento is an absolute must-do. The excursions [which we pre-booked in UK] were excellent value with knowledgeable guides and excellent drivers ... Amalfi Drive - Vesuvius and Pompeii - and Capri. The red open-top bus is equally great but it is best to take the 0930 option as crowds can gather later in the day.
A special word of praise to Thomson staff for their diligence at both airports, the hotel, the transfers and everything inbetween. All professional, friendly and plenty of them on hand as little or as much as needed.
To end on the hotel note ... spotlessly clean, great plumbing that works, generous meals with plenty of variety, comfortable room and courteous staff. Absolutely 10 out of 10!
Thanks to all concerned on making our trip so enjoyable.

Room Tip: In a place like Sorrento you need to be out and about so a balcony seems pretty pointless [our room...
