Just returned from four nights at the Ascot. Our room, 334, did have a good sized bathroom, with a bath and shower. Agree with other comments re the noise. Our room was at the back but we still heard traffic noise from the busy main road. The corridor floors and bedroom floors are not carpeted so there is also noise from other guests and their suitcases during the night. Waiters and reception staff were really helpful and pleasant, apart from at the time of checking out. We were presented with a bill for 26 euros, which listed drinks we had not had! The man on reception was then very unhelpful and the manager was sent for, as he obviously did not believe us. We then paid what we owed, with no apology from him. Beware of this happening, as two other guests were also overcharged during their stay. Two roof top terraces with sunbeds which is good place to relax. Overall, its a 3 star hotel which is ideally situated in Sorrento. The food was basic but adequate for a short break.

Room Tip: Ask for a back bedroom, definitely not a front one!

Location - The Hotel Ascot, is a nice easy stroll to the main square (within ten minutes...maybe less) passing many lovely shops and lanes on the way. The beautiful cobbled lanes are also full of more shops and restaurants.

Rooms - We were ground floor in the garden area. It was clean (fresh towels daily), basic enough with a tiny fridge. Which goes off once you remove the swipe card for the electrics on the way out. Good blackout metal twist shutters. Spare blankets, which we needed.

Garden Area - There is just no escaping the constant level of traffic noise. Even by the pool. I think that most of Sorrento town has this problem. Snacks can be bought from 12pm.

Breakfast - Typical continental style. Only one type of cold meat & cheese. Yoguart, cereal, rolls, toast, tea, coffee, fruit & two types of pasteries. Plenty to keep you going till lunch time.

Overall - Nice staff.....Maria at the bar is thrilled to help you with your Italian, even if you only have a few words.

Well located, safe & clean.

Room Tip: All rooms get traffic noise I think, but the double glazed door was good enough sound proofing for u...

Stayed here with my daughter for a weekend in May. The positives: centrally located, excellent and attentive staff- nothing was too much trouble. Lovely pool area with plenty of sunbeds, also a roof top terrace for sun bathing and a garden area with both covered and open seating arrangements and a very fairly priced bar. The room (318), although some may consider dated, was spotlessly clean and included a powerful shower but no bath, hair dryer, fridge, air conditioning/heating and a small balcony. The negatives: as this hotel is fairly central the road outside can be noisy but we had no trouble sleeping thanks to the heavy room shutters. We didn't eat at the hotel in the evening as we preferred to try different restaurants in Sorrento so I cannot comment on the meals provided however I do feel that the continental breakfast was slightly below average with limited choice. In saying that I would have no hesitation in staying at the Ascot again and if future guests bear in mind this is a 3* central hotel and in my opinion provides excellent value for money with staff that really deserve a pat on the back for their friendly service.

Room Tip: Request rooms at the back of the hotel on a higher floor for less noise and the afternoon sun. Rooms...

We recently stayed at this Hotel in April 2012 for 2 nights as part of a tour group, and while it is in a central location, the noise of constant traffic and late night revellers walking the streets is a real turn off. The rooms are dated and small, with a tiny european bathroom. To shower, you have to step up into a steep bath and the hot and cold taps are in an awkward position , with a high risk of burning yourself turning the water on.we were located to the side of the Hotel , with views over other highrise flats which was ok but it was definetely the street noise when our window was open which was the negative factor. No free wifi, and overpriced paid access only available in the front reception room meant people sitting around skyping home trying to hear. The Breakfast was very basic, cheap orange concentrate pretending to be juice, no fresh bread and over attentive staff making sure that we didnt take too much. All in all an average Hotel in a good location.

Wonderfully located hotel to visit Sorrento and all around. Continental breakfast offered and staff friendly and helpful, all except the night manager who doesn't seem to know anything but walking around looking important. During the day, absolutely good service from tour operator, front desk and cleaning staff. Woudl definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back. They all have a sunny balcony in the afternoon and less traffic noise.

I have just returned from my stay at The Hotel Ascot in Sorrento. First impressions were very good, a nice clean reception and stunning surroundings/views. We were given our room key and were asked to check the rooms over for any problems. We found moldy food in one of the drawers, and the shutters were quite stiff to open, but overall things seemed ok. The bathroom was clean and more than adequate for what we needed. We were in a room of 4 with two single beds, and a couple of little camp beds. The first night, one of the slats broke on a camp bed but we managed to repair it as it was relatively straight forward.

The breakfast at the hotel was quite a disappointment. There wasn't much of a selection. There was a hot drinks machine, juice machine, a useless toaster, some croissants and some cereal. The dining room was set out quite nicely and was welcoming, so it wasn't all bad.

We didn't spend that much time in the hotel as we were always out and about travelling. One afternoon we sat by the pool which was quite nice. The pool was big enough and there were many sunbeds which were a little temperamental.

One evening we ate at the hotel. The pasta was a little overcooked in my opinion, but it depends on what you like, and it was a little salty for my taste. There were 2 big bottles of water provided on our table when we arrived.

Overall we had a comfortable stay at The Hotel Ascot, minus the few imperfections. I feel that we may possibly stay here again, primarily because of its location.
