We booked this hotel for our honeymoon, and it was fantastic. It is perfectly located for exploring the area. The staff were the best we ever encountered in Italy, everything was efficient and organised. It is worth emailing in to get a nice room, as some do overlook the railway. Our was very quiet, but you can hear the trains during dinner. Food was fantastic, and drinks were great priced.
I would say this is definatly more of a couples resort, there were not many kids around.
The only thing I can say negative, is don't expect a view - it is a city hotel on a main road. But we knew that when we booked. I would definatly go back to this hotel.

My wife and I enjoyed 3 wonderful nights in this energy efficient and spotlessly clean hotel. It is very close to the main square in Sorrento and conveniently located right around the corner from the public bus stop; perfect for anyone wanting to tour the Amalfie coast. I highly recommend the hotel restaurant. The wait staff are friendly and courteous. Chito, if you are reading this, you are an excellent waiter. The food is delicious and the desserts are out of this world. The breakfast buffet is terrific with lots of options. I would stay here again in a heart beat and I am certain my wife feels the same.

Room Tip: You must put your room card in the slot next to the door to turn your lights and air conditioning on...

Spent three nights here with group of friends. Well-located, just a couple of blocks from city centre attractions and water. Pleasant rooms, very helpful staff, good food for breakfast and dinner. Good 4-star accommodation.

Having visited Sorrento over 15 times this was our first stay at the Michaelangelo hotel and most definately will not be our last. The location is brilliant being on the Corsa Italia the main road and a short walk to any where. Our visit this year was to get married at the Cloisters and we wanted the hotel to reflect this special occassion, we were NOT disappointed.
We arrived late to a plentiful cold platter in our room, the evening reception staff were friendly, efficient and informative, the porter was delightful and helpful throughout our stay.
In our room was a welcome posy of flowers, the room was immaculately clean, roomy and with excellent airconditioning. The room we had been allocated had a shower (we had not specified that we would prefer a bath) but a brief chat with Michael (the manager) soon resolved this without any problems . Our room overlooked the train station and to be honest it wasnt a problem, the trains were not noisy ( they are electric) and if you book a hotel in a central location you accept that there will be some ambiant noise.
The food was delicious, I am a very fussy eater but each day there was always something I could eat and enjoy, my partner was extremely happy because of the large choice on the menu. Thw waiters and maitre' ds were brilliant, always polite welcoming sometimes juggling guests speaking 4 different languages with humour and courtesy. We felt that each meal was a celebration and the waiting staff made it so. I would like to say a big thank you to the chefs and back ground kitchen staff who provided the meals but remained unseen, they are unsung heros.
The ladies and gentlemen that cleaned our bedroom were excellent, the rooms were spotlessly clean and they always went the extra mile for you, they maintained high standards through out our stay. Guiseppe the bar man was lovely, he had a kind word for every one, and noticed the small things that make you feel special.
All in all we had a wonderful wedding day enhanced by the lovely treatment we recieved from all the staff at the Michaelangelo Hotel, we will be returning for our anniversary next year. We have abslutely no hesitation in recommending tha Hotel Michaelangelo.

We had a lovely time and when we return as we will, we wlll stay at the Michelangelo again.

My friend and I visited Italy for the first time - and loved it. Sorrento is an experience not to be missed, bustling, busy, full of great things to see and do. Our hotel, the Michelangelo, was near the centre on the Corsa Italia, set back off the road it appears small, but is deceptively accommodating. We had single rooms, which are quite compact but have everything you need. There is a shower (no bath),and the usual bathroom stuff, single bed, wardrobe, dressing table and mini bar. The pool was a good enough size, but, and this is my only complaint, it was absolutely freezing - perhaps if it could be given time to warm up by switching off the constant cold water flowing in? However, the sun lounge on the top floor is large but wasn't used much when we were there - possibly because it was the hottest week of the year, and absolutely scorching.
The staff are excellent, from the room maids who do a great job, to the waiting staff who remember your preferences and serve you efficiently and with humour,
I enjoyed the food - there are several selections on the menu, and a different choice every night. Breakfast is a choice of cold cuts, fruit, yoghurt, cereals etc., although a cooked breakfast can be ordered. Just outside the hotel is an arbour, covered over with plants, whcih provides a cool(ish), respite from the heat and is a great place just to sit and people watch for a while.
Although the hotel backed onto the railway line the quality of the sound-proofing meant that there was virtually no noise problems. If you wanted the air-conditioning to do its' job, it was best to leave the windows closed. As single rooms have no balcony I don't know how the noise affected the quality of the larger rooms, but I feel a bit of noise is worth the stay.
I would certainly reccommend this hotel and am in the process of booking there next year - perhaps later in the year when it is a bit cooler, the southern Italian sun is fierce, especially for a blonde, northern Scot. Still, I wouldn't have missed the experience for the world. Well done, Michelangelo!
