I have just spent 3 nights in this hotel and was worried about how it would be after reading some reviews on here. However the hotel was lovely, clean, well maintained, pretty and well decorated. It is spacious and my room (413) was lovely with a big bathroom and plenty of space. The bed was comfy and not hard. It was at the back overlooking the train line, but as another reviewer has said, this is a very small local line, the trains go once every half an hour but not during the night, and they are going very slowly and are not loud, so this is really not an issue. The wifi is not free in the rooms, but it did only cost 10 Euros for three nights unlimited access. The reception staff were very helpful and polite. However the best thing about this hotel is how very close it is to the train station (approx 90 seconds walk) where the trains go to Pompeii, Herculaneum and into Naples, and there is a very efficient bus service from the train station direct to Naples Airport. There is also a small branch of the local tourist information office at the station. It is only a three minute walk from the centre of town and five minutes from the view over the port and the bay.
I agree with other reviewers that the breakfast was very poor - tinned fruit salad! With a poor choice of cereals and yoghurts, but lots of sweet buns and pastries if that is your thing. Also tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be nice. Finally please note that the lift on every floor emerged onto a mezzanine so that you always had to go down or up three stairs to get to your room - no good for wheelchair users or someone who could not manage stairs,

Room Tip: Don't worry if you get a room at the back - the train noise is minimal.

Yes it was quirky in a way, unique with antiques and a real interesting atmosphere. I enjoyed it actually, it was handy walking from the hotel into town and the staff seemed really nice too. The room we had unfortunately looked down onto the railway but that was okay, it was a balcony, and our own too!! That bit was great. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the bathrooms were spacious and the bed was really nice. I liked its difference, you just knew you were in Italy and that was a great feeling, something a lot of newer hotels miss the mark on. Breakfast disappointed me a little as we were part of a group and "banned" from several tables. They could have just put little notes on the tables that we were supposed to be on than react with shock horror and then upturn the chairs so we couldn't sit there. That was the only negative and the reason I deducted a star.

Room Tip: Probably to get a room overlooking the front of the hotel than the back railway yard would be best.

The rooms are clean but shower is no good at all, so small, you have difficulties washing your hair with two hands. The restaurant leaves a bit to be desired, the dinner was horrible and the staff seemed extremely rushed and abrupt. We had breakfast there as I only eat cereal and coffee but the second night we had pizza next door which was great.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights half board. The reception staff are extremely friendly and efficient. It is well positioned in the center of the town and is pleasant and clean with good sized rooms. We had one with a balcony which was very nice.

Big BUT. The food in the restaurant was quite poor. Breakfast was equally poor. My husband asked for an omelette which was delicious but had to pay extra for. If they can provide hard boiled eggs which are cold on the buffet table, why can;t they serve an omelette without charging?

On the last night we didn't even stay in the hotel for dinner. We found a lovely local restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the railway line

It is difficult reviewing a hotel when travelling with a small group as opposed to travelling as a couple, but my concerns were aroused as our group checked in whilst a much larger group waited to do likewise. Any hotel that has only one clerk on the desk at a time like this, has a serious management problem. Our room was ok, minimal in respect of amenities for example, the tiniest and cheapest bar of soap, the tiniest TV set I have ever seen, but not tiny in terms of guest instructions: do not put the kettle (there was not one) on the furniture; do not put your own food or drink the in room fridge etc etc - a welcome of some sort would have been nice. And as for our dinner and breakfast, both most disappointing, served by condescending staff, whose only interest was to get us out of the dining room (not a restaurant) by any stretch of the imagination. This hotel needs to train it's staff to love their guests, not just treat them like numbers!

Room Tip: Go to another hotel

We stayed here during our visit to the Amalfi the region. The hotel has a great location, staff is very hospitable and the food is okay. The Wi-Fi service at the lobby is not the best (very slow). Rooms are small but okay, nothing fancy but very clean. Would recommend it if like us you plan to be on the go most of the time.

Let's start with the positives, the hotel is in a pretty good location near the train station and not far from the main square and the rooms were clean. Now the negatives, my room was small and old fashioned overlooking the train line. The trains though weren't overly loud. The area assigned for a suitcase was too small for mine. My room safe was broken. There was a large crack in my bathroom mirror. The toiletries in the bathroom were poor with only flimsy soap and shampoo provided. You have to pay for wi-fi in the rooms and the free wi-fi in reception is patchy. The breakfast offerings were poor. Who serves tin fruit in this region? Dinner which was included in my package was not of great quality either. Finally I found some of the staff quite rude and unhelpful. Overall I was pretty disappointed.
This is not a 4 star hotel so don't be fooled. Would I stay here again? No!
