Hard to find...even with a GPS as the property is off-road through an olive grove & not well signposted BUT once you are there, the views are fantastic, the facilities (pool, terraces etc) very good.
The location - out of town/above Sorrento - is an easy 20minute walk DOWN to town - but a hard 45+minutes back up! Breakfast is adequate/standard & they try and have you commit to dinner on site also in the morning which I found a little strange. We only had one dinner (our first night) and it was ok, but not tempted to do more.
The reception staff were helpful & had plenty of tourist information, ferry timetables etc on hand.
The rooms are all different....we had two, one on the ground floor with a little terrace & the most 'interesting' layout & tiles in the bathroom. The other room was on the top foor with a round window & a small - more updated bathroom. The lift is ancient....only use for luggage. Stairs are faster. The pool was very welcome & the sunsets from there were beautiful. Overall an experience we all enjoyed.

Room Tip: Ask to see available rooms in category you book as they are all different.

We chose Hotel la Badia as our base on a Riviera Travel week long tour of the area. We knew we would have a packed itinerary which would leave us little time in the hotel. We paid for, and were given, a room with a magnificent view across the Bay of Naples, flanked by the local hills and opposite Vesuvius. It was everchanging and a delight to wake up to in the morning and to look at, with illuminated cruise ships nearby, in the evening. The room was spotless and well looked after every day. It was a bit smaller than we are used to (many of them were monks' cells from when it was an abbey) but it did not detract from the key issues of sleeping and showering (etc) in the good sized bathroom (without a bath, which we seldom use even at home). The staff were all friendly, helpful and entertaining, especially Antonio, the maitre d', and his restaurant staff. The food was generally good and plentiful and the staff were happy to offer alternatives on the occasion when some of the group did not enjoy their choice. Vegetarian and wheat/gluten free options were available at every meal without fuss. Short and acceptable wine list and a bar for post-prandial drinks (only limoncello for us, but it was so good!), as well as tea and coffee when needed during the day. I would happily return to la Badia and recommend it.

Room Tip: Sea view is worth paying for

Stayed at the La Badia, Lovely cosy hotel, the most marvelous view from our terrace across
Naples bay To the Vasuvius volcano, just breath tacking. good position for reaching Sorrentto by way of zig zag path.but far enough from the madding crowd.
I would recommend the La Badia everytime.

Room Tip: Choose room No 7 its on the ground floor, but in an elavated position with the added sun terrace.

Went with Riviera Travel the second week in October when the weather was still warm. After being welcomed by a thunderstorm by the time we arrived at La Badia the weather had changed. We had a warm welcome and shown into our room, which was very pretty but very compact (no room for our two cases!!) but a stunning view across the bay. We asked if we could upgrade, and were told we could do so 2 days later when larger rooms would be free, and we could choose which we wanted. Well, after being shown the suite, there was no contest! and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Being on the corner of the hotel we had views all over the bay and over to Vesuvius and beyond. We didn't go on all the tours provided as we needed to relax after a very busy few months, so enjoyed the hotel and Sorrento itself more than our fellow travellers. It was good to spend time around the pool, especially after walking back from Sorrento which took about twenty minutes from the centre. The meals were very acceptable, and Antonio and staff made them very enjoyable! A very friendly atmosphere, and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts (especially when the loo seat came off, it was replaced within the hour!) So with the small difference in the price we would certainly recommend room 10bis, and we hope we will return again sometime. From Eira Walter

Room Tip: As stated, our first room, room 20 was very cosy, this was on the second floor but 10bis was excellent on the first floor.

Recently returned from a week's stay at La Badia-again with Riviera Travel. We had paid extra for a sea view , but, I did email the hotel about a week before to request a large room, if possible. We were not disappointed-Room 33-down a small flight of steps, but, there is a lift albeit quite slow !
Overall, La Badia is a sound, safe choice. Good location with stunning views-the walk into Sorrento is fine and just at the base of the hill is a small supermarket which is popular with the locals. Okay, it's a steep walk back uphill , but, there are plenty of "breathing " stops and wonderful views to drink in !
Our room was fine-plenty of wardrobe space, firm bed and large bathroom with bidet-no bath, just a smallish shower with nasty plastic curtain which wanted to cling to your body ! The towels closely resembled sheets but did the job-fresh every day along with soaps and shampoo-no shower caps, writing paper, sewing kits or the like. There is a safe in the wardrobe.
Considering there is such a large Brit clientele I really think the hotel could provide more English speaking TV channels or DVD facilities-just imagine watching " Spartacus " or " Gladiator" with Vesuvius in the backdrop ! Also, take your travel kettle if you enjoy a morning cuppa ! Also some hotel & tourist information in the room would have been appreciated.
The food is fine-breakfast consists of ham, cheese, salami, hard boiled eggs, fruits, Atcereals, breads, cakes, tea , coffee. At breakfast , you have to choose your evening meal which is always 3 courses . Soup or possibly pasta to start then a choice of 3 mains-always vegetarian option and often fish which was really nice. Desserts were somewhat disappointing-a tasteless sponge or fruit-go for the fruit option ! Service is brisk-bottled water is 2 Euros and house wines start about 11 Euros. You run up a tab and pay before departing-cards are accepted.
Staff are very helpful and friendly-there is a computer behind reception I could access to find out the World Cup Rugby results.
All in all ok-now if you want to know about Riviera travel that's another story !!!

Room Tip: Email ahead if you have any special requests-Room 33 is fine !
