Oh dear, oh dear.......... this hotel could be an absolute gem. Views fantastic, walk into town (10 mins), pool and terrace very good. Bedrooms were fine although our shower fitting was broken and others mentioned broken shower fittings and air con not working. Food - awful. We booked bed and breakfast but due to weather etc we had to have two meals at the hotel. I don't know who did the cooking but it was most definitely not a qualified cook/chef. The breakfast lacked any inspiration. How difficult is it to provide a range of fruit, some yoghourts and some decent bread. In the afternoon we asked if they had some cake to have with tea. The waiter came out with a single croissant from the morning breakfast, which we shared!!

The waiters managed to do the service of approximately 50 people in three quarters of an hour. We were charged 44 euros for a three course meal. Other guests on the Riviera Travel group were also very disappointed and a number went out into the town for a couple of meals - not acceptable when you have paid in advance. Even the tour guide did not eat the meal that was put in front of her. If anyone says the food is good then I shudder to think what they eat when at home.

As for Sorrento........... very disappointed in the rubbish and grafitti on the ride from Naples to Sorrento. Old town much cleaner. Sorrento restaurants also a disappointment as we tried four different ones and they all had identical menus. There was obviously a menu for the tourists and one for the locals.

Now back to the hotel. As already stated, this could be a gem of a hotel if they just paid a little bit more attention to the items that needed repairing and they got someone who could cook a decent meal.

Staff helpful.

Come on La Badia - get a grip - your hotel could be fantastic.

We have been to other parts of Italy and have not been disappointed. Sorrento - no won't go again.

Family with teenager. We so enjoyed our 4 day stay @ Hotel La Badia. A clean, well maintained hotel with a ton of character. We loved coming back from a day of sightseeing & jumping into the pool! The view from our room was spectacular, over-looking the Bay of Naples. There was lots to eat @ Breakfast-fruit, cheese, meat, cereal, bread, pastry. We would recommend eating dinner there as well. Home cooked Italian food that is reasonably priced. We enjoyed the short 10 minute walk into town - it is uphill on the way back, but, it's not a difficult walk, so don't be put off(gelato does help for the walk back!!) The staff was very friendly & helpful. If we go back to Sorrento, La Badia is where we'll stay!

The views, the hotel and the surrounding gardens were breath taking. Overall we had a wonderful holiday in Sorrento but we ate out just about every evening as the food at the hotel was well below average. The breakfasts and the evening meals were unimaginative and uninspiring. We thought we were going to a country well renowned for its wonderful food and thought as 'real Italians' were running the hotel, we were in for a real treat!! Not likely......what a shame as they have a truly unforgettable location for their hotel but they do not seem to take a pride in what they serve to their guests. They must think their 'British' guests do not know the difference between good and bad food. That is not at all true and if the staff of La Badia read the reviews, they would see how badly they are rated for their food and make some improvements and not use tinned tomato's etc.

Husband & I stayed here with friends. Location of hotel was fantastic, beautiful views, lovely room , friendly staff.
Ground floor room was a very good size, clean & linen changed regularly.
Lovely, clean good sized bathroom, towels are 'linen type' but very good.
Terrace restaurant area allowed beautiful views whilst eating. Breakfast had plenty of choice.
The hotel was an interesting building ( old monastary) & kept beautifully with lovely plants & grounds. So nice to be out of the main town, quiet & relaxing with a nice pool. Walk down to Sorrento town easily managed. Overall a beautiful place to stay.

We have just come home after a wonderful stay at La Badia. Like many others we booked our 'tour' through Riveria Travel and were looked after by their agent Matt. Matt certainly lived up to the good reviews - he is a real STAR, very caring, informative and funny. The tour was busy and interesting! The hotel is a real gem, a small invidividual hotel - not 'off the shelf' like so many others nowdays. Our room was clean, well furnished and comfortable - cleaned everyday. The hotels location is second to none, overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius and set amongst the Olive trees (the hotel make their own olive oil). The staff are friendly and helpful. Many reviews we read before leaving criticised the food at La Badia - we found it okay, perfectly acceptable for this type of holiday - which doesn't claim to be a gastronomic experience. We took a couple of days off hotel food and had a meal in Sorrento, which was excellent. We would recommend a stay at La Badia - a litttle oasis of calm!
