“Wish we could have had another week”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2010

Stayed at the La Badia for one week in May with Riveira Travel group.
After a false start in getting a room with no real sea view (having paid the supplement for one) our stay was very enjoyable. It's a bit of a lottery with the rooms as they are all different. Originally in one of the large basement rooms which has a patio area outside, but also a noisy boiler room next door. We ended up on the top floor which has small "porthole" type window, but the view accross the Bay of Naples was simply stunning. I have read some negative reports about the food here, but breakfasts were fine (no variation and the juice not very good) and the evening meals were Italian "style" with plentiful starters and a small main course. I was expecting to have to dine out for a few nights, but can honestly say we had only one poor main course the whole week.
Wine menu ok and reasonably priced (avoid the local Sorrento wine though)
Very clean hotel in picturesque grounds and friendly welcoming staff.
Lovely patio and pool area. Great location for views, but maybe a little out of town if you are not very mobile. Pre-bookable transport available with Riviera as taxi back from town is expensive (15 euro)
Did a lot of research on Tripadvisor on all the hotels Riviera use in Sorrento and this one came out on top. Very pleased that I made the right choice!

My wife and I have just returned from a stay at the La Badia. The location, facilities and staff were excellent. We enjoyed views of Sorrento Bay and Vesuvius, second to none. The hotel is managed by friendly family owners who took great pride in offering good service. We travelled as part of a Riviera package and all details from UK departure to return could hardy have been bettered. One bonus was that we were part of a friendly group of fellow travellers so our holiday was enhanced by meeting some very nice people.

Hotel laBadia is situated above the bustle and noise of Sorrento with lovely views over the bay to Vesuvius. A 15 minute walk down will bring you to the town centre. During our stay the staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was very clean and tidy and our room was spotless (recently refurbished). Our only disappointment was the food at dinner which needed improving - I understand that the owner is aware of this and is trying to improve the situation. We travelled on an organised tour with Riviera Travel, and the gala dinner night on the Wednesday was very enjoyable.

Just returned from a glorious week in Sorrento at Hotel La Badia, a family run hotel which had been a Monastry. Beautiful setting, very clean and welcoming. BUT the food was appalling. A 3* hotel granted and you get what you paid for but "seasonal" vegetables were served overcooked and thus a poor colour. Such a shame for what could be a lovely hotel let down by their cooking. Not really worthy of 3 stars.

We really liked this hotel, I'm very fussy! basic, clean, quiet, lovely pool. A 10 min walk down hill track to the town, Very nice staff - would recommend. Bars around the main square are just as reasonable as the back streets!

This hotel is a real gem, stunning location with amazing views & a lovely terrace area to sit out and watch the world go by. The staff their are second to none cannot fault them, so friendly, helpful & co-operative. Willing to help with any small query you may have and they try their best to speak English.
The rooms are very clean and spacious with very nice views. They are air conditioned and nicely decorated.
The breakfast is buffet style that is always stocked up and the evening meal I found to be very nice with a good choice. The food may not be to everyones taste, but I wanted to sample authentic Italian food not typical hotel food.
Overall I really liked this hotel and would not hestitate in recommending this to people.

Travelled with Riviera Travel and stayed in the Hotel La Badia is 3 star hotel and i would say that this is the right star rating for it. I found the staff very friendly and it is family run of which they are usually there to great you. The hotel is small as it used to be an ancient abbey and is set in the middle of olive and orange groves. It is very quiet and and peacefull and has a very clean pool set at the side of the hotel with sun loungers. Rooms are very clean and spacious. They were cleaned everyday.
Spendid sea views from the terraces.
Breakfast are continental (buffet) , and the evening consists of a 3 course meal (3 choices on each one). There is s Gala evening which is on the Thursday with a bit of entertainment (usually a singer or someone playing the keyboard/guitar).
Easy Access to the centre of Sorrento, takes approx 15 minutes, slight incline on the walk back, but it is ok.
On a whole i find that the Hotel La Badia is lovely hotel and i found my time there very relaxing and enjoyed every minute of my time spent there.
