We arrived as a party of 6 (4 adults, 2 children) on 20 May for the start of our 9 day stay. We were greeted by Maria, checked in quickly and shown to our room. We had a quadruple room with a double bed upstairs in the mezzanine (which our children quickly claimed) and my husband and I had the sofa bed downstairs. The room also had a small kitchenette which is a big plus and a good sized bathroom. The room is dark but when you open the shutters the sunlight floods in. We very often didn't open the shutters though, as it was a cool relief from the blazing sun. I read another review before this and can't believe what they've written, as our room was very clean and entirely satisfactory. Our friend's room, a standard double was also lovely and clean. The swimming pool is outstandingly clean and has the most beautiful view of the mountains. In fact the whole pool area (sunbeds, chairs, eating area) is so clean and tidy we were all really impressed. The bar down at the pool was serviced by Michael, a lovely, friendly man who made us all feel very welcome and relaxed. Breakfast is excellent. There is a very good selection to choose from; cereal, fruit, yoghurts, pastries, meats etc... and drink wise there is freshly squeezed, delicious orange juice, coffee, tea or hot chocolate (the latter being a big hit with our children). We got to meet the children of the family over the first week, which our two were delighted with, particularly our 6 year old daughter and ended up having Italian lessons from lovely little Maria (age 8). The walk into Sorrento is around 15 minutes, we didn't find this a problem and weren't surprised as we had already checked the map for its position. You DO have to be careful, as the roads are narrow and busy. Our first week was fantastic and our children had a fabulous time, unfortunately on the first day of the following week our daughter had an accident, which resulted in her spending 3 days in hospital. This family, particularly Tony, not only stepped up to the mark but went above and beyond what anyone would reasonably expect. We can not thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality for what was an incredibly difficult and stressful time for us. If other guests have found this family unfriendly, I can only say they must not have been approachable or friendly themselves. All six of us liked them very much before the accident, afterwards... I honestly can not put into words how much we appreciated them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. So yes, we would defintely recommend a stay at Il Roseto.

If leaving from the Currei bus stop downtown Sorrento, walk down the hill to the first street and turn right. Walk 10 minutes down narrow bumpy side walks and it will be on the left.

We had the Garden room, which is separate from all the other rooms, and looks very new and updated. Loved the layout of the room, felt like a great value for the price. For American travelers -there is no conditioner, so bring your own.

Nice garden breakfast in the morning. Pastries (try the puffy round one rolled in sugar!), yogurt, hard boiled eggs, rolls, tomatoes, sometimes salami and cheese, cereal, fresh squeezes OJ, and fresh made cappuccinos! There is also a nice pool that has a large menu of alcoholic drinks and snacks.

Tony offered to take us to the train station when we left since we had to be there early. Seemed like a family run operation, and the staff was always available to answer questions. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: The garden room faces the lemon grove and is separate from the other buildings, looks recently redon...

We booked Il Roseto on the basis of the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. Our room was very humid and dark. One of the walls had damp marks and the humidity smell was very strong. The furniture is very tired. The bathroom was not properly cleaned. Il Roseto’s staff was not particularly friendly or helpful. Breakfast was below average – basically pastry and jam.
Location isn’t great if you plan to visit Sorrento. You would need to walk on a very busy, noisy and narrow street around 15 minutes to get to Sorrento. It is an unpleasant walk.
In terms of pros, Il Roseto has its own parking space.

Few word to answer to this EXPECTED review.
The guests booked a standard room and were accomodated in a confort room. It is true, for a technical probelm there was a small wet spot on the wall, rapdly removed. In any case, we propose them to change the room with another confort room, but they didn't accept. In all our rooms we have new forniture from Selva Factory. The tired fornitures they are speaking about are some particularly pieces of antique furniture (1800), but we understand that not everybody can realize that. The only they asked us was to pay less under the threat of a bad review, that, quickly arrived. We have no more words to say.
thank you

We stayed at B&B II Roseto in June 2013 and were very happy with the hotel for what we paid.

Granted if you are looking for 5 star treatment / resort this isn't the place, but it was perfect for us as we prefer smaller hotels / B&B's anyway and this place ticked all the boxes for us.

As others have said it is located on a fairly busy road that goes into Sorrento itself, but we found the walk to & from the town good exercise to help burn off all that glorious Italian food! Once in the B&B you can't hear the road at all though, even around the pool area (which is also very nice & perfect after a hot day's sight-seeing).

Breakfast is served in the garden each morning with the usual continental fare and it was a great way to start the day surrounded by lemon trees and watching 'il gatto' under the shade of them!

Staff were helpful and if you don't fancy the walk into town there are other smaller restaurants in the vicinity which served great food at slightly cheaper prices compared to Sorrento itself.

You are more or less equidistant between two train stations too, which are easy to hop on for trips to Pompeii, Herculaneum etc.

All in all great place for us & we'd certainly stay again if we were back in the area!

Il Roseto is a fantastic place to stay, very near to the centre of Sorrento. The location is ideal and the walk into town really isn't a big deal - if anything, it's good to stay outside of the central tourist area. It's run by a lovely Italian couple, a very personal service. Our room was clean and we had a balcony overlooking Mnt Vesuvius which was great. Delicious, fresh, ample breakfast in the gorgeous little garden, surrounded by lemon trees. Tony (one of the owners) dropped us into town when it was raining when our taxi was going to be late. Nothing was too much for them. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Room Tip: Ask for the double room called Vesuvio with the view - from what we saw, we think it was the best on...

Not only is the B & B in a lovely garden setting, the rooms are very clean. The owner and his staff are so friendly and helpful in every way. The weather did not allow for us to eat our delicious breakfast in the garden, so we were welcomed into their home for breakfast each morning. There is an open room with tables and a computer, where we could eat snacks and even a delivery pizza one night. Private parking area that is covered. The best part was being made to feel so welcome.
