We recently spent 3 days at Hotel Girasole in Sorrento, and wished it could have been longer. The hotel was lovely and quaint, the grounds were beautiful. The staff was very helpful and friendly, they made you feel at home. The location of the hotel was central to everything.

the hotel is lovely, and the staff are friendly and happy to help, however we found it a bit unreasonable that the only way in which we could get a room that was quieter was to pay 15 euro extra a night. The problem wasn't the noise from the road, we were not bothered by this in the slightest, however we did have an issue with the fact that everytime someone in one of our neighbouring rooms flushed the toilet or had a shower it sounded as though a hoover was being switched on in our room.

when we mentioned to the night porter about the level of noise ( having been kept up until 2am with the noise, which then started again at 6am) we were told there was nothing he could do.

It is a great location, and is a great base to stay at for travelling around the local tourist sights, but the fact that for the whole week we were there we maybe only had 2 nights of uniterupted sleep, bearing in mind we stayed during the off peak season so there weren't actually lots of guests about that week anyway!, i would not recommend staying here on a standard room basis, and definitely do not stay on the ground floor, we were in room 23 and it is honestly the noisest room we have EVER stayed in, in any country before, including various busy city centre hotels!

Room Tip: Do not stay in room 23, or any of the ground floor rooms!

My Mum and I enjoyed a wonderful weeks stay at Hotel Girasole. We stayed in room 38 - the view straight ahead was of beautiful hills / mountains, to the left, the Bay of Naples and Mount Versuvious and below, the beautiful garden with its numerious orange and lemon trees and flowers everywhere. The hotel is kept spotlessly clean, the staff all lovely and the breakfast (the breakfast room overlooks the garden ... or you can eat outside in the garden) was delicious - pastries made in heaven! My Mum and I spent a very relaxing day reading beside the pool after we'd exhausted ourselves exploring Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast (a 'must do' organised coach tour) and Capri. The pool bar serves a light lunch if you wish - try the speciality: mozzeralla cheese and tomato, wrapped in parma ham then baked in lemon leaves picked from the garden - delicious!

The hotel is about 25 minutes slow stroll into the centre of Sorrento but if you're not in a hurry, its a fabulous walk with fantastic views of the coast line and the mediterranean sea. Sorrento's lanes are a treat.

Room Tip: As for a room overlooking the garden and 3rd and 4th floor rooms will give you a good view of the Ba...

The owners and staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. The weather wasn't brilliant when we were there and Rita would always check the weather forecast for us.
The rooms are spotlessly clean and the towels and bathmat were changed frequently.
The gardens are lovely and full of flowers. We chose hot chocolate out of the vending machine for breakfast and it was lovely.
The only reason we have not put 5 stars is the location. The hotel is a little walk out of the centre. This was not a problem for us, but could be a problem for the elderly with mobility problems, however this is not the fault of the hotel

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from the road are quieter.

The staff at the hotel were very welcoming, the service was personalised which made you feel special. The rooms were clean and had everything you need for a hotel. It was lovely to sit and eat breakfast surrounded by orange and lemon trees along with the beautiful flowers. The views from the room were spectacular. We have no complaints in regards to the hotel and the service they provide (including arranging the taxi from the airport etc).
The hotel is about a 20 minute stroll into the hub of Sorrento. Initally the narrow or even lack of pathway is a concern but you soon learn that if you just step into the road the cars do stop!
We loved Sorrento and would definately stay at the Girasole again and would recommend it to others.
Thankyou Hotel Girasole!

My friend Moira and myself stayed for one week and we were treated like royalty. Rita and her brother were perfect hosts and nothing was too much bother for any of the staff. We booked a cruise around Capri and because of the iffy weather Rita managed to change the day for us, she booked Theatre tickets for us and because we had a very early start on our check out day, and because we would miss breakfast we were given a packed breakfast of rolls and juice, apples and biscuits etc to take with us. Everyone there was wonderful, the rooms were basic but spotless, the patio was in a lovely position with sun most of the day. The pool was very cold but gorgeous, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The bar was open each evening which was great when you came back from the Theatre etc. I would certainly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the garden and the mountains, as these are not on the main road. You can...

Very friendly, welcoming hotel. Pool area lovely and nice area in the beautiful gardens to relax in and enjoy breakfast. The only one criticisim of the hotel, as coffee lovers, we were very disappointed to find that the coffee at breakfast was out of a vending type machine. Apart from that we would definitely return. The hotel is on a very busy main road but after a very short walk on the road itself - there are pavements right in to the centre of Sorrento - so we didnt find this a problem. We love Italy and particularly Sorrento. Will definitely be back. If you love flowers and gardens with beautiful scents, and orange and lemon trees - this is the place for you !

Room Tip: Request a room not on the front of the hotel. It is extremely noisy and if you sit on your balcony...
