“Great location!”
Reviewed 7 November 2009

We chose this hotel for it's convenient location next to stores and restaurants. It is only a couple of blocks from the train/bus station and next door to a grocery store. The staff was helpful and nice. We had a room on the second floor and it was quiet in the evenings.

The electricity went out twice while I was using their hair blower. Not sure if that caused the problem (European hair blowers take longer time to dry my hair) but they had back up generator that returned the electricity quickly. The second day the maid forgot to leave towels but the hotel desk quickly bought us some. I guess the only disappointment in their breakfast (and this is small) is that coffee is from a machine.

Thoughtfully and tastefully decorated hotel about 5 minutes walk from the Circumvisuviana train station. Conveniently located next to a supermarket in the main city piazza. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was standard hotel fare. Room and washroom was bright, clean, quiet, and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay here very much!

Stayed here while on a small group tour which covered the Sorrento/Amalfi peninsula, Pompeii and Herculaneum, and Capri. Good base for this sort of trip, with clean, compact rooms, friendly and helpful staff. Convenient to a host of restaurants. Our room had a small balcony overlooking a main street, Corso Italia, but wasn't particularly noisy when the balcony door was closed. In good weather one can sit on the balcony, which has two chairs and a small table, and enjoy the passing scene. While the hotel is comfortable, it is not luxurious.
The breakfast room offers a couple of juices, fresh croissants, so-so bread and hard rolls, pastry, one or two kinds of fresh fruit, ham, cheese, three or four kinds of cereal, yogurt, etc. There's a good sized supermarket next door, but the rooms are not set up for eating in.
There's internet available for a small fee, although our tour included it. Only one computer, but with only 12 rooms that wasn't a big problem. Room TVs have an English channel or two; a wider selection is available on the TV in the breakfast room.

My husband, daughter (4 year old) and I spent 4 nights at the Hotel Sorrento City. The hotel is very well located, we were able to walk (with suitcase and daughter) from train station without any difficulty. Despite being on the main street it is well insulated and the rooms were quiet (although we were at the back of the hotel so that might have contributed to the silence). Our room was small but adequate, clean and the fittings new. The staff were very friendly and helpful with everything we tried to do.

We spent 4 nights at the Hotel Sorrento City. The hotel is well located right in the main street of Sorrento and close to the Circumvesuviana railway station. Despite being in the busy main street, the windows sealed well and kept the room quiet. The hotel is quite new, well fitted out and clean. The room was quite small (though no smaller than many other European hotels), but it was still adequate in size for our needs. Breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Sorrento is a great base for day trips to Pompeii, Vesuvius, the Isle of Capri and the Amalfi Coast (Amalfi, Positano, etc) and the Hotel Sorrento City makes an excellent base in Sorrento.

me and my girlfriend made a reservation for this hotel ahead through booking.com for 120 euros per one night.
we ordered 3 nights.
the location is ultimate, 5 minutes walking from the cerntral train station, circumvesuviana which is also adjacent to local bus station SITA.
the hotel is located on the central and primary street 'italia corso' and adjacent to Supermarket! what else a traveller could ask for...
the room was nice and clean though a bit small and contained a sweet small balcony just upon the lively street Italia Corso.
the shower was clean, comfortable and well accessorized.
the staff was highly helpful and courteous and assisted us by supplying us relevant maps, guiding us regarding trasnport: hours & prices and also regarding attractions. during our stay we encountered 4 different front-desk representative and each and every one of them behaved that way!
once we even asked for cutlery in order to have an after-noon meal that we just bought at the adjacent supermarket, and were immediately responded positively.
breakfast was good.
i would definitely recommend this hotel but for realistic price. i definitely think that 120 euros per night is too expensive relatively to the reward that one gets from the hotel.
during our 17 days in southern Italy we found equivalent hotels in less price.
