“ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!!”
Reviewed 13 October 2010

I found this quaint hotel on trip advisor, and I am SO glad we found it. This hotel is like an oasis. Placed among Olive and Lemon Groves, and overlooking the ocean, it was the most peaceful beautiful place I've seen. Our room was HUGE, and overlooked the ocean. The staff is incredible. And the Breakfast....Oh...THE Breakfast. Really, I am craving some of the amazing stuff they served at breakfast. While the hotel is a bit out of sorrento (plan to get back to the hotel via bus or an expensive taxi), it was totally worth it. I'd love to come back and bring my parents next time. The only down side was the private beach still is in stages of upgrades. That is the final piece that will make the price of this hotel go up steeply. So book now. :) The only thing that would make this place even better would be a pool! :)

Hotel staff were very helpful even before arrival by arranging a car to pick us up(for a good price) as our flight was arriving at night. Our room was lovely, very clean and spacious with a view of the lemon trees in the garden. The hotel has a private beach about ten minutes walk from the back of the hotel, a pebble beach with sun loungers provided set in a beautiful cove. However as we didn't hire a car it was difficult to get into Sorrento, the hotel provides a shuttle bus but it only makes 4 journeys from 9am-3pm. Not helpful if you want to have dinner in Sorrento, your options are walk up the steep hill to the main road and along it ( very narrow and dangerous) for five minutes to get to the local bus, which comes every 20-30 minutes or get a taxi which costs at least 25 euro. On the night we ate in the restaurant in the hotel, we found it expensive, with a limited menu and the food was not as good as elsewhere. Great stay but they need to improve their shuttle bus service.

Relais Regina Giovanna is set in citrus and olive groves about 3km from Sorrento. The hotel is a converted farmhouse with an amazing olive press in the restaurant. We had a huge peaceful room ( actually a sitting room and bedroom) on the top floor and our son had a gigantic room on the same floor. There was no lift.

The staff were wonderful , offering quiet, efficient unobtrusive service of the best sort. All were excellent but one would like to especially single out Rosa at Reception and Monica serving in the Restaurant and Bar.

Breakfast offered an excellent selection and the hotel coped extremely well with a special dietary requirement . There was a small choice of evening meals available ( usually 3 for each course) ; the cooking was excellent and reasonably priced.

There was a lovely roof terrace, perfect for watching the sunset over the Bay of Naples.

There was a private (rocky) beach with sun beds and towels available. There is a half-finished building just back from the beach apparently awaiting final planning permission before it can be completed but I believe there are plans for this to house a bar, loos , showers etc.

The location might be a problem for some as taxis in Sorrento are really expensive but the hotel offers a shuttle into and out of Sorrento at 9.00, 11.00 , 13.00 and 15.00 , local buses run past at the top of the drive and some restaurants will provide transport if you ar e having a meal with them. For us, swapping the hustle and bustle of Sorrento
for the wonderful serenity of the hotel grounds more than made up for any transport difficulties. There is parking in any event if one hires a car.

All in all , we had an excellent holiday thanks to all at Regina Giovanna

What more can we say, staff, restaurant, food, accommodation, beach, all wonferful. Felt like a member of the family, everyone was more than accommodating and treated us like personal friends....would truly love to return to such a wonderful relaxing hotel. Would recommend this accommodation to everyone we know, could not fault it. It is outside Sorrento, but this adds to the charm and tranquility and the hotel shuttle is more extremely useful, although we did walk from Sorrento and thoroughly enjoyed the views....the room was extremely comfortable and spacious...stunning views.....

The location was great set in an orchard of olive and lemon trees. Most rooms are self catering so you can save money by buying local porduce and cooking. Otherwise you can take the shuttle bus to Sorrento (its just a bit too far to walk). The resturant was a dissappointment for dinner as the food is limited and quite expensive however breakfast was very good.
The little beach is nice and you can make you way across to a large rock shelf and site and watch the sunset.

Would recomend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing place away from sorrento.

We stayed at the RRG for 3 nights - wished we had stayed longer.
The RRG is situated on the outskirts of Sorrento in the middle of a lemon Grove. The hotel décor oozes good taste, creating a wonderfully relaxed ambiance. Our room was the size of a mini suite with a separate seating area. Lovely pieces of furniture permeating the wonderful smell of wood thought the room. Huge comfortable bed, decent sized bathrooms. The rooms have individual aircon which stayed on when the room was vacated, this meant that when you got back to the hotel hot & bothered your room was wonderfully cool and you could soon relax.
RRG has its own beach , about a 10 min walk from the Hotel.
The Restaurant was by reservation only, the quality of the food very good although we found it expensive to feed the family - had it only been the two of us we probably eaten here for the 3 nights. As it turned out we discovered a wonderful beach side restaurant at Marina di Puolo - about a 20 min walk from the hotel. No worries about walking back, the Manager of the Restaurant offered a complimentary list back to the Hotel!
The staff were very helpful and friendly and dealt very well with a minor problem that we had with one of the rooms.
One tip for those with very young children, the Hotel is very peaceful and it may be stressful maintaining the peace with young boisterous children!
If we visit this area again the RRG will definitely be our 1st choice for hotel.

Fantasic night and I wished had planned to stay longer. We paid EUR107 a night with breakfast and even though dinner was a little expensive and the only option unless you want to head to town I cannot say enough about this place. Our room was next to the balcony so we had a few beers and watched the sunset over the plantations. Walked down to the pebble beach were we relaxed with no one else around. Could not recommend this place highly enough. A great place to relax and let the time tick by.
