We enjoyed a 9 night stay on recent family holiday. Very modern hotel with bright and stylish decor in public and private areas, looks as though it has been recently decorated.

Rooms very quiet at night thanks to effective double-glazing, with massive beds, enough space for in-room Chair and sliding window to veranda. Cupboards and drawer space aplenty finished in solid wood mahogany similar to floor. Comfortable enough to enjoy a few hours hanging-out before venturing into the Sorrento night-life.

Roof top pool and bar/decking area are not to be missed. Make sure to enjoy a drink or two in the early evening sun, truly an experience in itself with the Sorrento Town centre, Vesuvius and Bay area fully in view.

The pool is not suitable for extended swimming, only to cool-off after some heavy site seeing, or returning on the Positano bus or the Circumvesuviana. In these cases, the mere thought of relaxing with a cool drink is enough to get you through those last few stops (35 of them on the Circum from Napoli...).

Wifi operated as advertised with 2 additional Hotel PC's located in Basement both fully functional and co-located with Printer which massively helps with Boarding Cards, maps etc. Thanks to the Guest who retreived and returned my wallet & camera from the Business centre - you are a true gentleman!

Staff very efficient across all services, they even provide a Valet service at10E when across the road in the multi-storey cark park it's 20E per night and you have to retreive your own car.

We hung around in the Bar/Reception area on a few evenings but the atmosphere was pretty dull with very few other Hotel guests or outside visitors. Pity, because the Bar area is very swish and the Service excellent. I guess it's really tough to compete with establishments close-by but I'm sure there is something that could be done to retain their 'captive audience' for a little longer with a little more imagination.

Breakfast was of a very high standard offering traditional favourites as well as local specialities whose names I can't remember except to say they were very sweet and very delicious. The Breakfast Waiters were extremely attentive, only ruffled on a single ocassion when a massive group of French guests bypassed (an unusual) queue to be seated one morning. They freestyled onto seats of their choice causing a massive argument with another French group who claimed to have already occupied. Great fun really, I'm sure Guiseppe will raise a smile when he thinks back on it.

Aside from the lack of a Hotel atmosphere/vibe in the evenings the only other suggestion for improvement would be on the banging door front. We progressed onto a hotel in Roma where they clearly had the same problem and had installed hydraulic door closers - very effective. Have to say that I was probably responsible for a small proporation of the door banging commented by recent reviewers (sorry guys), it's so easy to forget when your doors at home aren't as heavy or shut with the same vigour!

We stayed here for 4 nights with our seven-year old. Of the many hotels I have stayed in, this place ranks among the top for several reasons. The service is outstanding and incredibly helpful, especially with sightseeing, restaurant and activity recommendations. There are many restaurants in Sorrento, but not many that are outstanding. The facilities are beautiful. The rooftop swimming pool is stunning (partial view of the ocean). My son could just about stand in it.

The breakfast buffet is very large an varied with everything from cereals, delicious baked treats, cold cuts, cheese, yoghurts, bacon, even cakes and custards.

The rooms come in several categories. We upgrade from the lowest (without balcony) to one with a balcony. The doors of the balcony don't let through any of the traffic noise and the curtains really make the room dark, so it's easy to get a good night's sleep. Our son slept on the single pullout chair, which was actually as comfortable as our Queen bed. The rooms are not big, but certainly adequate. It's much better (and more fun) to escape to the pool area when you return from sightseeing.

The hotel is located in the centre of town, about a 5 minute walk from the train station, 2 minutes from the tourist info. This is a great hotel for couples, and was well-suited for our family of 3. If you're on a family vacation, don't miss the ice cream making lessons at one of the gelaterias on Via Italia or pizza at Da Franco's, the best pizza we had in Italy.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies have a partial view of the ocean. Some balconies also have a view of the ruins...

We had a nice quiet standard room - bigger than I expected with a modern feel. The whole hotel was sparkling clean and the staff very helpful. We had come over from Capri and were able to catch the but from the Marina to Piazza Tasso so it was only a quick walk to the hotel. They include breakfast which had a wide selection and lots of coffee options. Walking distance to everything. Really enjoyed it! NIce small pool on the roof - but any pool in the city center is a bonus - views from the top were lovely day or night.

Great hotel, very well located, walk 100 meters and you are right in the heart of Sorrento! Great shopping in the area on Corso Italia, Giala shoe store is a must! The rooms are great for Europe standards, modern, not too small and clean. The infinity pool is small but the view is great. Sorrento is not known for their beaches so the pool is a great option! Would recommend this hotel hands down!

Stayed as a family in this hotel in August 2012. The hotel is beautifully presented, small but lovely feel to the place and stylishly decorated. Rooms we stayed in were great, lovely views of Sorrento and Vesuvius, and very very comfortable and modern. Staff were without exception friendly and helpful.
Location is great. Just step outside of your tranquil haven and you are in the marvellously chaotic city of Sorrento with more restaurants that you can visit in one holiday, but when it's all too much come back to the cool calm Hotel Plaza.
Others have commented on the pool, which we found fine, and considering its on the roof, marvellous for a cooling dip.
If we had any comment the breakfast was a little unimaginative. How about some beautiful fresh Italian bread? And the coffee - well its a sin to serve machine coffee in a country that serves the best stuff in the world, but sadly the hotel did just that.
All in all thoroughly recommended.

This was our first family holiday in Italy and the Hotel Plaza made it truly rememorable for all the right reasons. It's location is ideal - 5 minutes walk from railway and bus station and Piazza Tasso (the main square in the town) is even closer. This area abounds with restaurants and local and brand name shopping, so all tourist tastes are catered for. The port and two Marina beaches are about 10-15 minutes walk away, but if you want to soak up the sun look no further than the hotel's top floor with plenty of sun loungers and deck chairs and infinity swimming pool. The view over Mount Vesuvio and the Bay of Naples has to be one of the best in Sorrento - and we have friends who stayed in another hotel closer to the sea word for that! There is also a roof top bar which also serves lunchtime snacks at a reasonable price.

The hotel itself is modern, clean and well equipped (having a "free to use" safe in each room was a bonus). The staff were friendly and quietly efficient - nothing was too much trouble and made staying at the Plaza a real delight. The extensive breakfast buffet ensured that the family with different tastes were all catered for with a wide selection of fruits, pastries, breads, juices, meats cheese and hot choices. Of course the coffee was classic Italian! During the season The "Drink & Piano" evenings made for a relaxing end to the evening over a cocktail or two.

Would we use Hotel Plaza again? An emphatic "Yes" from all the family! We hope to return in the future.

We stayed at the Hotel Plaza for 7 nights during late July on a Bed & breakfast basis.

Upon our arrival we were dealt with efficiently. Our booking was for a 'Superior Room' which was located on the 3rd floor.

The room was very spacious and modern and contained comfy twin beds. The room also included a flat-screen TV (very few English channels), free safe, but no tea & coffee making facilities and a small balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the hustle and bustle of the street below with partial views towards the sea.

The bathroom was large and clean with a bath / shower, complimentary soaps, along with bath robes & slippers. There was also a wall mounted hair dryer together with a shaver socket.

Air conditioning in the room was excellent and kept our room at a lovely temperature throughout our stay.

There were however no ironing facilities in the room, but the hotel were only to happy to assist when I needed to iron a shirt for a wedding. A mini bar was also available in the room for drinks & snacks.

During our stay the room was well maintained.

The hotel has a small plunge pool on the roof along with a bar, loungers and seating area.

The breakfasts had a reasonable variety of food and the service from the waiting staff was always excellent.

Free Wi-fiis available throughout the hotel.

On the whole we were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Plaza.
