I stayed here for a week in April during a tour of Southern Italy. We used the hotel as our base as we traveled during the day to Naples, Amalfi, Pompeii and more. It was a great central location to all these amazing spots. The hotel is very modern from the lobby and bar to the rooms and bathrooms! The staff was lovely and was willing to help anyway possible. They even arranged a massage at a nearby spot just a day in advance. My only concern was the food. The breakfasts were fine but the dinners we had there were less than satisfying especially since all the great food available in the area!

Stayed at the Plaza 16-23rd May. Had a superior twin room on 5th floor with balcony which allowed view of Vesuvius and over the valley at side of hotel. This is in a superb central location. The outstanding feature of this hotel are the staff who were all very welcoming and made our stay a great experience. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, pastries, hot options and even fresh vegetables to make your own smoothies.
Our room was light, the beds had soft pillows and the bathroom / shower facilities excellent.
The infinity pool is relatively small although there weren't many guests using it while we were there, it might get a little crowded during high season. Even so it is beautifully maintained and is a great area for relaxing and for good views across the town. The lunchtime snacks served here are also very good.
The ground floor bar also serves up the best aperitifs and cocktails in Town by the excellent bar staff.
I loved the ambience of this hotel and it is definitely my favourite place to stay next time I come to Sorrento.

We stayed at the Plaza from 16 to 23 May 2014 and found the hotel to be comfortable, spotlessly clean with efficient, friendly and hard working staff. Our Room was at the back of the hotel with not much of a view and no balcony but it was very quiet at all times and cheaper than other locations. Our room, like the rest of the hotel, was furnished in a modern style - we had a lovely big bed and adequate furniture and fittings for our needs - the bathroom was immaculately clean and well stocked with clean towels and toiletries every day. We did not dine in the hotel on an evening however the breakfast was second to none and set us up very adequately for the day. There was something for everyone and the choice was amazing for such a small hotel infact I would go as far as to say that it was even better than the cruise ships I have been on as far as choice went. Guiseppe always had a friendly smile for us and everyone else every morning. The pool, whilst not very big, was lovely to relax in on a hot day and thankfully it was very quiet most days, often just a couple of us in at a time, but if you want to do some serious swimming this is not the pool to do it in - the jacuzzi effect was also very acceptable along one side of the pool. A downside is that there are no grounds to this hotel for relaxing in - just a small rooftop terrace with a bar near the pool and a small bar area to the front of the hotel downstairs - but the hotel is very centrally located and just mins walk from the main Tasso Piazza area which really has a buzz on a night time and a great place for people watching. There is a small shop over the road from the hotel if you want to buy drinks, sweets, crisps etc plus a little shop selling souvenirs but within 5 mins walk there is an array of shops ranging from designer to nick nack shops selling local stuff plus many restaurants, bars and cafes. The bus park for going on day trips is approx. ten mins stroll and very easy to find. Whilst Sorrento is quite hilly the area where the Plaza is situated is quite flat so would poss suit people with mobility probs as long as you did not want to go down to the marina which is a very very steep road but there is a bus and a lift for anyone who did not want to walk (we walked down but got the lift or bus back). I would def stop at this hotel again as the only negative is the lack of outdoor space at the hotel - everything else is perfect and standards are very high

Room Tip: rooms at the rear are very quiet but have no balcony though cheaper - if you want to pay more be aware that the rooms overlooking the front street with a balcony could be noisy as they are on a busy main street

The Hotel Plaza is situated in the heart of Sorrento, just up from the lively Piazza Tasso, but is quiet and peaceful. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming, and answered all our many queries.
No restaurant, but given its position this is definitely not a problem as there are restaurants of all types within 100 m of the hotel (including vegetarian, horray!). The hotel breakfast self service boasted a massive range of choice, including many local dishes.
We liked to escape from the crowds on the roof top which has wonderful views. (See photo.)
On our return we recommended Hotel Plaza to twin sister, who then booked a week in the summer.

Room Tip: Side rooms have a sea view.

This hotel is in a perfect location within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants, the station and the slightly scary road down to the port for the ferries. We stayed in a top floor room at the front and our balcony had a great view of the street below plus the sea and Vesuvius in the distance. The room was not the largest, considering it was one of the most expensive but had everything you need, was immaculately clean and quiet. The bathroom was particularly good.
The staff were really friendly especially Maria on reception and the barman who's name I have shamefully forgotten. Maria very helpfully arranged to have our coats shipped to the UK after we stupidly left them behind. The whole hotel is decorated in a very modern style which suited us fine but just be aware if you are looking for something more traditionally Italian.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have the best views
