“Camping in a motorhome”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2011

People with a large motorhome need to be wary, if you dont get a spot on the first elevation the camp winds around small roads and take some getting into to avoid trees. The amenties on the first elevation are adequate but the ones further away are very poor and do not even have toilet paper! It is a long walk all up hill from the bottom to the street entrance. If you are lucky enough to get a few of the choose spots on the first elevation there are some fantastic views. Overall not as good as other camps i have stayed in europe nor as clean!

We liked this camping site very much. They have many facilities for holidays: swimming pool and own beach free of charge, 2 and 3 place private tents, cabins or bongalows, pivate or shared showers and toilets (clean!), small kitchen with fridges per every 4-5 cabins.
We stayed in double tent which appeared to be wooden house-cabin 2x2 m with 2 beds and a window and a shelf inside (but not all tents are wooden). The linen and pillows were provided and they were clean. The "tent" had a wooden door with a lock, you can keep the key if you go outside of the camping.
Our kitchen was always dirty because people did not clean after themselves, the toilets and showers were cleaned every day by stuff. Showers have hot water. There were dishes and pans in teh kitchen.
There are also special basins for washing teh dishes and clothes washing. There are also washing mashines (maybe for additional charge) in camping.
The way to the beach is quite long because camping is on the hill, but it is the same everywhere in Sorrento because of teh rocky coastline.
The cabins are surrounded by lemon, orange and olive trees.
Sorrento is 20 min. by foot (along highway) or 10 min. by bus. One can stay in camping and take excursions on site or from Sorrento.
We are satisfied with our holidays in this camping.

I have just came back from a trip there and my friend and i stayed in the green cabin. It was basic but clean and was NOT infested with ants or bugs as alot of people said. The pool was clean and the pool bar is cheap ... bottles of heineken for 2 euros!!!
The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was ok but didn't open until 7pm so there isn't really anywhere to buy food from during the day. The walk into Sorrento doesn't take long and there are lots of places to eat there which were reasonably priced.

Went on the Busabout Italian Explorer trip. Great trip but would not recommend the standard accomodation at Santa Fortunta. The whole place is sub standard and not improved since our stay 4 years ago. Went against my wires advice and got the upgrade ensuite. BED BUGS! We've never experienced this issue. I had over 100 in my bed and had lots of bites - fortunately didn't swell with me. My wife had fewer bugs but badly affected by the bites. Busabout guide was great in helping us. However, the SF guys didn't seem to care less! Ours was the only cabin on the tour affected - #23 I think. This location is an insult to Busabout. Now we are paranoid about bugs after all the figumigation, washing & treatment we've done in the past days

Stayed here for three nights and used it as a base to explore the South. We stayed in the "hostel" which is just a small bungalow. The room was small but it had everything that we needed, a clean bed and a clean shower. You won't be spending a lot of time in your room anway. You'll find yourself sitting outside with other campers taking in a balmy Sorrento evening.

The campsite had loads of facilities, including a mini mart , a fantastic pool which was perfect to jump into after a day of exploring Pompeii. If the pool's not for you, why not try the private beach. It also has cooking facilities and pots and pans provided. Don't feel like cooking? Go to the restaurant or the pizza place just around the corner from the camp ground.

Camp site also offers tours of Amalfi Coast, Naples, Pompeii and the Isle of Capri.

Bus stop was directly outside the camp ground which is great.

Have no hesitation recomending the campsite to everyone!

Stayed here two nights as part of a tour. I'd upgraded to a cabin, which I thought was great. My friends who'd stayed in the tents said they were quite poor. Was hardly at the campsite much. Pool was average. Campsite restaurant was excellent value and the food really good. The views from the campsite were amazing. Overall, good value accomodation in expensive Sorrrento.

We stayed here because we were on a tight budget and wanted someplace central to Pompeii, Napoli, and the Amalfi Coast. We rented a 2-room, 4-bed en suite cabin. It was basic but functional, and included a kitchen with enough equipment to cook basic meals, thus saving us lots of additional money as restaurant meals are exorbitant in that region of Italy.

The campground is very large and had lots of different types of accommodations depending upon your budget and needs. We especially enjoyed the large and immaculate swimming pool, and the private beach (beaches are hard to find along this coast because of the cliffs, and this one is only so-so for swimming but you can sunbathe and jump off the rocks). They hired a group of college students to provide daily entertainment at the pool, including water aerobics and disco dancing, which was fun - like a low budget Club Med. Our reservation said the pool costed 2.5 Euro per day extra, but when we were there they were not charging the fee, which was nice. There was a bar by the pool, so it's probably a good place for travelers to meet; lots of different languages and countries (mainly European) represented among the guests. (Our only wish was that the pool didn't close for the two hours between 7:30-9:30 pm.) The campground also has a small grocery store that is not too overpriced, and a restaurant-pizzeria.

It was quite noisy at night, with fireworks at midnight a couple of nights, and a group of young men staying near us who sang loudly in a Germanic-sounding chorus until about 10:30-11:00 every night. Of course, that was just our bad luck to be staying there at the same time as them, but bring earplugs and/or don't stay there if you can't handle some noise.

As other reviewers have commented, you take your life in your hands walking into the town of Sorrento on the narrow road with crazy drivers. We had a car, so that wasn't a problem for us. In general, add lots more time than the mileage would suggest to get to nearby destinations, because the roads are small and congested. And beware of an almost nonstop procession of motorcycles passing in your lane.

Some reviews have also commented about ants, and there were also plenty of mosquitoes. But bugs are part of camping - it's nature, after all!
