“In my opinion, overrated...”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

We went to this restaurant last night, after reading many excellent reviews about it.

We arrived around 9pm a little bit late for a dinner in Sorrento. We wait for a table for 10-15min and then we could sit down. Overall impression - small restaurant (around 10tables) but very cozy.

Positive points
- good wine menu
- cozy atmosphere

Some negative points:
- bad service: the guy was running all the time and hardly could pay attention on the tables. He kept cleaning other tables, although it was unnecessary since there was any other clean tables empty.
- menu - you don't have many options.
- For the steak you have the sirloin and t-bone basically. The Sirloin is around €23 (for a 500g plate, what is not that much for 1 person since it has a bone and lots of fat). The taste of the steak was maximum ok, far away from the "best steak ever"
- side dishes- we ordered the broccoli, mushroom and French fries - €5 each. Fries we're really good, mushrooms were ok and the broccoli was actually spinach (???) and was very salty.

We said to the waitress that the spinach was bad and he brought us a Tiramisu for apologize, very well done. And yes they charge us the "broccoli".

Overall - overrated here. Far away from a 5-star restaurant.

“Wonderful food - amazing steaks!”
Reviewed 12 August 2014 via mobile

My husband and I spotted this place near our hotel and decided a steak dinner was in order - this place is amazing! We came in twice for dinner and both times had great food - we each had the sirloin on our first visit and shared Chateaubriand on our second. The Chateaubriand may well be the best steak we've both ever had! This place has only been open for 4 months and was busy every time we walked past and dined here, which is testament to the staff and food. The staff are great too - despite being very busy they are friendly and helpful. On our second visit, a large and boisterous British party were dining but they were dealt with deftly and with no detriment to the service we received. Totally recommended!

“Best steak I've eaten - good value!”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

We visited this restaurant as others have said - for a break from pizza & pasta! We were not disappointed! We were given a table right away and despite it's apparent popularity the restaurant seemed quiet, this made for a nice relaxing atmosphere. We ordered our wine and were given bread and also a small complimentary starter which was yummy. We opted for the chateaubriand to share, and planned to order a couple of sides as well. The menu stated that it was 50 euros, we weren't quite sure if this was per person or for us both! But having experienced the prices of chateaubriand in the UK and everyones comments about Sorrento being so expensive, we were half expecting it to be per person! Anyway, when we order the waiter explained that the dish came with a range of sides so no need to order extra - great! When it arrived it was cooked perfectly (Medium rare) and the range of sides and sauces was extensive! It was delicious, the most tasty and tender steak I've eaten! Yummy :-)

“Good but not great”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 via mobile

12 of us chose this steak restaurant on the back of the fantastic reviews. It's great be able to have something a little different from pizza and pasta and the meat was certainly good. A few problems, which may have been down to our Italian rather than the restaurant resulted in some of the party getting raw or at the best extremely rare steak, when they wanted it medium. Service was ok but a little on the slow side, which may have been due to the Wedding happening in it's sister restaurant and the trip to the toilets was certainly an adventure. The restaurant doesn't have one on site, but next door and the gents was occupied by an elder lady!!

Overall my impression was this is a good steak restaurant, but if you been to any of the good ones in New York or London it 's below that standard. And if you want your steak medium rare order it well done!!

“Amazing food and excellent service”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We went to Il Marzialino as we fancied a change from pizza and pasta. Not only did it surprisingly turn out to be the best meal of the holiday, but probably to best dining experience I've ever had!

The service was second to none- polite, charming and nothing was too much trouble (even for the lady across the restaurant who was being particularly difficult!) We were brought a complementary entrée and limoncello to finish our meal and still, we were not even charged the usual italian coperto. The food didn't disappoint either. I had a steak with steakhouse fries and a mixture of homemade relishes. It was incredibly well cooked, tender and not even the tiniest bit of fat. My friend had a gormet burger from the specials board and she was even given a complementary glass of prosecco to go with it! The food was delicious and the portions very generous. This restaurant really is a must!
