A spontaneous little trip was planned to Italy with a friend!
It was brilliant!
The villa was quaint just as i had hoped. High up on the hill side.
We shared many laughs walking to the top.
Adoring the beautiful views, and sharing a feel for real italian life among the cobbled streets.
The place and its surroundings were what u might say twankwil :)

We had a lovely week at Villa pane having fun, leisure and enjoying the spirit of a real Italian family. The house is run by family Pane, where the mother keeps everything under control, from the kitchen to the rooms. Clean and cosy place, excellent food and drink made by the house. Beautiful view on the sorrento bay spoils the guest, perfect choice for travellers who are not interested in the noisy city center. Be careful with rented cars, the way up to the villa is extremely narrow.

We were four persons and stayed for 5 night and days , unforgetable for each of us. Starting with the beautiful wiew over Naple's bay , the hills , the nature , the birds , the green mountains that slide into the blue sea , and finally having Anna Maria and her team as our hosting angels , taking care of each of us , coocking for each one his beloved specialitie , from pasta , to carne and the wonderfull supa de cozze and fried langustini , delicious deserts , local cheeses and fruits from their garden, and finally the clean rooms with the pleasant parfumed smells of flowers and perfumes.

Just got back from a great weeks stay at Villa Pane.

Before we booked the holiday we spent quite a lot of time trying to find a place that would be close to Sorrento, would be quiet for relaxation, and would offer B+B enabling us to sample the wonderful Italian cuisine every evening....Villa Pane did not disappoint on any of these measures.

High above the hillside overlooking Sorrento, the only criticism you could have about the Villa is location (approx 40 mins walk down a steep hill / 5 mins by car). The free shuttle service that Anna Maria and Gianluigi offer however is very good and an essential way to go back and forth into the town. We were able to get by quite easily using this shuttle without needing to consider hiring a car or moped. As mentioned in some of the other reviews, the approach roads to the Villa are very narrow but this isn't a big concern when somebody else is doing the driving! On the flipside - the location does however mean that the Villa has stunning views over Sorrento particularly from the roof terraces.

Our bedroom was quite small but modern and well appointed so no complaints. The terraced area with the swimming pool and sun loungers, situated in the grounds of the villa was a particularly peaceful area to relax and unwind. Overall we enjoyed the small feel to the Villa (only 8 rooms) and it was nice to meet and get to know the other guests - something it would not be as easy to do in a bigger hotel

A couple of words about the hosts - Anna Maria and her son Gianluigi will go to every effort to ensure that all your needs are met, which adds a nice personal touch to the experience. Anna Maria is a wonderful chef - all the guests commented about the standard of her cooking (and size of the portions!). We did the cookery course with Anna Maria which was fantastic and a great experience - you dont need to be an expert chef to enjoy this!

Watching the fotos and the other comments posted on the site you may be thinking that you're just about to spend a beautifull stay. think again : it's better than that.
villa pane offers you quintessential Italy. The house is located on the hills behind Sorrento. The 4 rooms we occupied (we were 9) on the common terrace (first floor) were big and very nice - all with private bathroom including in one a sea-view jacuzzi. On the top of the building you can spend the last hours of the day watching the sun and the gulf of Napoli. It's very quiet since it is not in the city. The center is a little too far to go there by feet, but Anna-maria or Gianluigi (or both) can give you a ride to the center several times a day. So it's not a problem. It's even an Napoli-style-adventure since the streets nearby the Villa are extremly narrow and steep
There is also a swimming pool - a very small one but you're happy to find it there after a long day walking in the alleys of pompei.
But what we enjoyed the most was the welcoming of Anna-maria and Gianluigi (her son) who were incredible hosts. If you enjoy Italian food this is the place to stay. Anna maria goes to the local food market early in the morning and spend the all day cooking to provide you with a diner experience which matches the finest gourmet restaurants (ask for the gnocchis). She makes her own bred (hence the name of the villa). Gianluggi is very helpfull. He helped us organizing our stay (renting sooters, a boat to Capri and so on) .
Leaving such a place is not so easy because at Villa Pane we were like at home for 4 days but we are sure we will soon come back.
