“Burnt Fish and Bad Services”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

We booked this restaurant based on previous trip advisor reviews. The venue is beautiful and it is located on Marina Grande overlooking a cute cove. We ordered a whole fish and the crayfish with pasta. The fish looked great when it first came out but when we turned it over the other side of the fish was so burnt it was charcoaled. It was obvious that the restaurant had put the burnt so face down in the hope that we would not notice. The crayfish and pasta looked good but was tastless. We had to keep flagging the waiters down to get any service and when we did ask for something it took ages to get to us - they seemed to deliberately like to keep you waiting. The food and wine was quite expensive for what it was. It seemed to be more expensive than other reviews state so maybe they have increased their prices recently. There are lots of better restaurants along the Marina Grande so I wouldn't really bother with this one. Also we got annoyed by a strolling musician who stood at our table and serenaded us - he left once we gave him 2 euros and you could see other people in the restaurant rolling their eyes whenever he came near them. He was followed closely by a man selling roses.

“Just ok”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

The setting for this restaurant is beautiful but we found the meal to be disappointing. We ordered the house wine and had to return it because it was horrible. The fish was fishy tasting. It is a pretty place, but all 4 of us agreed it was overrated.

“Loved It”
Reviewed 24 June 2014 via mobile

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel in Marina Piccola as one of the nicest places to eat in Sorrento and it did not disappoint.

This was the last night of a 2 week honeymoon in Italy on which we had eaten at some very expensive restaurants and hotels. Soul & Fish stood up to all of these at a fraction of the price.

The harbour setting is beautiful and on any other night would be a wonderful place to watch the sunset. As it was we were caught in quite the storm with thunder, lightning and torrential rain. We had originally sat outside on the edge of the terrace along with a number of other couples but as the weather deteriorated, the staff made an effort to move everyone under cover with little or no fuss.

The menu is unfussy and centres on fresh seafood. All of it sounded great, but the standout dishes for us were the caponatina made with cuttlefish & orange, the octopus in spicy tomato ragout and my wife ordered the lobster & linguine. This was a huge portion complete with a half lobster and all of the tools for cracking & picking at the meat. We also ordered a main of swordfish with spicy mango salsa which again was excellent.

Upon arrival we were met with a free glass of prosecco and the wine list is without a doubt the cheapest we saw in our two week trip. A great bottle of PG was only €14. Most places charge anything from €6-9 a glass. We finished our meal with a complimentary limoncello which was a nice touch.

The guys in the restaurant were friendly and helpful and the service was relaxed but still on point. The restaurant has a more contemporary feel to many of the more traditional places on the Amalfi Coast which makes for a nice change.

If you are in Sorrento I would definitely make the short walk to Marina Grande for a meal here. You will not be disappointed.

“A fishy delight!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

Like most holiday makers we had the usual conversation regarding best places where we had eaten during our stay. This restaurant was at the top of both of our lists. The food is very good, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and it is great value for money. A little bit of a trek from the main town (especially during a thunderstorm) but well worth a visit. The tuna encrusted in almonds is a sensation as is the spaghetti with clams!
