This has been a fantastic holiday in the most fantastic villa. We loved it the minute that we arrived! Pasquale and his parents along with his little boy were here to welcome us. They showed us around the villa then the all important garden where we were invited to pick tomatoes, aubergines and chillies to eat. They also explained where the local supermarket is in the village; a ten minute walk away. The villa itself is beautifully presented and very clean. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large sitting room/ dining room along with a kitchen. The villa has a dishwasher and washing machine, they even gave us dishwasher tablets! There was soap in the bathrooms and also spare loo rolls. Towels and bed linen were provided and the beds were made up. There is a large flat screen TV and we brought our Apple TV that we used on the wifi.
On the Monday evening Pasquale and his family arrived with provisions and made traditional pizzas that were delicious and kept us going throughout the week. They also brought their own home made red and white wine which was lovely.
The view from the garden is super, overlooking the mountains and down towards the sea. It was a 20 minute drive to Sorrento, about 30 to Pompei and 40 to Herculaneum. A great location and an even better villa. Fabulous hosts!
The villa is in a beautiful part of Italy. We were welcomed and shown around. They had provided milk and wine and there were plenty of condiments in the cupboard. The villa was clean with plenty of space. They had towels and beach towels for the pool. We loved the wooden table in the living area where we ate and played board games when it was wet. The pool was cleaned regularly but as the weather wasn't great it didn't warm up enough for me although my daughter still made use of it but that would be something to be aware of it you were visiting in October. From the garden you have lovely views and I had fresh tomatoes from the garden. My children were intrigued by the kiwi trees but the fruit wasn't ripe yet.
You would need a car for this villa although in the guest book visitors had made use of the local bus service. We walked up into the village (15 min) for dinner on 2 occasions but on other occasions had a large lunch and then just bread or rolls filled with fresh cheese and salami. The local supermarket was friendly. With relation to the car use the clear directions sent by Pasquale and ignore the GPS directions on your rental car.
We found the Sorrento area not the easiest place to drive with lots of traffic including scooters, lack of parking and roads that turn very narrow. We used the ferry for a day trip to Capri and I think in the summer they run a ferry to the towns on the Amalfi coast which would be a good way to visit them.
We did a day trip to Pompeii and used the tour operator Italy Tours for Kids. Roberta our guide was excellent. It was 140 euros for the 4 of us to have a private tour round Pompeii. The kids didn't complain once and were very engaged with her.
