“Beautiful Sorento”
Reviewed 12 September 2012

We spent one night in Sorento at the Hotel Prestige and found it to be very delightful. The staff were exceptional. They took care of our every wish. The pool is very nice and the meal served on top of the roof overlooking Sorento Bay was really exquisite.

I cannot speak highly enough for this hotel!

We arrived early as we had been staying at Marina del cantone just a few miles away. We were offered breakfast even though it was 10.30 and this is the time breakfast is schedukled to finish.

The rooms are lovely as is the hotel decor, pool etc. The views are stunning and the food was very good. The main element that makes this hotel so special is the staff.

I explained that I would be proposing that night and they phoned round retaurants that they thought would be special for the occasion and arranged for a romantic table. They go the extra mile to ensure your stay is special and I cannot wait to return there.

I would not stay anywhere else in and around Sorrento.

Grazie mille from Chris!!

Thankyou so much to all the staff. Grazi melo

Room Tip: Romantic suite offer a beautiful private terrace overlooking the bay of naples. Simply beautiful.

I was a solo traveller and was made very welcome at the Hotel Prestige...The staff at the Hotel were very helpful and obliging, going out of their way to assist me and giving tips as to where the locals eat and swim too! I particularly wanted an out-of-the-way place to relax, but to be able to get to places easily enough...and the free shuttle throughout the day was very convenient...they even put on an extra one for me early in the morning so that I could make my flight...I can't praise this place enough...FANTASTIC!

If you arrive by train, make sure to arrange for the hotel's shuttle bus (hardly a "bus," its a nicely appointed Mercedes van) to pick you up, otherwise it would be a very expensive ride up the mountain to the hotel. The very helpful staff at Hotel Prestige will remind you of this when sending your confirmation for your stay. We were picked up from the train station right on time and were on our way. It's about a 15-20 minute ride, winding up and around the hillsides. Views from the ride up are beautifully accented by the Italian opera playing on a CD in the shuttle... not a necessity, but definitely a nice touch!

Arriving at the hotel, there is a small parking lot across the street from the entrance. Turn around here and look out... the view is fantastic, even from the parking lot! The bus dropped us off right at the front door, and the driver helped us in with our bags. The front desk agents greeted us and got us checked in right away. We walked up to our room and were quite suprised and pleased with the size of it. We had ample room to move about and situate our luggage. The bathroom is quite cute, with painted wall tiles and a beautiful vanity. The shower was nice, with different options for shower heads/sprays etc. The best part was the view. We had a rather large balcony with a few seats and a table that I spent a few sunrises and sunsets on. After dropping our things, we had a little bit of daylight left, so we decided to explore the grounds. We checked out the breakfast room, which was very nicely decorated and larger than expected. We walked around the pool deck, and found the terraces... there are so many of them! They are beautifully landscaped, with stepping stone paths and log fences, offering views from many different angles. I think they were my favorite part of the hotel. If you walk around them, you can see out toward the other side of the mountain, toward Positano and the Amalfi coast, or if you look out over the pool, you can see across the bay to Naples, with Sorrento below, and the islands of Ischia and Procida off in the distance to your left. Beautiful, beautiful views. We sat on the terrace for a bit and then went off in search of dinner.

As I said earlier, this hotel is way up on the mountain, so moving about is limited. The shuttle also offers service to 1 or 2 restaurants on top of the mountain as well, but after reading the menus, they seemed a little fancier than we were looking for. One was a restaurant with great panoramic views that sounded nice, but pricey, and another restaurant across the street that was supposed to be just ok, and there were hardly any reviews, so we skipped it. The front desk ladies suggested we try the trattoria right around the corner. It was in walking distance and very fairly priced. Trattoria Da Salvatore was the name of it (to be reviewed soon!). The second night we were there, we sat atop the hotel on the terrace serviced by their restaurant to watch the sunset. We skipped the appetizers and just opted for a sunset cocktail. The sunset was gorgeous. We were tired and feeling un-adventurous, so decided to do the pizza place for dinner again... unfortunately, it was closed on Mondays, so we asked the front desk to make another suggestion. Lo Stuzzichino (to be reviewed) was the name of it, and it was in the next town over. They told us that the restaurant their own shuttle they would send for us... the shuttle turned out to be the busboy driving the owner/manager's car! We thought this was just hysterical and went along for the ride, zipping through the mountainside. Too funny, and we loved it.

Breakfast at Hotel Prestige was very good. There were a lot of options, both hot and cold, with many drink choices, and great cappuccino!

All of the staff at Hotel Prestige, from the desk employees, to the room attendants, and shuttle driver spoke excellent English, which left us at ease when asking for recommendations or directions. The hotel is situated pretty far up the mountain on Sorrento, and so there is no real access to anything unless you take the shuttle. It operates on a great and timely schedule, so it's easy to plan your days/evenings, if given a little forethought.

My husband asked if I would have rather stayed down in the city, with ease of access to everything, or travel up and down the mountain on the shuttle each day to stay at Hotel Prestige. I adored this hotel and the scenic ride down into the city. The views are fantastic and the staff's attentiveness and helpfulness can't be beat. We had a great experience all around, and would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Just ask for one with a view! They will most likely be over the street, but we weren't bothered...

We just spent a week at the Hotel Prestige in Sorrento, Italy 8/24/12 - 8/31/12 and can't say enough good things about this property. First, and foremost, the staff are excellent. They are friendly, full of information, and are genuinely glad you chose their hotel. Second, the location is marvelous....up high to see the city below and both bays of water. Third, the shuttle service to/from Sorrento saves you lots of money on transportation and is convenient to get you to the ferry in the morning and back after dinner in the night. Fourth, the room was very comfortable and had all the amenities you would expect.

Room Tip: All floors have an outdoor component, but I would ask for the 2nd floor with terrace facing the wate...

I don't care if a hotel room costs £30 or £300 a night. I only go by whether I think it's value for money. In the case of Hotel Prestige that would be a resounding YES!.
Views are fantastic, but to get them you have to be a fair bit out of town.(about a 10 minute drive). This is not a disadvantage as long as you know before you go. Prestige offer an excellent shuttle bus service into Sorrento and back, or if you like you can get on the SITA bus just outside the hotel, which goes along the Amalfi coast in the other direction. (Be warned about the public bus - it's cheap but you might have to stand.
There's no restaurant as such, but they do offer a good range of snacks, and don't rip you off for drinks. They have an arrangement with a local restaurant (Il Panorama) with a shuttle bus service to and from. This restaurant is excellent. Their website tells you it's 900 metres away, and I thought "Oh I'll just walk that.", but even I wouldn't walk that road. The bus is fine. There's also a nearer restaurant (Da Salvatore) within 2 minutes easy walk that offers a different style of menu but also excellent food. (but hard seats!) In both restaurants drink the local wine (3 euros a bottle!)
Rooms are very well appointed and in excellent repair. They obviously look after their hotel. The cleaning ladies were very smart, friendly and efficient.
The breakfast is fantastic! Wide choice of fruit, pastries, cakes, cooked meats, cheese, bread, yoghurts and even a hot option (scrambled eggs, bacon and baked beans.) Now these are not your usual baked beans. These are baked beans alla Sorrentina and was very happy to eat them every day (without any of the usual side effects I might add.)
The staff are simply superb. They are friendly and helpful without ever being over the top. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and everything is done with a smile. Roberto does need to get a new tie to wear at breakfast - it's just a bit too bright when you're feeling a bit groggy.
What's the best recommendation I can give? I would stop typing and go back right now if I could afford it. Brilliant!

Room Tip: rooms at back are quiet but have no view. not a problem if you want somewhere quiet to sit outside t...

We arrived by car, and one of the reasons for choosing the hotel was the fact that there is ample car parking provided which is free and opposite the hotel. We arrived by car, and one of the reasons for choosing the hotel was the fact that there is ample car parking provided which is free and opposite the hotel. The hotel has views looking over the west part of sorrento, (Marina Grande I think ) and is close to the centre of the hills that divide the middle of the peninsular.

In theory it would take 45 minutes to walk into sorrento, but with the lack of pavements and the narrow winding and steep roads - then either drive - take the shuttle or take the SITA bus . The regular shuttle leaves 3 times in the morning to go into sorrento (http://www.hotelprestigesorrento.com/en/free_shuttle_bus.html )
and 4 times coming back in the evening .

The staff were all very helpful, kind and courteous. They tried to help with everything we asked for. Everything was clean and fresh - no bath but a good shower - room had air conditioning and a reasonably priced mini bar.(But no tea making facilities) The rooms were also very bright - , we had a separate personal outside balcony and a key unlocked the gate to the area overlooking the bay with sunloungers outside our 'balcony'.
The hotel has a series of seats in garden areas running back up the hillside. It has has a pool and terrace for sunbathing , and a roof bar with great views over the bay.
There is also a small pizzeria 40 metres down the road which served great food and wine

All in all a very memorable stay - which we thoroughly enjoyed and the only issue is the distance from town - but in some ways we enjoyed being out of town - higher and slightly cooler on the hillside without all the noise .......

Occasionally we drove down just south of the main square -parking opposite valle dei mulini. This sorted out the fact that the last bus was at 11 pm .....
(a taxi back would cost 40 to 50 euros )

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view - as this is the side with the road - first floor OK - or second floor is...
