“Old School Charm”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Simply majestic Old School Hotel that my Family simply loved. It is very rare for my children to say anything about a Hotel. Both loved this place. I could go on but the best recommendation for the Luna is from the many Guests we encountered who were back for their 10th plus visit. Capri is not for everyone. We thought it was just tremendous and a lot had to do with teh Hotel and especially the Luna staff who from Conceirge to Cleaner were lovely people.

Room Tip: The Front desk are superb for organising your stay.

This hotel on Italy's Isle of Capri is an absolute gem. We had never been to the south of Italy before, and happily it was all we had heard it to be. This was due in no small part to this wonderful hotel, We had requested a sea view room when we booked, and boy did we get one. Our "room" was actually a suite with a nice sized balcony overlooking the Faraglioli, a sitting room, a king sized bed room with another balcony overlooking the garden on the side of the hotel, and two large bathrooms, one with shower, the other with tub. The floors were tiled throughout with the traditional yellow and blue tiles of the island. The front desk personnel and wait staff were attentive and personable. We are dinner in their restaurant one evening and our meal was superb. The breakfasts were delicious as well. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the town square, but is on a plot of land with extensive gardens, removed from the hurly burly of all the shops. In summary, a delightful experience which we hope to repeat!

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a front room overlooking the sea. Amazing!

We stayed for 4 nights in early June 2014. From the moment we entered the spectacular rosemary-filled grounds, my boyfriend and I were thrilled that we'd chosen to stay at Hotel Luna.
We reserved the least expensive room possible, so I was a little concerned to see what that would get for us, but was then completely relieved and happily surprised to see that we had a quiet, nice-sized room with what they called a "matrimonial bed" but is the same as a Queen in the U.S. The bathroom was a good size (we could easily stand side by side and brush our teeth), everything was in like-new condition and very clean, though the shower was a bit tight and would probably be an issue for anyone who shops in the "Big & Tall" section. Our room was on the 2nd floor and had french doors leading out onto a sweet little terrace (large enough to more than comfortably fit a table and a couple of chairs), just a few feet from a beautiful semi-private fountain. The room also had electronic black-out shades on the french doors, which were amazing if you want to sleep a little later.
We found the hotel staff to be courteous, well-spoken (in English, German and Italian) and were happy to help in whatever way they could. The front desk clerks were knowledgable about all of restaurants on the island and we quickly found we could trust their recommendations (especially if we presented 2 or 3 options that interested us). They were also extremely patient and helpful, making and canceling reservations for us. We ate breakfast at the hotel every morning and miss now that we're back in NYC! Lollo was usually our server and he just had the warmest way about him. (Ask them to make you scrambled eggs. If you're from the US they'll be the best eggs you've ever eaten.) In the evenings, just around sunset we'd wander out onto the terrace off the lobby and take in the view while Luigi stirred us up some delicious cocktails. I would say that if you're looking for a lively bar scene at your hotel then this is not the place, at least the week we were there, but it was exactly what we had in mind and there was plenty of "scene" to be had whenever we left the hotel grounds.
All in all, we had an incredible, special time in Capri and felt that It was largely due to Hotel Luna.

We visited the Hotel Luna for lunch during a day trip to Capri. We just stumbled upon the Hotel and had not read any reviews - but it did not disappoint!

The setting, atmosphere, service and food were all perfect. The menu is full of traditional Italian dishes which were fresh and delicious. I brought along my bikini and so decided to go for a dip in the pool after lunch... I wasn't sure if this would be okay with the management - but in fact the Hotel welcomed me to have a swim and even gave me a towel and sun lounger! I can't comment on the Hotel Luna as a place to stay - but if you are looking for an authentic Italian restaurant for lunch away from the tourist traps, head here!

"Dear Guest, thank you for your review, dedicated to our food.
In fact, it is rather unusual that the Hotel Luna receives Guests only for lunch; we are very happy that you have found here the good and original tastes of Italian cuisine, because we much commit ourselves in the freshness and genuineness of the ingredients.
You have well understood, the pool is reserved for Guests of the Hotel, but we gladly have made a little "infringement", so that your day could be perfect! The next time, please remain here for a night, you'll like it. Thank you very much. "

This hotel is one of those special places you remember forever. Of course Capri itself is very beautiful, and the location of this hotel may be in the most beautiful spot on the Island. A short walk from the funicular, you go through busy pedestrian only streets, highlighting some of the top designer boutiques in the world, and also some quaint local artsy shops, and then arrive on the spectacular property of the Hotel Luna. The path from the road to the hotel leads you through beautiful, perfectly kept gardens, with a stunning view of the ocean, and then the lovely lobby of the hotel. We were greeted warmly, and given a lovely room with a view of the ocean and the stunning hotel pool. We were starving when we arrived at 2:30PM, and were told there was only food service at the pool. We expected a quick uninteresting snack, but we were instead treated to a feast of wonderful salads and pasta, beautifully served by a wonderful and entertaining waiter, that was one of the highlights of our 10 day trip to Rome and Capri. What a place. Breakfast was included and it was a delicious buffet with everything you could possibly want. The island itself is magical and unique. Stunning views everywhere you look, friendly, laid back. If you go to Capri, stay at this hotel. It was more than perfect, it was a dream come true. We can only hope we can get back here one more time in our lives.

I stayed in this hotel in the beginning of May. The hotel itself looks very nice on the hill and overlooks Faraglioni. My friends stayed in the room with a balcony which is much better then a standard room (mainly because of the view). All shops and restaurants just minutes away. They also have a large swimming pool and a bar.

I stayed there for 3 nights with my fiancee and it was absolutely perfect. From the very nice and helpful staff to the superbly comfortable room, everything about our stay there was flawless. The view from our room to the Faraglioni was stunning, the best in Capri! The gardens are beautiful and the swimming pool area is perfect for sunbathing. Breakfast is a delight, and it was great to be able to sleep until late and have breakfast in our balcony with the beautiful sea view ( although it's a much smaller version of the breakfast they serve on the buffet). Location is also very good, just a quick walk from La Piazzeta. Staff is ready to help you to enjoy the tours and sights and they've arranged us a great boat ride around the island with Rafaelle, a friendly local (Keep your italian sharp!)
It's really worth the price and I can't wait to go back!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We can be in no other place than Capri’s Hotel Luna. “Tell me if there is another spectacle on earth which can compare with this” wrote Alexandre Dumas as he gazed at the Faraglioni rocks way back in 1816. “No, there isn’t” you instinctively want to answer, as you sit on the sweeping terrace of Hotel Luna, watching the setting sun paint the legendary sea stacks a shade of fiery red, or stroll through the gardens on a summer evening, in the silvery light of the Capri moon. Watching the sun rising over the sea, whiling away a morning lazing by the pool, relishing a delicious lunch of insalata caprese and fresh fruit, taking a spot of exercise in the panoramic fitness corner, enjoying a candlelit dinner overlooking the Faraglioni, savoring a bottle of wine with that special someone on the terrace of your room.
