“Narrow lanes”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

Piazza Umberto is a maze of narrow little lanes winding between traditional whitewashed buildings. These lanes can get crowded; A couple of lanes in the heart of town are lined with shops: jewellery, designer fashion, accessories and one or two more affordable stores. Walking a little further are cafes and restaurants and out along quieter, bougainvillea-draped lanes. You can take the funicular from here to the Grande marina.

“A slower pace in the square in the off season”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 December 2013

We visited Capri in November and the pace was much slower than during the high season for the tourists visiting the island. The Piazza is where you can catch the funicular down to Marina Grande. It also leads to many swanky shops for high fashion. It was a slower pace that we found three years earlier on our first visit to Capri. It is a good spot to sit and people watch.

“Lively place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 November 2013

It is a lively little square close to the church. There were couple of marriage processions from the church, tourists assembling there, pizza places charging ridiculous amounts, small lanes leading to tourist attractions,.. One can get lost watching the people and the views of the sea and sunset in the evening..

“The square in Capri”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2013

This Piazza is definitely the hub of Capri where you will fin the clock tower with Capri Time. It is small, but nice. People come and go, so be patient and the crowd lessens. This is where you can take the funicular back down or take the stairs to the marina. Cool shops all around!

“Tiny square - not so exciting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 November 2013

You will walk through this Piazza whether you want to or not while in Capri but it is a small and isn't very special.

It is simply nice but nothing more
