We traveled with four friends and had two suites at the Villa Brunella. Both suites had spectacular views and gorgeous, spacious rooms with charming decor and comfy furniture. The staff was gracious, warm, friendly, and responsive. We had a wonderful meals and wine in the beautiful restaurant -- again with spectacular views. We stayed here during the final week (early October) before the hotel closed for the season. Lounging at the pool, we were treated to poolside service and a complimentary bottle of house wine from the manager. We loved the stunning walk from the center of town to our little oasis, passing shops, restaurants, and other hotels. The walk was relaxing and not too far; we appreciated it for all of the beautiful places we passed along the way. We loved the hotel's advice to: 1) take a boat trip around the grottos, and 2) visit Ana Capri for additional shops and the spectacular sky ride (WOW!!!). The hotel staff handled everything for us -- e.g. booked our boat ride and train tickets to Rome, for our flight out. By the way, we could walk to the heart of Capri, where we found many famous designer boutiques -- the same kinds of high-end shops one would find in major metropolitan cities -- NYC or Rodeo drive or LA. But, the hotel also encouraged us to spend a day in nearby Ana Capri, where we found many more local shops with locally-made goods (like in Positano). Both Capri and Ana Capri are stunning!

We stayed 3 nights at Hotel Brunella. It is a beautiful location and the rooms are stellar. The front desk staff were pleasant and seemed to work hard to answer questions and be available. However, for the price we were paying, we expected a bit more. The breakfast is really shameful. A basket of breads is provided with coffee/tea. Eggs, yogert, juice, etc. are all extra. We stayed in numerous hotels throughout Italy on this trip and all of the them provided significantly more for breakfast, even the hotels that charged much less. One morning, I ordered eggs and they never came and no apology was given. There was a cavalier attitude from the wait staff. Be advised that the beach club owned by the hotel is about a 45 minute walk down the steps of the cliff. You can take the bus or a taxi back to the town center. Ask about reserving chairs at the club if you are there at a busy time. We arrived at around 11 am to the club and had to sit in lousy chairs despite being guests of the hotel. However, we did reserve chairs for the following days. As other reviews have indicated, the hotel is a good distance from the town center. It is very confusing when you arrive. Be sure to give all of your bags to the porter at the boat or you will be carrying them pretty far. The hotel is hard to find and directions supposedly given in correspondence are not clear. A map upon arrival at the port would have been helpful. There are many stairs in the hotel. Look for the elevators between a few floors. No one told us about them. In fact, we saw one family arrive and have to navigate 6 flights of stairs downward carrying children. The porter never recommended the elevator! On the positive side, we loved the activities in Capri, the boat ride around the island, the chair lift in Anacapri and the Lighthouse--all were fabulous. This hotel could be top notch with just a few adjustments to service and breakfast.

This was our second time staying at Villa Brunella. My husband and I first stayed there in 1995 shortly after our marriage and now we wanted to share it and Capri with our two teenage daughters. It was just as lovely as we remembered. Our large, junior suite comfortably slept all four of us (girls on sofa bed and cot) and had two full bathrooms which was great when travelling with teen daughters! Room had large terrace with lounges overlooking pool and gorgeous view of the sea. Staff were all friendly and bent over backwards to be helpful. Food was outstanding all around. The hotel's restaurant is excellent and a very romantic place for dinner. Can't wait to return!

We spent a week in May 2012 at Villa Brunella, and had such a lovely time that we repeated the trip in 2013. The hotel is lovely, it has tons of character and charm, we were made to feel very welcome. The service is lovely, the ladies who look after the rooms seem to take much personal pride in looking after the guests, our young daughters were fascinated by how beautiful their little beds looked when we returned to the hotel in the evening. The location is brilliant, the beautiful stroll to and from the center alllows you to soak up the quieter atmosphere of the island, the center is a bit busy at times, the tranquility of Via Tragara is a lovely antidote. The rooms are enormous, the breakfast lovely, and what a view! We especially loved wandering down Via Krupp to Marina Piccola, having lunch at the Bagni Internazionali restaurant Ciro a Mare, associated with Villa Brunella so the table was always ready for us. A really lovely holiday!

We only stayed 2 nights; the hotel itself needs updating; the service was just okay. We traveled with our 2 kids - ages 1 and 10. At the pool, other guests made us feel like we were disturbing them with our children who are actually very well behaved for the most part. The rooms were big and the balcony was nice and the view simply amazing. We got lost and walked around aimlessly for about an hour and 4 different people gave us varying directions and couldn't find it. However, our stay was very good and it was nice to be a little bit away from the square. Capri is quite gorgeous, but many of the people who had traveled there seemed very entitled and that we were in their way (even when walking with a baby/stroller, we got pushed a few times out of the way). We did enjoy dinner in the piazza. I did think it was a bit too pricey. We stayed in Sorrento the 4 days before hand and paid nearly 200 euros less for a bigger room that was comprabable, but you pay for being on Capri.

I had not been to Capri in almost 20 years and couldn’t remember too much about it except that I stayed in Anna Capri. I was surprised by how many high end shops there are in Capri and how much of a destination of the rich and famous it has become. Our travel agent had set-up taxi and ferry transfers from the train station in Naples to our hotel. This included luggage transfers, which was very helpful because our hotel was a bit of a walk from where cars cannot go any more. However, it is less than a perfect system and it took our bags about an hour or so (my wife says two hours) to arrive at the hotel after we did. When we left our bags were picked up two hours before our ferry was to leave for Sorrento. When we arrived at the dock, our bags were nowhere to be seen and our travel service agent that met us at the hotel and took us to the ferry could not find out where they were until the gang plank was going up. She was then told that they had gone on an earlier ferry. When we arrived in Sorrento, out bags were on the dock with three men standing around them with their arms raised. When we told them the bags were ours, they said good, because they didn’t know what to do with them and were going to send them back to Capri.

Anyway. The hotel was very nice and in a great location, which is not that far a walk from the center of town, but far enough to be in a very quiet and beautiful spot with breathtaking views. The staff was very friendly as well and we had a private balcony with views of the garden and the sea, though through the trees. The pool area is very nice and perfect for breakfast and relaxing. The hotel restaurant is supposed to be very good, but we could not get reservations when we arrived and opted to eat in town. I would recommend making reservations to any restaurant ahead of time during the peak season if you can because it can be hard to get them when you arrive.

Room Tip: Rooms highter up towards the pool/reception have a better veiw of the sea

This place is an oasis, quiet & reserved away from the trashy tourist route. The highest of standards are demonstrated at every level from the moment you enter the staff are so welcoming & attentive you would think you were family! The rooms are enormous, bathrooms so generous with huge bathtubs and quality accessories. Tasteful period furniture & soft lounges complete the suits. The balcony has deck chairs & a furnished entertaining area. The restaurant has a Michellin Star, gastronomically your in superb hands. The concierge could not do enough for us, they arranged diving trips, boat tours, booking at local restaurants where only the locals are in the know. They made this holiday memory the glory that it was! I can't wait to return!!!!!
