“La Minerva - Our Favorite!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014

We love this hotel. We stayed at La Minerva in early April. This was our second visit in two years. If you've read through the reviews, you know that La Minerva is a wonderful hotel. We find it an oasis of calm and beauty. We like traveling in the off season because Capri is much quieter and less crowded. We take walks all over the island and are often times the only people on the trail or path.

There aren't enough positive adjectives in the English language to accurately describe the wonderful experience of staying at La Minerva. Brothers, Luigi and Antonino, and now their younger brother, Marco, provide such excellent service. They are always ready and willing to help you navigate restaurants, walks, and beautiful places to visit, and are genuinely friendly people. Kamal and Marco (the other Marco) take great care whether serving you a lovely breakfast or lunch by the pool. Kamal's coffee is the best. We actually ate lunch three times at the hotel because the setting is so beautiful and relaxing, and the simple food very delicious!

We stayed in the same superior room that we had the first time we stayed and it was every bit as lovely as we remembered. So much thought and care have gone into all the elements of the hotel.

It's always difficult returning home to our much more mundane lives. We'd love to spend many months at the beautiful La Minerva.

Thanks to all of you for taking such good care of us and all your guests!

When we decided we wanted to go to Capri, the first few hotels I found were in the $700/night range, and I figured we'd have to scrap the trip entirely. Then we found La Minerva, which was not only reasonably priced, at least by Capri standards, but truly one of the top few hotels in which I've ever stayed. All of the amenities you'd expect in a luxury hotel (except, perhaps, room service), with all of the personal attention you'd expect from a top B&B. The owners recommended a wonderful, low-key local restaurant, which was so perfect we returned the second night. I can't say enough about how wonderful this experience was.

My wife and I have traveled throughout the US, Caribbean, and Europe. La Minerva sits on top of the list of the best hotels. The owners, Antonino and Luigi, brothers, are friendly, helpful, and run the hotel like a family welcoming you into their home. The hotel is spotless and immaculately clean. Our Superior room was a good size, had a nice balcony with 2 chairs, and a splendid view. From arrival to departure, they made everything easy. A woman from the hotel met us at the dock to take our luggage to the hotel. She explained how to take the Funicare (5 min train up the mountain) to the main square, gave us a map that directed us to the 10 min walk to the hotel.

The hotel is centrally located in the main area of shops and restaurants and hotels. Upon arrival we sat by the pool and they served us a delicious lunch of pasta, salad, wine, and bread. Simple food, but among the most delicious in all of amalfi coast. All their recommendations for restaurants, walks, and attractions were excellent. Don't miss the chair lift to Anacapri peak. Amazing views. They also directed us to a great lunch in a restaurant in a 40 min walk from the center of Anacapri. It's worth the walk (restaurant also will pick you up and drive you back at no charge). Get the antipasti sampler plate and the organic wine made on premise. So good!

The breakfast was outstanding. Fresh fruit, pastries, meats, and eggs made to order. The location was on the top level with a great view. The pool area was beautiful and had many comfortable lounge chairs - we lingered there for hours. The main lobby area had comfortable chairs and sofa where guests typically sat for a while enjoying coffee or mixed drinks in the beautiful white decorated room. It was a good way to mingle with other guests to exchange recommendations on sites and restaurants.

Capri was our favorite part of the amalfi coast. Stunning scenery, great food, nice shops, wonderful hikes and walks, and at La Minerva as your home base, you will have the time of your life. The hosts at the hotel are incredibly gracious and helpful. I hope to return one day.

Room Tip: Select a room on a high floor with a balcony and for best views

My wife and I stayed here for the second half of our honeymoon in September 2013 and I can honestly say this is the best hotel we have ever been to.

From the moment we arrived (to be greeted by Guiseppe on the dock who took care of our bags) to the very sad day we left nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff at La Minerva.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and meticulously clean - our room was near to the swimming pool area with a private balcony, dressing room and good sized bathroom. Flowers and Champagne were waiting for us when we checked in which my wife loved.

It is a short walk to the town centre and there are innumerable good quality restaurants within a short walk. Every recommendation from Luigi and Antonino was excellent and we did not have a poor meal while we stayed on the island.

We spent 10 perfect days here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or return. Hopefully on a regular basis.

There is nothing to add to the previous reviews. A wonderful place, the owners very nice, helpful and friendly. If you you prefer small boutique hotels - as we do - this is the place to go! Not to forget the delicious breakfast.
We will come back!

We have just returned from a 5 night stay. It is not often that you can say something is perfect but in this case it was. Wonderfully welcoming owners and the staff just as helpful and friendly, and every wish catered for. The hotel was pristine everywhere. Our room (deluxe) was really a junior suite with a huge terrace over-looking the sea. Little extras - such as no extra charge for room service, nightly news letter and a flower, and help and advice in booking trips and restaurants - added that "something extra". Overall, wonderfully romantic and ideal for a special occasion.

Room Tip: The deluxe room is well worth the extra cost but most rooms face the sea

This is the type of place that doesn't really need a review. The rooms are beautiful. The location is central yet quiet. The staff is remarkably hospitable and kind (We love you Marco!). The food is great. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for such a lovely experience! The only caveat is that I recommend that you pay close attention to the season in which you book your stay. We went in October and it rained quite a bit while we were the there.
